“Mei Mei, do you think what she said is reliable?” Xia He walked into the house and asked Qiao Mei worriedly.

Qiao Mei smiled indifferently and said, “It doesn’t matter if it’s real or fake. Elder sister, don’t think about it anymore. Let’s eat. Why hasn’t Second Aunt-in-law come out of the kitchen after so long?”

Since Qian’e arrived, Liu Fen had been very quiet in the kitchen. There were only the three of them having dinner at home, so there was no need for her to prepare too much food. They wondered why she had not come out yet.

Qiao Mei and Xia He made their way to the kitchen quietly. When they opened the door, they saw Liu Fen sitting on a chair and leaning against the wall, fast asleep. Her brows were furrowed and it was clearly restless sleep. She was still holding on to the spatula tightly.

The two of them looked at each other and smiled. They knew that Second Aunt-in-law was very timid, but they did not expect her to have been so frightened.

Xia He went forward and nudged Liu Fen gently. “Second Aunt-in-law… Second Aunt-in-law, wake up! Wake up!”

Liu Fen woke up in a fright and hurriedly raised the metal spatula and pointed it at Xia He. She opened her eyes wide and stared hard. When she saw that it was Xia He and Qiao Mei in front of her, she relaxed.

“You wretched girl! You scared me half to death! I thought some bad guy had come!” Liu Fen said as she patted her chest.

“Come, Second Aunt-in-law. Let’s eat. She has already left.” Xia He helped Liu Fen up and led her to the living room to take a rest. Her shoulders must be so sore after sleeping in the kitchen for so long.

The three of them quickly finished their meal and cleaned up before returning to their rooms to rest.

The next morning, Xia He woke up very early. She did not sleep well the entire night and felt flustered whenever she thought about what Qian’e had said. However, Qiao Mei was as calm and composed as if nothing had happened.

Xia He sat in the living room in a daze with dark circles under her eyes. She was very fidgety and only looked forward to the afternoon so that she could know what He Mei was up to. Only then would they be able to find a way to deal with it.

Qiao Mei got up lazily from the bed and walked downstairs with her hair in a messy bun. At this hour, Liu Fen would be out grocery shopping and it would be a long time before she got back.
