The sun didn’t set in the evening. Jiang Yi walked around the sunlight spilt onto the road and into the shade under the trees. Evan’s interest in things like orientation parties wasn’t much; the only thing that could rouse his interest would probably be American students’ home parties and cross-dressing dances on Christmas Eve.

The shirt he wore during the day had become wrinkled under the erosion of sweat. Jiang Yi washed his hair and took a shower before leaving, even using the lemon-scented shampoo that Chu Chuan liked the most. To be honest, he still didn’t know whether or not Chu Chuan would go. After all, with the understanding he had of Chu Chuan, the other party could be thinking, “If I have time to watch some stupid show, then I have time to stay in the dorms”.

So when he found Chu Chuan standing in front of the vending machine in a corner of the school, Jiang Yi was a little surprised. The other had his back facing him, searching for money in his wallet as if he wanted to buy something to drink. Yet all the wrinkled money he had inserted in was spit right out.

Chu Chuan stomped his feet in frustration.

Jiang Yi counted the few coins he had dug out from his pocket, 3 coins, no more, no less. It was just enough for one wash in the washing machine. He quietly moved closer, reaching out a hand from behind Chu Chuan, flipping his hand so his palm faced upwards and revealed the three coins within them.

Chu Chuan jumped, frowning as he took a step back, “What are you doing?”

Jiang Yi giggled, “I’m lending you coins~”

Without waiting for Chu Chuan’s response, he pushed the three coins into the vending machine, scanning the rows of drinks, sighing regretfully, “But it seems I can only get canned drinks.” He looked back at Chu Chuan naturally as ever, “Chuan ge, coke or Fanta?”

     “…”

    “Coke, thank you.”

“I knew that without you telling me.” Jiang Yi mumbled, bending down to pick up the coke, handing it over to Chu Chuan.

Chu Chuan dug out a 10 dollar note from his wallet.

Jiang Yi dug his pockets pretentiously, sighing, “I don’t have any spare change right now… How about you return it to me next time? I’m still waiting to wash my clothes.”

   “… “

He didn’t say anything else, just taking the coke and walking towards the assembly hall. He only noticed that Jiang Yi had been following behind him a while later, thus turning around and asking with furrowed brows, “Why are you following me?”

Jiang Yi pouted, blinking innocently as he moved the hands he had hidden behind his back in front, showing him the entrance ticket for the orientation party, “What a coincidence, we’re going the same way.”

Chu Chuan stood frozen on the spot, looking like he had no more patience to spare, “Since it’s the same way, why are you so slow? Speed up.”

Jiang Yi stared in daze for a second before he noticed the meaning within Chu Chuan’s words, following almost subconsciously. When he had started walking shoulder to shoulder with Chu Chuan, he revealed a large smile.

It looked terribly like the Keeshond who enjoyed wagging its tail and acting cute from his house. As long as you gave it a treat, it would lie down on the floor and reveal its softest and harmless stomach.

Chu Chuan studied him with an unreadable expression, his Adam’s apple bobbing. But in the end, he didn’t say anything.

    Small Theatre—

Jiang Yi: Why did you start liking me back then?

Chu Chuan: Are you a little girl? Asking this.

Jiang Yi: (relentless) Were you moved by me pursuing you?

    Chu Chuan: No

    Jiang Yi: Then why?

Chu Chuan: (smiling lazily) You looked like the Keeshond I used to have.

    Jiang Yi: ……

    Jiang Yi: So??

Chu Chuan: I really liked that dog.

Jiang Yi: So? How does you liking that dog relate to this? Chu Chuan I’m warning you, don’t think you can get away from this so easily. I hold a lot of grudges, I’ll remember the fact that you said I look like your old dog my entire li—

Chu Chuan: So I really like you too.

    Jiang Yi: ………………………
