Ch5 - Establishing his own entertainment company

Bai Ruogu read the book all afternoon, until the sunset hung in the sky, and scattered a dim yellow light, only then did he rub his eyelids intending to rest.

At this time, the smart brain issued a beep that only he could hear, and when he looked at the screen it was similar to what a video call would be on ancient Earth.

The bookstore was relatively quiet, and Bai Ruogu did not want to disturb others. He was about to get up and go out, but suddenly thought of the common knowledge he had just learned.

He looked at the button on the table and tentatively pressed it, instantly a transparent glass cover covered him, temporarily isolating sounds inside.

He looked at it a few more times in amazement and leaned back into his seat again, he looked out of the window at the comforting scene and clicked on the video.

“Brat, I heard you got terminated hahahahahahaha ……” There was a noisy mechanical sound accompanied by the merciless laughter of a middle-aged man.

Brat…… this bizarre name.

The corners of Bai Ruogu’s eyes twitched and he turned his head to look at the video.

He saw a handsome middle-aged man with thick black short hair, eyes like a vast sea of stars, wheat-yellow skin and a tough appearance looking at him without blinking.

Seeing him(BR) turn around, the other party froze for a moment and returned to his original state, continuing to smile nonchalantly.

However, Bai Ruogu found that although the man’s mouth was unforgiving, the emotion in his eyes did not contain even half of that malice. It was as if he was carefully scrutinizing him wishing to imprint him (BR) in his mind.

In an instant he understood the man’s identity, it was his father.

The mixture of the two consciousness’ made the memory of his father distant and unfamiliar to him.

“Dad.” He opened his mouth and called out with difficulty.

A strange emotion rose up within him, and his heart shook slightly. This somewhat unfamiliar man had the same blood as him, he was a trustworthy figure in this life’s memory and the presence that gave him the most peace of mind.

“Hmm.” The other party responded, as the depths of his eyes softened a bit.

Seemingly remembering his purpose, Bai Luoxi glanced back and lit a cigarette.

Seeing the casualness in the curve of Bai Ruogu’s lips, he proceeded to chat lightly with him.

“I say son! You see, you’ve been terminated! This time you ought to give up, come back and inherit the family business, okay?”

“Some people have yet to make money even after being in the circle for so many years, actually most lose more money instead of getting paid. Look at yourself. What are you even doing as an actor? Even when wanting to cancel a contract, you barely had any money. Instead, you had to use the card that Laozi gave you.”

After saying that, Bai Luoxi patted the mecha beside him and motioned to Bai Ruogu, “I think you might as well come back and learn some mecha knowledge. Let’s obediently sell mecha and earn tens of millions of star coins, which is by far more profitable than your celebrity actors.”

Bai Ruogu nodded while listening, finally he bowed his head and smiled.

A scene flashed in his mind, it was Bai Luoxi’s tense expression when he turned around just now.

It was clear that the family was currently in a major crisis, yet he pretended to be carefree.

Whether you want to come back or not it’s your choice, I’m just giving you the best advice.

Bau Ruogu’s eyes unintentionally glanced at the giant mech behind Bai Luoxi, a glimmer of light flashed in his eyes, after which he turned his head away.

Mecha, the new age of mecha ……

We’re sorry for MTLers or people who like using reading mode, but our translations keep getting stolen by aggregators so we’re going to bring back the copy protection. If you need to MTL please retype the gibberish parts.

He put his hand on his slightly tight heart, which was causing him an unspeakably throbbing pain.

“Che, what mecha? Not interested.” After saying that, he carelessly looked at his father. Suddenly, his eyes twinkled as he seemed to have thought of a good idea and jokingly spoke.

“I don’t think mecha is interesting and also it looks like a waste of time. Let’s just quit this business. Dad, follow me, and we’ll open an entertainment company. I will act as your chairman. When the time comes, we’ll be famous across the stars. We can reach the peak of our careers, I don’t believe many mechas can do that!

“F*ck you, you little brat!” Bai Luoxi was so angry he almost smashed the screen.

“You motherf*cker, the gift handed down by our ancestor has been wasted on such an unfilial disciple like you? I think if the ancestor were still alive, they would be absolutely f*cking pissed off! You’ve thrown away the honour of your bloodline so casually, you f*cking piece of shit!”

“Alright, alright!” Bai Ruogu shook his hand and helped his dad catch his breath.

“Who said that? If the ancestor were alive maybe he’d really support me doing this!”

Bai Luoxi: Hehe, you little brat, you still dare to distort facts. If the ancestor were unwell, you would have given him a heart attack.

Bai Ruogu seemed to be unconcerned about the family business, but at the end of the chat slightly pointed to the mech behind Bai Luoxi, and said with a hitch.

“I say Dad, you should try to remove some of the parts inside, such as that small shell inside, and that U-shaped steel plate …… It looks a little heavy ah, this isn’t the weight a speed-type mecha should have. Anyway, these things aren’t much, you may be able to increase the price tenfold after you remove them.”

This was said too casually, stunning Bai Luoxi so much so that he froze. He suspected that the brat was talking nonsense again.

However, he inwardly thought again about what Bai Ruogu said, and it seemed like it was reasonable?

His heart shook—suppressing this shock, he made sure his expression hadn’t changed and continued to say to the little brat in front of him.

