He had tried a thousand times on the road, but Jiang Yi couldn’t get a single word out of Chu Chuan’s mouth. To say he wasn’t mad was impossible, but Chu Chuan seemed ever madder than he was— looking at him as if wondering how to dispose of his body.

During the celebration dinner with the basketball team, Chu Chuan sat opposite him but didn’t look at him once. Jiang Yi was already embarrassed as an outsider stealing the food, he couldn’t exactly ask to sit beside Chu Chuan.

While eating, everyone had drunk at least a few cups of alcohol. As the outside help the basketball team had invited, Chu Chuan was drinking with everyone. Jiang Yi held the cup and stood up, clinking it with Chu Chuan’s. The other glanced at him calmly, tilting his cup towards him in return, too lazy to even touch his cup.

    “…”

Why must he have such a bad temper?

Jiang Yi held the table and silently reached over a foot to kick him. He raised the tip of his shoe to the other’s leg, but Chu Chuan had somehow not felt it, talking to Zhong Yu normally.

Jiang Yi’s lips tightened, using more strength before kicking Chu Chuan’s leg again.

    He still didn’t react.

Though Zhong Yu, who was sitting beside him, paused, looking around as if looking for a ghost, “Who the fuck keeps kicking me under the table?”

    “……”

Chu Chuan only turned around then, looking at Jiang Yi.

Receiving the other’s sudden gaze, Jiang Yi curved his lips upwards and smiled.

After eating, the group of people made a beeline for the KTV. The people in the basketball team could only shout and couldn’t sing but they were still fighting to duet with Chang Xi.

“I’m not singing with tone-deaf people.” Chang Xi giggled and pulled Jiang Yi over, handing him the other mic, “I see you’re handsome as ever, classmate, you must sing well too.”

“You really want to sing with me?” Jiang Yi hesitated.

    Chang Xi nodded confidently.

In the end, when Jiang Yi sang with the accompaniment, in 10 words, 8 were off-key. Chang Xi pushed him away in disgust and the card gamers adopted him. Perhaps his luck wasn’t very good today, but before 5 minutes were up, Jiang Yi had already lost a bunch.

He was then punished for doing 20 pushups with the only girl in the room on him.

Chu Chuan walked in and heard that, his gaze flying past Jiang Yi’s head and walked over, “How can you all be so shameless to bully a girl?”

“Can’t help it. I’m scared a guy will be too heavy.”

Chu Chuan raised his eyelids, “Don’t you know to change a punishment if it’s too heavy?”

“Then Chu Chuan can lie below while Jiang Yi does the pushups.”

    “Okay? Jiang Yi? Jiang Yi?”

After receiving no responses after shouting, Zhong Yu looked at Jiang Yi in confusion. Yet he found that he looked blank, as if he lost his soul and was immersed in his memories.

Jiang Yi didn’t know how to respond. He opened his mouth, but found that his voice wouldn’t come out. The lights above his head flashed and in a split second, he couldn’t tell where he was exactly.

But the beating heart in his chest reminded him again and again, everything is real. After so many years, although the timing was slightly different, the same thing had happened again.

The reason Jiang Yi remembered this basketball match from his last life very clearly was largely because of the celebration that night. Chu Chuan and he had come out of the closet that day.

But something different happened this time, and he hadn’t had the time to get together with Chu Chuan before the celebration. But some of the minor details, the butterfly effects brought about from travelling back in time had lost their use. The same room and the same game, even Zhong Yu’s words were the same, making Jiang Yi think—

From the start, his two lives were intertwined.

His heart pounded in his ears. His emotions were as chaotic as the wild grass in summer, blocking his throat and vocal chords, stopping him from speaking.

It wasn’t because he didn’t know how to say it, but because he had too much to say. Jiang Yi nodded silently instead.

Chu Chuan used his basketball shirt as a pillow and lay down, leaving a bit of space between his two legs. Jiang Yi placed two hands on the sides of his face and rested his legs in the space between Chu Chuan’s.

His entire body was suspended above Chu Chuan, in a distance close enough that he would see the other’s pupils the moment he looked down. He tensed his arms and slowly lowered his body, making sure he couldn’t touch the other.

Chu Chuan’s face got closer and closer to him, to the point that the small lashes on his face could be seen too. His gaze slid down from the other’s brow to nose, till it finally landed on Chu Chuan’s pale lips.

Their noses grazed past each other, his face warm and tinglish, as if they had kissed.

Chu Chuan squinted, mouthing, “Where are you looking?”

    “…..”

Should’ve chosen to carry Chang Xi instead. He closed his eyes and focused on pushups instead.

He panted and finished the last one. As Jiang Yi was pushing himself up, he started spacing out.

How did he come out of the closet then? Jiang Yi’s memory was still clear after all this time. In 20 pushups, he could only do 15 before he couldn’t hold on anymore, getting up from Chu Chuan’s body and intending to use alcohol as an alternative. But Chu Chuan had kissed him before he could.

What were the others’ expressions? Jiang Yi could also recall this perfectly. The bunch of straight men in the basketball team gawked, frozen in shock while the giggling from Chang Xi stopped. She looked like… like…

Something warm landed on his lips and interrupted his thoughts. Jiang Yi’s eyes widened, but only saw Chu Chuan’s lashes.

In the few seconds he had spaced out, the man sitting beneath had already sat up and—

    Kissed him.

    Reality and memory overlapped.

Everyone’s expressions were the same as before.

    Just like—

Jiang Yi’s brain made a loop, thinking dryly, just like—

Just like him who didn’t know what to do right now.

Though, he seemed to have forgotten something.

What did Chu Chuan say last time? Oh, Jiang Yi recalled with difficulty, he said, “Liking men isn’t embarrassing so why can’t I say it.”

But the Chu Chuan in front of him only cupped his face with one hand and pinched his waist with the other, his voice low like a violin, laughter hidden within it, “Didn’t you say I should kiss you back?”

Even Jiang Yi’s eyes were red.
