Chapter 4- Copying your homework

TL: Qian

Today was Friday so school was dismissed early in the afternoon, but instead of feeling happy at the short school day, Mu Qi only felt distressed when she thought about the hotel she had to go to tonight.

“Qi-ge, are you going to Yuan Fu Lounge later?” Hu Ying arrived by her side and looked at her carefully.

She knows that today Mu Qi cannot be provoked. At best she will laugh it off with you, at worst she’ll do things that’ll make you cry for your mother and father.

Su Yanxi also noticed Mu Qi’s strangeness today and didn’t dare to talk at this moment, choosing to follow them quietly instead.

“You guys go back first.” Mu Qi glanced at Su Yanxi behind him, and raised her chin slightly towards her, “You should send her home.”

“No problem.” Hu Ying patted her chest confidently.

Su Yanxi wanted to ask Mu Qi what she was going to do at Yuan Fu Lounge, but before she could even open her mouth, she saw Hu Ying blinking rapidly at her and trying to signal something to her. In the end, she could only put away her curiosity.

“I’m leaving.” Mu Qi didn’t notice the exchange between her two friends and gave them away before getting on the bus.

Once the bus disappeared from view, Su Yanxi retracted her gaze and looked at Hu Ying who wore a worried expression on her face. She asked in confusion, “Who is she meeting at Yuan Fu Lounge?”

“Her parents.” Hu Ying didn’t elaborate further. After all, this is her friend’s private matter and it is not her place to say too much.

Su Yanxi understood that she wasn’t going to get anything else from her and so she didn’t ask anymore. Instead, she looked in the direction Mu Qi left in with a thoughtful expression.

Meanwhile, Mu Qi sat on the bus, blankly looking at the scenery that flashed by outside her window before arriving at her destination. She got off the bus and looked up, the three characters ‘Yuan Fu Lounge” looking down at her. After standing there for another five minutes, she made her way inside.

“Welcome.” The receptionist at the front desk greeted her with a smile.

Although Mu Qi was wearing a school uniform, the receptionist dared not to look down on the young girl. After all, those who can come and eat here were not ordinary people.

“Box 8 on the second floor.” Mu Qi repeated the text message her father had sent her earlier. Just a few characters, no more than necessary, just what she expected from her father.

“This way, Miss.” The waiter standing at the top of the stairs said.

“En.” Mu Qi nodded and walked into Box 8. She was already in a bad mood to begin with and now it was getting even worse. She pressed her lips together and knocked on the door to the room.

“Come in.”

Mu Qi opened the door and saw her divorced parents sitting on either side of the round table.

Her dad wore a black suit, his face blank with no anger on it and there was a laptop in front of him. One could clearly tell that he was still working before she came in.

On the other side was her mother.

She had just finished shooting a commercial as the makeup on her face had not been removed yet. In order to not be recognized and accosted by her fans, her mother wore sunglasses over her eyes and it made her entire face seem cold.

Mu Qi sat down in the middle of the two of them as usual and threw her school bag onto one of the side chairs. She took out her phone and refused to look at either of them.

However, even if she seemed to be solely looking at the phone in front of her, her mind was focused with the two people beside her.

The two of them had already ordered the food and after a while, the waiter came in to serve them an array of dishes. When the dishes were set on the table, Mu Guoqiang finally spoke: “Let’s eat.”

Mu Guoqiang is the CEO of the Mu’s Entertainment Group. He has a few first-string stars working for him and her mother had met him when she was an actress working for him.

However, there were just too many female stars constantly revolving around Mu Guoqiang. There were always one or two who tried to climb into his bed. If it was just once or twice it would’ve been tolerable, but one could only tolerate so many. When the frequency increased, Mu Qi’s mother, Liu Xin, couldn’t stand it anymore. Afterward, there were constant quarreling and cold wars being waged by both sides.

In the end, the final result was a divorce.

And Mu Qi, who was caught in the middle, was hurt the most.

During the meal, the three of them were silent, and the only sounds being made were the sounds of chopsticks clanging against the porcelain bowls.

In such a depressing environment, even the best appetite will be greatly reduced, let alone Mu Qi’s.

She put down the chopsticks in her hand, stood up, and said, “I’m full. I’ll be leaving first.”

“En.” Mu Guoqiang barely spared her a glance.

“Be careful on your way back.” Although she had divorced the man across from her, Liu Xin still doted on her flesh and blood daughter. She couldn’t bear to treat her daughter so distantly and watched Mu Qi leave with a complicated expression.

After the door behind her was closed, Mu Qi’s calm expression instantly collapsed and her fists clenched at her sides. She pressed her lips together tightly and flung her school bag over her shoulder before making her way downstairs.

“Thank you for coming.”

The receptionist bowed as she walked out. The bustling city outside of the restaurant was full of life but Mu Qi didn’t feel the vibrant liveliness and instead felt depressed at the liveliness outside. She glanced back at the restaurant one more time before finally retracting her gaze and then left without a second glance back.

Inside the box, both Mu Guoqiang and Liu Xin quickly finished their meals and left separately without saying anything.
