Ning Qingqing hurriedly waved to her mother.

When Ning Ruojun saw her, her eyes focused slightly, but her pace remained steady and calm.

Yet, Ning Qingqing was a little nervous, and she quickly said to Gu Youchen beside her, “Youchen, I will introduce you by name first, and then we will find a place to sit down and talk about our marriage.”

Gu Youchen nodded, “Okay.”

Ning Qingqing took a deep breath and began to concoct a narrative.

However, her phone rang at this moment. It was the bank calling to inform her that a financial product she had invested in had matured and asked if she wanted to purchase more.

Ning Qingqing talked to the person on the phone for a few moments, but because it was noisy on this side, the bank staff couldn’t hear her clearly. So, Ning Qingqing gestured to her mother and walked to a quieter spot to answer the call.

Ning Ruojun walked out of the arrivals terminal.

She had seen Gu Youchen next to Ning Qingqing when she was heading over and saw the two were talking, so they were obviously acquainted.

She had come over today purely to meet the person Ning Qingqing wanted to introduce, so she had no plans to stay here for long. Besides, there were still things to deal with in the company. She planned to meet the person and then leave, that was why she hadn’t brought her assistant with her.

She headed towards the spot where Ning Qingqing had been standing.

The moment when Gu Youchen saw her, his heart was already in turmoil.

He recognized her immediately. She was Ning Venture Capital’s founder, largest shareholder, and current CEO, Ning Ruojun.

Three years ago, Gu Youchen had seen her at a financial summit overseas.

She was the representative of China and spoke fluent English at the financial summit. Her speech was simple and straightforward and cut straight to the heart.

Gu Youchen was impressed by her.

But his little delicate wife said that her mother was the CEO of a finance company, which was not considered large and was originally located in their hometown. The market there was reaching saturation, so they decided to move to Beijing.

Before the colleague gathering the other day, Gu Youchen asked Ning Qingqing for her company’s name while she was eating the egg tart he had made for her. With something in her mouth, he misheard the name as “Ning Zhuang Capital.”1

As it turned out, that company actually existed. Gu Youchen later checked with Tianyancha2 and found that the company was doing well in all aspects and had been established for five years, developing in a steady and regular manner.

Thinking that since Ning Qingqing’s mother was a professional manager there, although the company’s scale was indeed average and the potential projects they could get would have relatively small budgets, he had thought that Ning Qingqing would have no practical experience in finance, having only worked in legal-related jobs after graduating. It would be good for her to go to a small company first to gain some experience.

However, Gu Youchen never expected that the “not that big” company his little delicate wife had mentioned was actually Ning Venture, an influential name in the southern finance industry!

He had heard earlier that Ning Venture Capital seemed to be coming to Beijing. The Gu family had also paid attention to this matter, as there might be some venture capital projects they could cooperate on in the future.

But what was unexpected was that he had actually met the real boss Ning Ruojun in person, and in such a situation!

Gu Youchen suppressed his shock and took the initiative to approach Ning Ruojun, extending his hand: “Hello, CEO Ning, I’m Gu Youchen–“

Ning Qingqing did not let him reveal his identity, so this issue of how to address her was temporarily set aside.

As he spoke, he had already handed over his business card.

Ning Ruojun calmly took it and directed her gaze at Gu Youchen, and asked bluntly, “Do you like my daughter?”

Gu Youchen was taken aback. He never expected that Ning Qingqing’s mother would see through him at a glance, and ask him directly without any hesitation.

He nodded and admitted frankly, “Yes.”

Ning Ruojun asked again, “She doesn’t know?”

Gu Youchen nodded, “No, Qingqing doesn’t know much about it.”

Ning Ruojun nodded, and her expression looked calm and sharp at the same time, “As far as I know, you have had no prior contact with my daughter. So do you really have feelings for my daughter, or do you hope for a business alliance?”

Meeting Ning Ruojun’s gaze, Gu Youchen spoke firmly, “CEO Ning, I only found out three minutes ago that she is your daughter. I like her, and that feeling has nothing to do with her family background.”

Ning Ruojun evaluated Gu Youchen and her mind automatically searched for information about him —

The current heirs of the Gu family, the two brothers of the Gu family, the elder’s son being Gu Youchen’s cousin, had no interest in business but loved antique restoration, and had studied under a famous master in the industry. He was also talented in this area and was now a rising star in the field of antique restoration.

As for the Gu family’s second son, Gu Heng, he only had one son, Gu Youchen, who went abroad to study at a young age. He had already shown his potential in business management by his freshman year and had previously been in charge of the Gu family’s overseas branch, doing a great job.

Ning Ruojun remembered that she had met the other person three years ago at a financial summit.

Although Gu Youchen did not have the qualifications to speak at the time, she remembered him because her assistant had made a mistake and lost a page of her speech. It was Gu Youchen who had found it and brought it to her himself. However, she was already on stage by then and had successfully delivered an impromptu speech without the notes, as everything she needed to say was already etched in her mind after over a decade in the workplace.

Thinking back on the past, her first impression of Gu Youchen was still pretty good.

She asked, “Xiao3 Gu, is it you that Qingqing wants to introduce to me? Has she approved of you and wants to be in a relationship with you, or do you want me to convince her?”

A week ago, Ning Ruojun had heard from her daughter that she had ended things with Shen Zhiqian. However, Ning Qingqing was slow to warm up in relationships, and Ning Ruojun didn’t believe that her daughter could have fallen for Gu Youchen in just a week.

“Actually…” Gu Youchen felt like it wouldn’t be good to hide this matter any longer.
