Yan Xueshan said these words very calmly, like a deep current under an iceberg and snow, cold and indifferent.

He lowered his head and straightened his back. This was the standard sitting posture for soldiers, so it also made him look more rigid and stubborn.

Yan Xueshan would trim his hair with the simplest style. It was refreshing and clean, neither too long nor too short.

Obviously Yan Xueshan was older than him, but Arthur sometimes inexplicably found him childish and innocent. So cute.

Arthur asked, “You chatted with people about this? Did you have a good relationship with him?”

Yan Xueshan recalled as he said, “It was his daughter’s birthday that day and he was very happy. He drank some wine, got drunk and talked to me about his wife and daughter.

“He said his wife is the best in the universe so I must also find a good wife in the future.”

Arthur: “Hahahahahahaha.”

Arthur didn’t know much about Master Sergeant Gao Yan, he only saw a thin sheet of information with distorted photo printed on it, that he wasn’t even able to remember.

In a few words, Yan Xueshan outlined a vivid image.

Arthur asked, “Then what was your answer to him?”

Yan Xueshan said, “I answered him, ‘Not necessarily.’”

Arthur could almost imagine Yan Xueshan saying this seriously with an iceberg expression, making him want to laugh again.

Then:

“He was surprised and said, ‘Huh? You are actually planning to get married?’

“Then I said, ‘Yes.’

“Then he laughed and said to me ‘I wonder what kind of person you’re going to be with. If the day comes when you get married,  you must invite me to the wedding.’”

Arthur sat down. Sitting upright and relaxed, he asked with interest, “So what do you think now?”

Yan Xueshan didn’t understand, but felt that Arthur seemed to be playing tricks again so he asked, “What do you mean? “

Arthur: “Do you feel that you got the best partner in the universe?”

Yan Xueshan: “I don’t think it can be compared in this way. For each of us, we should think that our partner is the best.”

How lovely, Arthur thought. He couldn’t help himself; he suddenly came over and kissed him on the cheek.

Yan Xueshan was dumbfounded as he asked him, “What are you kissing me for?”

Arthur smilingly replied, “No reason, I just wanted to kiss you very much.”

Yan Xueshan thought he was really like an energetic puppy. He was happy and lively all day and would come over to rub against you if he had nothing else to do.

He didn’t mind.

He only thought he would adapt to it more in future.

Arthur pointed to several other names and asked him who they were.

Yan Xueshan answered him one by one.

“This is the caregiver who took care of me when I was in the orphanage.”

“This is the instructor who wrote me a recommendation letter for the Military University when I enlisted at the age of 18.”

“These are a few of my college professors.”

“This is my first partner and his wife from when I joined the Army.”

And so on….

Yan Xueshan wrote the list, which wasn’t a long list for his thirty-three years of life. He usually didn’t contact these people casually. He would only send brief greetings on New Year’s Day to show that he was still alive.

After writing the list, he carefully checked it once, nodded with satisfaction, and said sincerely, “I’m a relatively lucky person. I have met some good people since I was a child.”

How could you? What a little fool,  Arthur thought as he made a rough survey of Yan Xueshan’s resume. For example, in college, Yan Xueshan was excluded because of his poor background and excellent grades, but he himself didn’t realize it. He was very loved and protected by several teachers.

Later, when he entered the army, he was sent to the front line to participate in the cruelest battles. Yet he didn’t find anything wrong about that.

It’s just that none of these tribulations could defeat him. Every time he encountered them, they only made him stronger.

After the two of them got their marriage certificate, they only informed Arthur’s parents. The Vega Civil Affairs Bureau had helped them with the formalities, so they knew, but promised to keep it a secret for them. In exchange, they asked for a photo with the two of them, with an autograph!

As the two of them sneaked to their own paradise, they didn’t care about the flood of discussion on the interstellar network.

Yan Xueshan took a break and stood by the window that looked over the fields.

While he was away, he rented the farm to Uncle Qiao, and three months later it already turned into a lush and prosperous scene.

He saw Uncle Qiao coming in that old-fashioned agricultural mecha, cracking as it stopped in his front yard. Then he opened the cockpit window and poked his head out. “Is that Yan Xueshan? I could see some movement from my house so I decided to check if you are back!”

Yan Xueshan went downstairs to meet him. “It’s been a long time. Uncle Qiao.”

Seeing him this time, Uncle Qiao seemed to get reacquainted with him. His cheeks flushed and he was even a bit nervous as he spoke with every bit of respect he could muster. “While you were away, I have been taking good care of your fields. Why don’t you check it out?”

Yan Xueshan: “Thank you. I believe in you, you are more capable than me in farming.”

Uncle Qiao looked as if he didn’t dare to take what Yan Xueshan said seriously, but he also became instinctively happy, stroking the back of his head as he smiled innocently.

He listened to that little boy Song Chao all night talk about how powerful Yan Xueshan and Arthur were. After listening in daze he became vaguely aware that these two were big shots.
