The peasant girl played by Jiang Rui is nicknamed Yingniang. Both of her parents died and she lives in the mountains with her grandfather. One day at noon, she went out to call her grandfather who was fishing by the river to come home for dinner. She found Lu Zhao, the protagonist played by Shen Yuchuan, by the side of a small bush, and rescued him back home.

This is Jiang Rui’s first shot.

Before Wang Qikun finished speaking, someone immediately took her to make-up and asked her to change into a pink shirt and gouache skirt.

The movie “The Way of the Chivalry” is not a comedy in the real sense, nor can it be said to be a tragedy. The tone of the whole film is gray. Whether it is the protagonist or the supporting role, the makeup and costumes are gray and simple. Only this little girl with only two shots is the only bright color in the film. She is also the most worry-free and carefree person in the whole story from beginning to end.

After Jiang Rui put on her makeup, she is now listening to Wang Qikun’s lecture.

When Director Wang was not angry, he was no different from an ordinary half-old man. It was hard to imagine that such great anger could erupt from his thin body.

Jiang Rui’s expression was no longer nervous now and a pair of round apricot eyes stared at Wang Qikun, for fear of missing any words he had said.

Director Wang is accustomed to the attention, standing on the stage, thousands of people watching him, he does not have stage fright. But for anyone who is stared at at such a close distance, there is no way to ignore it. Moreover, those eyes are still full of worship, admiration, and amazement.

He has seen countless people and it is natural to tell whether a person is showing sincerity or falsehood. Seeing Jiang Rui’s expression of admiration, Wang Qikun wondered if this girl was a childcare worker hired by him.

He suddenly stopped and gave Jiang Rui a fierce look: “What are you staring at me? Prick your ears to listen!”

“Pricked up, ears pricked up.” Jiang Rui said hurriedly.

Wang Qikun was speechless, “Just prick your ears up, don’t stare at me!”

“But…” Jiang Rui squeezed her fingers, a little ashamed, “If I don’t stare at you, I’m afraid I won’t remember. I’m so stupid, if I make a mistake later, I will make Director Wang angry.”

It’s pretty stupid. Wang Qikun said, still speaking in a bad tone: “I am so fierce, can I still eat you?”

Jiang Rui lowered her head and whispered in a small voice: “It’s so hot, it’s bad for your health to get angry all the time.”

Wang Qikun was dumb and did not know what to say for a while, so he waved his hand impatiently, “Go and think about it yourself. The shooting will start in ten minutes.”

Jiang Rui obediently ran to the side to think.

Ten minutes passed quickly, the on-site equipment was adjusted, and the actors were in place.

With the creak of the fence gate, Yingniang, played by Jiang Rui, walked out of the farmyard.

There is no description of this part in the script at all. When Wang Qikun told her about the position just now, he only said to come out, but didn’t say how to go. These details, facial expressions, demeanor, and other body language, all need actors to appreciate and play by themselves.

Although Yingniang was an ancient girl, she had no parents since she was a child and she grew up with her grandfather. There must be no one to teach her how to be a lady with a proper demeanor. Besides, she is not very old and her personality is not stable enough, so she still hums while walking. While singing, she looked forward to seeing the wildflowers blooming on the side of the road and picked two of them at random. After passing by a bush of lush dog’s tail grass, she pulled out two grass branches and weaved a puppy while walking.

These were all Jiang Rui’s own thoughts, but she did not hear Director Wang yelling to stop, so she knew it was right to do so.

Outside the camera, Wang Qikun nodded slightly.

He ordered Jiang Rui on impulse just now, and after he calmed down, he was a bit annoyed. But seeing the look on the little girl’s eagerly anticipating face, it was not easy to turn back and tell people that he did not want her anymore, so he had to be patient and condescending to tell her about the little supporting role. Fortunately, although this girl looked a bit stupid, she was not stage fright after she was on camera. She had a good understanding of the characters, acting as an innocent, lively, carefree girl.

In the camera, Yingniang is humming a little tune, focusing on the straw weaves in her hand, not paying attention to her feet, and suddenly feeling that she has stepped on a soft object.

There are often snakes and rats in the mountains. She thought she stepped on a snake, and immediately, she stopped humming the folk song and the puppy stopped making up songs. She screamed and ran back. After running for more than ten steps, she stopped and looked back tremblingly. But saw a man lying in the bushes, his upper body covered in weeds and his legs lying across the path.

The camera zoomed in, giving a close-up of the protagonist who was unconscious on the ground.

“Cut!” Wang Qikun shouted.

Shen Yuchuan’s assistant immediately stepped forward, helped him up from the grass, and patted the grass off his body.

Jiang Rui had been standing by the side, seeing that the two of them were almost finished, she hesitated and said, “Teacher Shen… Just offended.”

