Chu Jia Ri raised an ice cream to Chu Chuan’s mouth, blocking his sight. Jiang Yi tilted his head, concentrating completely on the hand Chu Chuan let hang naturally by his side.

Streams of people came and went, soon, Chu Chuan’s hand was also blocked from his sight. He stopped looking dejectedly, yet the person blocking Chu Chuan took a step forward. As if enlightened, Jiang Yi’s eyes widened, seeing—

That hand slowly lifted, catching the ice cream in Chu Jia Ri’s hand.

The sound of guitar halted abruptly. He hugged his guitar and sat on the stone chair in the shade, digging out a lollipop from his pocket and putting it in his mouth after peeling the wrapper off.

He didn’t want the mint candy he gave him yet ate the ice cream Chu Jia Ri bought. He clearly didn’t like eating sticky things like ice cream. He was clearly used to eating Watson’s mint candy when he was quitting smoking.

It seems that, he lost not because he gave something he didn’t like, but because the importance of the person that gifted the candy was far from the importance of the one gifting ice cream.

He couldn’t even beat the position of childhood friends, Jiang Yi rested his chin on the guitar, sighing at the river in the horizon, helpless.

And so he missed the thoughtful gaze Chu Chuan gave him.

Chu Jia Ri licked the ice cream as he grumbled about the unshakeable Jiang Yi. Chu Chuan finished the ice cream in his hand in 2 or 3 bites, frowning as he found the box of candy in his body, throwing a bunch into his mouth, “Eat it yourself next time, don’t buy any for me.”

Chu Jia Ri’s mouth twitched as he made a sound of acknowledgement, his gaze landing on the green candy box in his hand, “Chuan ge, why do you suddenly want to quit smoking?”

The hand Chu Chuan had on the candy box paused, answering almost half a day later perfunctorily, “I just wanted to quit so I quit, where does all the reasons come from?”

Chu Jia Ri believed it and didn’t ask anymore, clearly being tricked. Chu Chuan subconsciously raised his head and kneaded his brows.

Although his addiction wasn’t big, all the people close to him could smell the soft scent of smoke on him. It’s just that he always hung out with the boys, and the people beside him basically all smoked so they never cared about these small things.

Chu Chuan questioned it for a second. In a sense, the answer he just told Chu Jia Ri was true. He didn’t know why he wanted to quit smoking, it’s just that on that day the idea suddenly came to him.

He instinctively realized that he should quit smoking.

After the sun had set, Jiang Yi and Evan kept their guitars and concluded their role of stray musiscians. They sat down with their guitars on their backs on the bank by the river, waiting for a grand firework show.

The last time they squeezed into a sea of chattering people to watch fireworks was back in America. It was 4th of July and the city their university was in prepared a magnificent fireworks show to celebrate.

Jiang Yi was an Asian born and raised in China. He mixed with golden-haired and green eyed Americans, climbing to the highest point of the city to wait for a gorgeous yet fleeting firework.

It could be considered fulfilling one of his regrets. Although following closely after was an even bigger regret. The person who should have been by his side not only didn’t know him, but was also on the other side of the world, across a vast sea with a time difference of 14 hours.

The last time he went to Japan with Chu Chuan, it was just nice Summer season in July. He was lucky enough to catch the Summer Festival and the fireworks in Japan.

It’s just that on the day of the fireworks, Jiang Yi missed it because he overslept. Before drilling into the bed, Jiang Yi had specifically told Chu Chuan, “Wake me up 2 hours before the fireworks.”

Chu Chuan lay on the deck chair in the yard, basking in the sun. When the sun had set, he went to the bedroom to wake Jiang Yi up. After calling once, no one answered. After calling a second time, still no one answered.

Chu Chuan walked to the edge of the tatami and sat down with his legs crossed, reaching out a hand to pat Jiang Yi’s face a few times, saying softly, “Jiang Yi, the sun’s already set. If you don’t wake up now you’ll be late.”

Jiang Yi shut his eyes, rubbing his face on Chu Chuan’s warm palm, mumbling while half asleep, “Chuan ge don’t bother me.”

Chu Chuan didn’t hear him clearly, using one hand to support himself before bending down, putting his ears to his mouth, “What did you say?”

Jiang Yi pursed his lips in his dreams, subconsciously kissing the other party’s ears. He raised both hands and wrapped them around Chu Chuan’s neck, pulling him down.

Chu Chuan was caught unaware, falling onto Jiang Yi.

    Chu Chuan: ……

He swept his gaze over the green shadow beneath his eyes, Chu Chuan reached out his thumb, using a bit of strength as he glided over Jiang Yi’s eyes. Then he sighed soundlessly and took off the arms Jiang Yi linked around his neck. He flipped off his body and lifted the blanking, squeezing in together with him.

He wrapped one hand around Jiang Yi’s waist and brought the person into his embrace before closing his eyes.

When Jiang Yi woke up, everything was dark, only the lonely moonlight floated about the window. His waist was held tightly and half his pillow had been stolen. Said initiator currently had his eyes closed, deep in sleep like Sleeping Beauty.

Jiang Yi jerked awake, getting up with a shout. He flipped around and rode on the Sleeping Beauty’s chest, pinching his cheeks indignantly.

The Sleeping Beauty slowly woke up. He touched the butterfly bones separated with a thin layer of cloth, rubbing it back and forth and pressed the person onto his chest, “What are you doing not sleeping at night? Shouting for ghosts?”

Jiang Yi raised his waist but couldn’t crawl away from Chu Chuan. He could only but the other party’s lower lip to vent his anger, “Didn’t I tell you to wake me up?! But you not only didn’t call me you even stole my pillow and blanket!”

The more he complained, the more aggrieved he became. Thinking that he might have missed the firework show of his life like this, Jiang Yi was so angry that his eyelashes trembled, full of grievances.

Chu Chuan’s heart was moved. He stretched out a finger and felt the lashes as thin as cicada wings, absentmindedly saying, “Then I’ll make it up to you.”

Jiang Yi was dazed, his sleep muddled brain could yet to thunk straight, “…How?”

Chu Chuan, “Put fireworks for you.”

Jiang Yi was first surprised, then confused. Wait, since when did Chuan ge know how to be romantic? Is this still his boyfriend? Trembling with fear, Jiang Yi reached out his hand to touch his face, and then felt relieved.

When he wanted to put his hand down, Chu Chuan had held the wrist tightly, pulling it down. The thing that entered his hand was hot and hard, stunning Jiang Yi.

Chu Chuan sat up while hugging him, snorting, “Want to see? Fireworks.”

Jiang Yi crawled out of Chu Chuan’s embrace, horrified, “I don’t I don’t.”
