The Woman in the Storybook (2)

Not long after Zhuo Lian read the script, she was killed by her clansmen. Hence, she remembered the contents of the book very clearly, knowing that after Huan Shen became the famous Lord of the Town of Zhou, he was killed by Huan Zhuo when he was young. After the treatment of arsenic soup, the root of the disease was dropped temporarily, but it flared again and he died in the first year of his establishment.

Calculating the time, Huan Shen just killed Huan Zhuo to avenge his sister, and he lost his life within a few months.

Zhuo Lian lived in the Republic of China. She has experienced wars and blood separation. Although she feared the Lord of town Zhou from the book, she was unwilling to hurt the general who protects the people. So, she dumped the medicine soup in the bowl without thinking and it fell on the ground.

As soon as the arsenic touched the ground, many bubbles and hissing noises echoed.

Zhuo Lian felt a little strange and didn’t understand what was going on, but the struggling Huan Shen thoughts were clear as a mirror. He didn’t expect that Zhuo’s was so ruthless, in order to leave with Yu Man, she used poison to murder him.

The reason why he knew this was because Huan Shen happened to encounter a case when he was escorting prisoners with the government. A small concubine from a wealthy family bought arsenic and planned to murder his mistress. If it weren’t for soup, dropping over and bubbles appearing on the ground, then no one would have known that the seemingly common medicinal soup was highly poisonous.

Although Zhuo Lian had never seen arsenic, she caught a glimpse of Huan Shen’s sudden change in expression. She secretly said something was wrong, knowing that she had taken that step wrong, and shouldn’t have poured the medicinal soup in front of him.

At the moment of her shortness of breath, she walked around towards the youth, pointing to the damaged ground, and tremblingly asked, “What’s going on? This medicine is so strong, how can a person drink it and survive?”

Hearing the weakness in her voice, Huan Shen couldn’t help but sneer.

In the beginning, when big brother left Bianzhou, this wicked woman already had an affair with Yu Man; after the news of Big Brother’s death came, she became even more aggressive, meeting with Yu Man in the broken temple not far away day after day. Though Huan Shen’s heart felt suffocated, he didn’t intervene, after all, Zhuo had just turned 16, and she was still a few years younger, wasting her whole life in the Huan family was too forceful.

I never thought that Zhuo Lian not only did not abide by the woman’s morality but also tied him up, wanting to murder him. Such a venomous woman, it is simply chilling.

He stared at the woman who was close at hand, and Huan gritted his teeth and carefully asked, “Zhuo, you and my eldest brother have made a marriage contract since childhood, and you were willing to marry in the Huan family at the beginning. No one has ever mistreated you, so you are doing this now. Are you worthy of your conscience for the evil of killing?”

Zhuo Lian, who accepted the original memory, knew that what Huan Shen said was indeed the truth.

The previous Zhou Lian’s birth mother was driven out of the Zhuo family, and her father married a stepmother. Therefore, the life of the Huan Zhou in the Zhuo family was extremely difficult. Even if she knew that Huan Jin would soon be transferred to the capital, even after marrying, she was still a living widow, she still had no complaint. Marrying here meant completely severing contact with the Zhuo family.

Neither the original Zhou Lian nor the current Zhuo Lian had thought of murdering Huan Shen. If the medicine package had not been replaced, the subsequent tragedy would never happen, so she would not admit it.

Organizing her thoughts, Zhuo Lian calmly said, “Uncle, you have misunderstood.”

“Misunderstood? If you really didn’t know, you would not pour the medicinal soup on the ground.” Huan Jin and Huan Shen were real brothers, But their temperament was completely different. One was gentle and considerate while the other was suspicious and thoughtful.

Zhuo Lian sighed, knowing that she could not resolve Huan Shen’s suspicion in a few words. She stared at the sweaty youth in front of her, took a dry soft cloth from the wooden frame next to her, turned, and walked back.

“I’ll wipe it for you, you are sweating a lot. If you stay in the cold wind, I’m afraid you will catch the wind.”

Huan Shen felt annoyed and looked fierce, as if a tiger, ready to eat his prey.

Although his hands were tied, his body was still able to move. With a sweep of his arms, he threw the soft cloth on the ground, staining it with a lot of mud. The young man raised his head and stared at Zhuo Lian with his excessively bright eyes, burning with anger.

The woman’s unstretched thin eyebrows frowned more severely, and she picked up the soft cloth, changed another one, lifted the young man’s chin covered with black stubble, and carefully wiped it a few times.

Huan Shen was nearly nine feet tall and has been a guard in Bianzhou for nearly a year. His strength wasn’t less, but now he was firmly bound by hemp rope.

After the sweat stains on the young man’s forehead disappeared, Zhuo Lian bent down, untied the hemp rope wrapped around his wrist, took the stained soft cloth, and rubbed it in a wooden basin to clean it. Then she walked out of the hut and left the house. All the remaining tonics were stuffed out into the stove and in a couple of seconds, the flames of fire rolled and burned them completely.

Sitting on the bench, Zhuo Lian was at a loss. She didn’t know where to go.

In the Republic of China, she was the owner of the Zhuo Family Winery. The coix wine1 brewed was famous all over the world. If it weren’t for the recipe of coix wine, the clan elders would not take advantage of the chaos in the city and take people to the wine shop, threatening her in the face of the cold and bone-chilling mouth of the well

Zhuo Lian didn’t want to let these shameless and despicable villains get the recipe and simply struggled desperately. At last, she fell alive and died in the well, coming to the Zhou Dynasty by accident.

In any case, she had lost her life for nothing, so she must live well since she is here.
