A Beast Soldier-rank beast was considered the lowest-ranked beast, equivalent to a tier one, three-star martial artist. As such, this Savage Sand Rat was considered a weaker enemy. If a beast had a higher rank or stronger body, naturally it would require a stronger martial artist to take down.

Xiang Ning immediately recalled all the information he had on the Savage Sand Rat, including how it’s a very common beast with strong reproductive powers that excelled in digging but had an average attack. He did a rough estimate on the size of the Savage Sand Rat and deduced that it would require a tier one, five-star martial artist to be its equal.

Now that I’m a tier one, six-star martial artist, a Savage Sand Rat the size of a dog shouldn’t pose a problem for me! he thought as he swallowed his saliva. He was somewhat nervous, since this was the first time he would be fighting a wild beast in reality.

He nervously stared at the glowing red eyes and sharp teeth. If he were to be bitten by those, it would easily cost him a chunk of flesh. Dropping his backpack and raising his pickaxe, he cautiously stared at the Savage Sand Rat.

Squeak squeak squeak. The Savage Sand Rat charged forward to attack. A martial artist’s vitality was like a torch within the darkness. It knew that its strength would increase if it ate him. That was the reason why if a martial artist were to meet face-to-face with a beast in the wild it was almost always a battle to the death; unless the martial artist was very exceptional in hiding their own vitality, that is. Xiang Ning wasn’t capable of doing that yet, so he could only choose to run or fight.

The Savage Sand Rat rushed toward Xiang Ning like a rocket, giving him little time to think before he was forced to turn and dodge the beast.

Pain flared across his arm as the beast scraped him. He looked at his bloodied arm, but resisted his fear and growled at the beast.

Level: Tier one, six-star martial artist (205/3000) +10

Xiang Ning instantly retaliated before the beast could recover from its charge. “Mountain-Splitting Slash!”

The prowess of a tier one, six-star martial artist was displayed as an enormous strength surged forward from his body and struck the beast. Without giving it a second to recover, he followed up with another attack and struck the beast’s leg with his pickaxe.

Even a wild beast could provide me with Fury Points?

The Savage Sand Rat retreated after being hit. When it turned around and stared at its prey it was shocked; through its beady red eyes, it saw that Xiang Ning’s eyes were glowing green.

When it tried to run away, Xiang Ning hurled his pickaxe with all his might. The Savage Sand Rat tried to leap away, but its wounded leg hampered its movement and the pickaxe smashed inches from its face.

It tried retreating again, but it couldn’t; it was struggling.

Xiang Ning was delighted when he saw the Fury Points, they were growing much faster than when he had provoked Zhang Cheng. He suddenly had a plan, but he needed to capture the beast first. The beast tried biting whenever Xiang Ning approached, but he responded by slamming it against the ground. Just when he tried grasping the rat’s neck, the beast slumped down as if it had died.

He was thrown off guard and used his hands to prod it. The beast showed no sign of life and he thought it was dead.

Haha! So it was playing dead!

He immediately grabbed its tail and ran back toward the entrance. He picked up his pickaxe and backpack along the way and returned to the entrance in ten minutes, then picked up a boulder and placed it on top of the beast, preventing its escape.

Once that was done, he ran toward Uncle Zhao’s workshop. “Uncle Zhao! Uncle Zhao! Quick, give me a sturdy rope!” he screamed as he ran.

Uncle Zhao, who was outside listening to music, was surprised by Xiang Ning’s screaming.

“Ning, what's the rush? Do you need some help?” He didn’t waste any time and handed Xiang Ning a strong and sturdy rope.

“No worries! Thank you Uncle Zhao! It’s just something minor, but I urgently need the rope, please help me evaluate these instead!” Xiang Ning received the rope and bowed toward Uncle Zhao, handing over his backpack before running back toward the mine.

Uncle Zhao was slightly at a loss, but when he saw what was in the backpack he almost dropped his pipe as his jaw fell.

Xiang Ning ran toward the mine as fast as he could and saw that the beast was trying to run away. When he got closer the beast immediately played dead again.

Xiang Ning chuckled, “Sorry for interrupting your escape.” As he said that he removed the beast from under the boulder and tied it to a large pickaxe.

The beast had been crucified by Xiang Ning.

Once completed, Xiang Ning admired his handiwork as he took the bound beast into the woods. The rat was still playing dead, but Xiang Ning knew what to do as he flicked his fingers and a sorrowful cry was heard.

If the Savage Sand Rat could speak it would’ve told everyone what kind of pervert Xiang Ning was to have flicked its testicles.

Xiang Ning saw that the Savage Sand Rat reacted and chuckled, “Not going to continue playing dead?”

The beast was mortified by how it had been caught. It had roamed the wilderness for some time, and had even seen how its larger kin battled against these strange bipedal monsters.

It wanted to be as strong as its kin and had left the pack to find a place for training, but suffered misfortune instead when it met Xiang Ning. After confirming Xiang Ning’s vitality it had attacked, thinking that it could always escape if it failed. But never would it have ever thought that Xiang Ning would tie it up after defeating it.

Fifteen minutes passed before the rat slumped down in defeat and it could no longer provide any Fury Points. By then it had provided Xiang Ning with around two thousand Fury Points. As he was thinking about how to get it to respond again, another thought flashed through his mind and he left.

When Xiang Ning returned, the beast caught a whiff of something delicious. The rat opened its red beady eyes and saw Xiang Ning holding grilled drumsticks and sausages—the scent was emanating from the food. It began drooling.

Xiang Ning tore off a piece of chicken and threw it toward the beast.

The Savage Sand Rat was ecstatic as it ate, because it had never eaten something so delicious before. But to its dismay, Xiang Ning proceeded to eat everything except the bones, which he tried feeding the Savage Sand Rat. The rat opened its mouth and bit into them, but only the sound of teeth clashing was heard.

Xiang Ning laughed as he threw the bone far in front of the Savage Sand Rat.

Demon! This guy is a demon!

It started thrashing against the restraint.

Fury Points +166

Xiang Ning stared at the Fury Points; it seemed that the maximum amount that the Savage Sand Rat could provide at one time was a hundred and sixty-six.