“I say, are you coming back after all or not?”

“Not coming back.”

“Alright, you’re not f*cking coming back, right? Laozi will freeze your card, then I’ll see you still try to open a company, you won’t even be able to open a stall!”

Bai Ruogu put a hand over his mouth, and deactivated the glass cover, took one last look at the sunset and proceeded to walk upstairs.

“You can do whatever you want, my mother left me a hundred million to inherit, that’s enough for me to play with.”

“You’re f*cking unfilial! This was for her future daughter-in-law, how dare you spend it?!”

“It’s okay, I’ll make amends at my mother’s grave tomorrow.”

“He~tui!”

Late at night, Bai Ruogu leaned back in a chair in the hotel room, in front of him was a big screen being projected by his smart brain.

It showed a page coloured with personal words, like a diary which recorded one’s likes and dislikes.

[I was a little tired on set today, but that’s okay! My teacher said that this role is especially suitable for me, and I’ll definitely be popular after I play it well, and my father will definitely be impressed with me then!]

Next to the text there were some videos and photos from the set, Bai Ruogu clicked on them to view them one by one.

Although in his previous life he was never involved in this line of work, because he(Modern era BR) loved it so much, knowledge of acting was deeply implanted in his subconscious mind, almost becoming an instinct.

Although currently that love for acting had been greatly watered down, he could still feel the residual joy while watching the videos.

He found that his previous acting skills were so superb that he was close to the level of a film emperor.

If he were to try and copy it, he would never be able to act at the same level as before. But the relative advantage was that his brain was  faster than before.

He calculated when the film would be screened, how much impact it would have and how much it would gain when it would be shown.

If there were no accidents, at the very least, he could squeeze into a first tier artist.

However ……

When he turned to the second page, his eyes deepened and his lips pursed.

There was only one short line on it.

[No more, the movie has been banned.]

Maybe he didn’t understand it before, but now he already knew the reason why.

The two souls had fused together, the anger from the past was repeatedly turning in his mind, even Bai Ruogu, who was a somewhat calm person, became a little enraged.

He forced himself to stabilize his emotions, his breathing gradually became calm and steady again, like an ancient well without ripples.

He turned to the next page

. At that time he still believed in his original expectation, he thought it was just an accident, no one would be this unlucky. He continued to remain full of hope, thinking that as long as there was gold it would always shine.

The photos in the diary recorded his everyday beautiful life, with stars shining in his eyes, he looked forward to the day when he would be known among the public.

But the next page contained restlessness and unease.

Back then, he was in disbelief, filled with self-doubt and on the verge of collapse.

Why was this happening? He had looked forward to this for so long, he invested so much, how could this happen?

Bai Ruogu laid in the hotel room and drank large amounts of wine. He was biting his lips, his eyes red and full of emotion.

The page after that was still the same, still full of anticipation.

Packed with every moment he earnestly completed every scene.

But precisely the same thing happened, the film was banned. He began to feel like foolish person, his head full of chaos.

Gradually, he became numb. Completing all his films in a daze, only for them to once again be heartlessly banned.

Until finally, a director commented that he had lost his aura, his acting had become routine and was not as good as it was said to be.

He got less and less resources. Even the company he was signed to, which was well-known within interstellar’s entertainment industry, found it hard to obtain resources for him.

No one wanted to have their films that they had invested their time and effort into fall into his hands.

Some people were willing to support him and invest in a movie specifically for him, but they also lost large amounts of money.

Those people regretted it, no matter how much money one has had they wouldn’t want to spend it and get nothing in return.

Gradually, he became known as a poison in the film industry. Even a small advertisement, or a new director with little to no investments wouldn’t dare to approach him.

He didn’t have any resources, even though his company had big connections, no one dared to give him a chance.

Just before attending the party, he had received thirteen of his rejected applications at the same time.

Most of them were small productions, or even bad films that had been scheduled in advance. Some studios politely looked for other reasons to reject him, but the majority of them refused without a word.

The diary was turned to the last page, after a while the air was accompanied by laughter filled with an unclear emotion.

The diary was closed in a flash and the screen reverted to the home page.

A faint murmur came from the room, accompanied by a rough voice that was squeezed out of the throat.

“Blacklisted?” He laughed, “Then let’s see who gets the last laugh ……”

The screen changed to a new interface, which was the official website of the registered company.

“Constellation” The company’s name was written at the top.

Others were not willing to give him a chance, and such was human nature, he would not blame anyone.

Since there was no opportunity, he would create one.

He believed that the opportunity he would create would definitely be much greater than that given by others.

“What kind of a story?”

He tapped his fingers on the desk, but his brain, which could calculate countless data in a flash, lost its train of thought.

For a whole night, the lights were kept on, and words on the screen were deleted and changed, remaining uncertain.

He never gave up. Once he decided to take revenge, even if his head hit the south wall, even if his head was knocked till it was broken and bleeding, he would smash his way to the other side of the door and teach the other a lesson.

Although he had no ideas all night, Bai Ruogu was not in a hurry.

The next day the sky was gloomy and it was lightly raining, so he went out with an umbrella.

He had made a promise, since he had taken his mother’s money, he had to go to the cemetery to make amends for the old man.
