Awaking from the darkness of the void I entered into the darkness of a random house, here I laid on top of a bed resting my body.

As I climbed to my feet the floor boards had made a great creak and this sound was so loud that the only person nearby easily heard it.

As the person had heard the creak in the room, they approached in a manner as if in no real rush. They seemed to have all the time in the world or was just very patient.

Hearing the thump of their foot as it hits the floorboards i begin to panic…

'What the hell system?! Where am I, need an explanation! Quick!'

[Host, you are in the home village of the male protagonist Tatsumi, here Tatsumi is already three years old and I suggest you train alongside him]

'Thanks system.'

I look about and study the environment until I felt a little lighter as I tried too move.

Looking down onto my clothes I notice that something was off 'These are not my pants' was all that came to mind.

Yep, I was currently wearing clothing that was not mine.

'System, explain'

[Your caretaker found that they were soaking wet do to the snow, and is cleaning them]

'Thanks again.'

*Sigh~*

As I gave the system a silent thumbs up for the quick overview of the situation it had managed to track I did try my best to calm down in preparation of meeting the village elder. Or at least that might be who I'am meeting.

Yet in the end I still let out a sigh in frustration.

Maybe it could be the birth parents of Tatsumi or one of the others who came from the village…Yet got killed.

...

Lets not think of that for the moment.

The foot steps began to grow in volume and then they were right outside the door of the room I stayed in.

The door opened at a slow [ace with a loud eery creak lasting much longer than the creaking of the floorboards.

After the door had finally opened, before me stood a man with a small graying beard and wrinkly face, he seemed gentle yet deep in his eyes was a great fierceness.

This was the mayor of the village, seems for now he is my caretaker.

He spoke.

"Ah, I see you finally woke up young one. You had many people deeply worried."

He had spoken to me as if trying to coax a child… Wait, I'am a child.

He did his best to slowly approach and sit on a chair at the bed side.

"You see, you were found outside in the below freezing temperatures by a Hunter who was out checking his traps. Had he not done so, you might be frozen. I understand that you might have a few questions, but please just rest for now. I will deliver you your clothes after they are done drying over the fire."

He spoke without a stutter and in an easy way. He seemed to have helped countless people before myself and so I just lied down to rest as instructed.

--------------------------------

It was the next morning, and time for breakfast. As I awoke I found my Kabuto Silver Robe at the edge of the bed, and so I quickly donned it and wore my boots.

Heading out from the room the aroma of stew came flooding in my nostrils. I could not contain myself and my stomach let out a small roar due to my hunger.

The people around who heard the little roar was the Mayor and his wife, they looked at me smiling as if their own grandson was standing before them.

"Well, well. I see you woke up early, why not come and sit down. Breakfast will only take a moment to prepare now." The wife of the Mayor spoke to me in a gentle tone and quickly suggested for me to join in on their meal.

It was nice, very much so.

The time we spent eating though was also question time.

"So Young one, what should we call you?" The mayor wanted to start off simple. Trying his best not to scare me off like most probably would.

"Rei, Rei Muramasa. That is my name. But most had coined me as Crow Kid where I'am from."

The Mayor seemed to completely understand my name and did not find it unusual, but what struck him weird was the odd nickname.

"And why is that? You do not have wings nor the feathers of a crow. Not even a beak!"

He wanted to ask and so he did, but he said this in a manner of a joke to put me at ease, he was a kind hearted old man. And off to the sideline the old woman was also very interested.

So I told them.

"My parents were killed on he day of my birth, they were killed by a giant demon beast known as the Kyuubi. The Kyuubi was a giant orange fox demon that destroyed and thrashed our village. My parents just so happen to be casualties. Only my sister didn't treat me as some omen or monster since that day. And the only friends I could make were with the crows. hence the nickname."

They were shocked, not only at the fact that I could so easily speak in full paragraphs but at my past. i was a child who had a life of only hardship. One that was almost completely abandoned since birth, it was a marvelous history behind such a weird nickname.

The couple smiled gently toward me once again, only this time the sympathy overflowed.

"And what happened out in the forest? How did you end up there?"

He knew he shouldn't ask, but for the sake of his village he must know. Especially after what he heard of a giant village destroying beast. Kyuubi.

"I don't really remember, sorry. What I do remember was that I was running… From something, I also remember my crows attacking whatever it was that was after me. My sister, we got separated."

"Oh, I'm sorry Rei, I didn't mean to make you remember such things. Forgive me."

The Mayor felt horrible that I had to remember such things because of his questions, and now we sat in silence as we ate our meal.

--------------------------------

After the meal, the Mayor decided it would be best for me to take my mind off of the incident by taking me for a walk in the village.

We walked throughout the village well over an hour, in this time I got to see the Alchemist Shop the Wood Logging building a Barn the Fields several Shops and even the Blacksmith.

The final stop for my tour will be located in the back of the village, there lies a training field.

We slowly approached the field as we heard the shouts of children training and a trainer hollering commands and how they should be working harder.

As we finally reached the training grounds there was a large group of children, the number reached about twenty. This group included the main three who were mentioned in the manga and anime. Tatsumi was training his sword, Sayo and her bow, finally Ieyasu had his axe.

They were all very skilled for their age, but at their currently level they cannot match me. That worries me, they can become good night raid members. AS long as they can remain loyal.

The instructor stops the training regimen as he saw the Mayor approach.

"Hello Mayor, what can I do for you today?"

The Mayor shrugged off the greeting, and directly pushed me toward the trainer.

"This is Rei Muramasa, I thought that he could also join in on the training for the next several years."

It seems the Mayor thought that I would want revenge for my village against the fox and those that hunted me down.

*Heh!*

I smile to myself, as this old man truly has a mind that is similar to my own.