Shen Yuchuan glanced at her slightly unexpectedly and realized that she was talking about stepping on his foot just now, “It’s okay.”

Jiang Rui looked at him again.

Shen Yuchuan thought she had something to say, but she turned and ran away.

“Brother Shen, is that little girl afraid of you?” His assistant Xiao Chen said.

“Afraid of me?” Shen Yuchuan raised his eyebrows slightly, this kind of saying is rare.

“Yes, I saw that she was standing by for a long time just now, thinking she was looking for you to talk to, or asking for an autograph, but she just came to apologize to you. After apologizing, she looked like she wanted to talk but stopped. If you want to talk but dare not say it, this is not the performance of fans seeing an idol.” Xiao Chen felt that his words were well-founded and nodded after speaking.

Shen Yuchuan glanced at him: “Watch less so-called mystery novels.”

Xiao Chen refused: “But Brother Shen, you have to admit that what I said is the truth.”

Shen Yuchuan ignored him and walked towards the director, ready to see how this shot was going.

Jiang Rui had already rushed to Wang Qikun’s side and was leaning over to look at the camera.

Others respect and fear Director Wang who has a bad temper and avoid it when he is not filming. But, she doesn’t seem to be afraid at all.

Wang Qikun suddenly raised his eyebrows and said something, she just smirked without temper.

When Shen Yuchuan saw this scene, Xiao Chen’s words were still in his ears, and he couldn’t help muttering to himself: “Afraid of me? I didn’t scold anyone.”

The scene is over.

To be honest, everyone present was quite surprised. In the past, when did Director Wang not find fault, insisting on picking out some faults?

In fact, this time Wang Qikun also picked his picks. For example, he thought Jiang Rui’s folk song was not good, the puppy she made up was too ugly, and her screaming sound was like a crow.

But he was so picky, and people just smiled and said yes without a single rebuttal, so he found it boring to pick and choose himself.

Besides, apart from the nitpicking flaws he mentioned, there are no other flaws in this one scene.

People with bad tempers are like this. The more you go against him, the angrier he will be. You have to go along with it a few times and his temper will naturally subside if he can’t meet his opponent, and the anger will naturally cease.

Since there is no problem, then start shooting the next scene.

In the second shot, the protagonist Lu Zhao had been moved back to the house, lying on the bed, and he was still awake.

Yingniang watched him from the side.

She has lived in the mountains since she was a child, and apart from her grandfather, she had never seen many outsiders. So she was a little curious about what she picked up from the roadside.

At first, she just gathered around the bed and watched.

After watching for a while, her courage slowly grew and she stretched out her hand to touch his clothes on the left and his hair on the right. While touching, she was distracted to see if he woke up.

Seeing that the person had been sleeping all the time, she became more courageous. She tried to lift Lu Zhao’s hand and compared it with her own and found that his palm was more than a circle larger than her own. She could not help being both novel and amazed.

This process was a bit long, Wang Qikun only watched behind the camera without urging.

After the film is shooted, post-production editing is required. Sometimes the actor plays for ten minutes, and it may not be one minute for the actual broadcast. Just like the two shots taken by Jiang Rui, they take five or six minutes together, but in the movie, she may only appear for tens of seconds.

But even so, she still needs to show the whole process continuously and completely.

In the camera, Yingniang played with Lu Zhao’s hand for a while and then gradually her attention was attracted to his face. Lying on the side of the bed, she looked at Lu Zhao’s straight nose for a long time and finally made up her mind to touch it.

Shen Yuchuan kept his eyes closed and could feel the slight movement on his body, like some small animal tentatively. It didn’t take long before he realized that his palm was being held. The hand holding him was very soft and the palm was slightly cool.

He doesn’t like other people’s touch very much. Sometimes the plot requires it, so he has to endure it.

But in such hot weather like now, when he was wearing heavy ancient clothes and his palms were sweating, he suddenly touched a pair of cold and soft hands. He had to admit that this feeling was not annoying and he even wanted to squeeze those hands directly in his palms to dissipate the heat from his body.

Not long after, he felt quiet around him and a body slowly approached.

It’s now…

Lu Zhao opened his eyes suddenly, grasped the wrist of the visitor with lightning speed, and the two of them looked at each other with big eyes.

Yingniang was stunned and looked at him blankly.

Lu Zhao frowned slightly and quickly judged that the girl in front of him was not threatening. He released his hand and looked around, knowing that he was rescued.

“Thank you, girl.” His voice was a little hoarse after sleeping for too long.

Yingniang got up and ran, disappearing outside the door in a blink of an eye. After a while, a head cautiously poked out from behind the door panel and looked at Lu Zhao carefully. As if she was sure he would not come after her, she suddenly tilted her head and smiled brightly.

Her face was not very distinctive, but when she laughed, it seemed as if stars fell into those dark eyes, which made people’s hearts twitch.
