The physical education teacher reported Yao Jin’s situation to the homeroom teacher. The homeroom teacher quickly contacted her parents and gave her a few days off to stay at home to recuperate.

The person who came to pick her up from the infirmary was Yao Wei’s* female assistant, Qin Qing. (*T/N: Yao Wei is one of Yao Jin’s mothers, this is not explicit in the text till later but well here you go)

After the school’s doctor injected Yao Jin with a special suppressant, it didn’t take her long to recover her consciousness but her low-grade fever did not subside and her body still felt weak. 

She sat on the infirmary’s bed with an exhausted face and when she saw it was Qin Qing who came to pick her up, her pale lips sank into a frown in an instant. 

After getting into the car, she curled up against the corner of the car, her forehead pressed against the cool glass of the car’s window as she silently closed her eyes. 

After a period of silence, she heard Qin Qing start the engine and then call out in an apologetic voice, “I’m sorry, Jin-Jin. President Yao had an important meeting she couldn’t leave. So she sent me to pick you up first and asked me to take you to the hospital for a full examination.” 

“Hospital?” 

Yao Jin sneered, her eyes full of ridicule as she opened them, “I’m not going.” 

Qin Qing replied awkwardly, “But….you suddenly fainted at school and President Yao is really worried about you. Won’t it be better if we go to the hospital to make sure everything is okay?” 

“If she’s so worried about me, why didn’t she come here herself to take me to the hospital?” 

Qin Qing glanced at Yao Jin’s pale face in the rearview mirror, feeling a sense of pity and helplessness for the girl. She has been Yao Wei’s assistant for some years now and she had some understanding of Yao Wei’s family situation.
