Forbidden Zone of the Human Race

Chapter 263: Are You Nervous?

“Oh, this’ll do. Not bad! Those idiot Battle Faction members won’t expect Annot to be dressed up as a boy.” Anran clapped with glee and gave Xiang Ning an approving look, as if he had passed some kind of test.

“Alright, let’s go.” Anran gave instructions into a communicator, then they left the room.

The entire building went on lockdown within ten minutes. If anyone dared take a step out of their room, they would be stopped by the soldiers standing on both sides of the corridors. There were also EMP disruptors that disrupted all electronic communication except at a specific wavelength.

Just from the scale of the security, one could see the importance of the sixteen-year-old girl among the three parties.

The three of them entered an elevator and descended to the basement.

“Come, take this.” Xiang Ning held out the light shield that Fang Hao had given him at Fortress Three. When activated, it would form a transparent membrane that could block one full-power strike by a tier four fearsome beast. Xiang Ning wasn’t afraid of close-range attacks; long-range assassination attempts were the ones that would be difficult to stop.

“Get on the bike.” Xiang Ning patted the seat and Anran took out a custom-made helmet.

“It’s up to you now,” said Anran.

“Don’t worry.” Xiang Ning adjusted the protective mechanisms on the bike to the maximum, activating all of its functions. That way, he could speed off at maximum speed the moment any danger was detected.

Annot didn’t feel anxious at all under such circumstances, but rather excited to feel the wind on her face again.

The entourage left very quickly with three escort cars in front and a black sedan in the middle with another eight bikes surrounding it. Xiang Ning’s Windbreaker slipped into the center of it all with its Camouflage mode activated. Although it was slightly larger than the other bikes, it wasn’t obvious among so many vehicles.

They didn’t encounter any threats on the way to the stadium and smoothly escorted Annot inside. The stadium was already completely surrounded by people. Although only fifty thousand of them could directly watch the concert, many of them still stood outside to watch it being projected outside.

......

In her room, Annot had already changed into her costume. “Xiang Ning, do I look good in this?”

“Mmhmm, you look good.” He felt like her aura had been elevated by the white dress she wore. He felt a tremor in his Mental Power but very quickly recovered, though he still blurted out a reply.

Anran, who also snapped to her senses, was exasperated. Since when had Annot become a person that asked if she looked good? And Xiang Ning… was he a man? No, more specifically, was he even human? What kind of person could remain so calm when they saw Annot like this? Was he a robot?

“Alright, the next part is more dangerous. Before she begins, Annot always interacts with her fans at pre-planned locations.” Anran slightly opened the door. The rooms were assigned at random, and there was a corridor just outside her room that had been used by thousands of fans just now.

“Are you nervous?” A mercury-like metal flowed out from Xiang Ning’s chest and quickly enveloped his body, including his face. He would accompany Annot up on stage, but before that, he would activate Combat Instinct to identify and locate anyone with killing intent that had mixed in with the crowds.

“Nervous? Uh, not really. I’m very happy that many people on Mother Earth like my songs. I only hope to convey my message of peace to more people, so that everyone on Azura will live in peace,” said Annot.

“Alright, good luck.” Xiang Ning smiled and pushed the door open. In an instant, he activated Combat Instinct and Keen Observation to the maximum, carrying twenty flying knives hidden within his Heaven’s Key Armor. He had turned into a two-in-one radar and anti-weaponry system.

The clock struck seven o’clock sharp and the lights of the stadium dimmed as a white spotlight shone on a walkway. The noisy crowd of fifty thousand fans looked at the light and hushed. All they heard was their own heartbeat and breathing.

Ba-dum. Ba-dum. Ba-dum.

The clicking of heels on the ground echoed out and they felt their hearts racing. When the angel-like figure they yearned for appeared, they felt their hearts stop and their breathing halted for two whole seconds. Then the crowd erupted in cheers and applause.

It was deafening.

Even the people outside the stadium got busy cheering and applauding, excited to watch the projections.

Annot smiled. One smile of hers was enough to silence the crowd as they contentedly sighed. No one paid attention to Xiang Ning next to her. His face was hidden, and since he was in armor, he should be her bodyguard. They didn’t think much of him, though some were jealous.

But what they didn’t see was Xiang Ning’s smirk one minute after he appeared. “Three people at four o’clock, four people at eight o’clock, two at twelve o’clock. A total of eight people. Take note of anyone whose brows are furrowed or showing no expression on their face,” said Xiang Ning.

Outside the stadium, several modified trucks were hidden in the forest with various surveillance equipment inside. After receiving the report, a younger man pursed his lips in contempt. “Sounds like a child. I can’t believe they actually found someone under eighteen to be her bodyguard.”

“Shut up, quickly arrange for our people to watch the places he mentioned then report back.”

“No way, Team Leader. You believe him? There’s so many people here and our surveillance equipment didn’t even spot anything. What can this child find?” Although he was complaining, he still issued orders to the staff around him.

On the other side, a sniper team and soldiers disguised as medics sped toward the areas mentioned. Anyone who acted suspiciously, no matter if it was real or fake, were given a shot of strong sedative that even a tier four martial artist wouldn’t be able to withstand.

Three seconds later, a sniper reported, “We found one guy who reacted differently from the rest at four o’clock. We searched him and found a handgun.”

“Tsss!” The young man drew in a sharp breath. They actually found one!

Subsequently, Xiang Ning continued reporting everything he found suspicious, and his reports were confirmed within ten seconds.
