Forbidden Zone of the Human Race

Chapter 265: Immersed In The Music

Time slowly passed. Everything was going smoothly but the team grew increasingly uncomfortable. It was all too easy, just too easy. This concert was a great opportunity for the enemy, and although it was difficult, those greedy people shouldn’t pass up this event, right?

But the concert was already coming to an end.

Xiang Ning had a bad feeling, his Combat Instinct on high alert. On stage, the Angel’s Daughter, Annot, surveyed the audience and said, “I’m very happy to be here today, meeting my fellow humans. Although I haven’t gotten to speak to you in person, I can feel your good intentions. I’ve only been here for a few short days but I saw so, so much that I haven’t seen on Azura.

“That’s why I wish, I wish that everyone here will support me in bringing peace to Azura.”

“We support you!”

“Annot, you’re my angel!”

“We support Annot, we support Azura!”

Many people on Earth kept up with the events on Azura. Although they weren’t harassed by fearsome beasts, they still couldn’t lead peaceful lives because different factions were greedily snapping up resources. With the growing dissatisfaction and temptation of profits, the people became increasingly unreasonable. Azura also had other races living on it, but the twisted minds of some investors saw them as business opportunities and, just like thousands of years ago, they turned the local Azurians into slaves for sale.

The conflict over that exploded out of control. Earth strongly opposed that behavior, but was too far away to exert any control. Before Earth discovered the operation, there was already a full slave-selling system on Azura. Not even their local government could solve the problem, leading to a stalemate that had lasted more than ten years. No progress had been made.

Seven years ago, a war broke out that opened the public’s eyes to the chaos.

The fans knew that Annot was an ambassador of peace, using her voice and angelic beauty to unite a group of strong peace-lovers who ended up stopping more than ten wars from breaking out, saving tens of thousands of lives.

......

Perhaps Xiang Ning just did not know how to appreciate music. Everyone else was deeply immersed when she sang, as if they had been pulled into a dream-like state. It was silent in the crowd; he looked around the stadium and found that everyone was in a trance. He even spotted a few classmates who looked equally drunk. He was confused—was he really an idiot when it came to music?

However, the moment she started singing her new song, Xiang Ning felt like his mind had been struck by a hammer. For a moment, his world spun.

A long, quiet note entered his ears and he felt himself pulled into an infinite ocean, submerged naked in its clear, blue waters. His mind was completely cleansed and refreshed. Then he heard the sound of the wind and blinked. When he opened his eyes, he was in a forest surrounded by melodious birds. A few rays of sunlight shone through the dense forest leaves and a butterfly fluttered in between them in the tranquil silence.

He blinked again and was brought into another place.…

The notes were always calm, quiet, and long for every place he was brought to, washing away every evil thought in the depths of his mind, along with every negative emotion. He had killed countless beasts and witnessed countless deaths in Fortress Three. Had he been afraid then?

Yes, he was. He was terrified of suddenly dying and leaving his sister all alone. He was afraid that she would still be waiting for him on the road outside his house. That was why he fervently cultivated, completing the impossible.

The song was a paean from heaven and Annot was the daughter of an angel, gently caressing the human race and wiping their tears of sorrow away.

Xiang Ning’s Combat Instinct suddenly went on even higher alert and his eyes sprang open.

Mental Power: Tier four, two-star spiritual cultivator

That’s right, his Mental Power had advanced after listening to half a song. One must remember that the effort required to advance was now much higher than when he was in tier three. Ten thousand Fury Points were needed to advance a star.

“No!” Xiang Ning suddenly came to his senses. He’d lost focus!

Just as Xiang Ning, along with the crowd, was mesmerized by the song, the man next to Xiang Xiaoyu had already stood up. He looked at her, who was deeply immersed in the music, and said, “The concert’s ending soon, kid.”

Then, he slowly walked toward Annot and climbed on the stage. Not a single person stopped him.

Annot naturally saw the man, but didn’t panic.

“What the hell? What are we paying you all for? Why isn’t anyone speaking?! Shoot him, stop him!”

“Sir, we’ve lost contact with our people, there were too many enemies!”

“What?! Dammit!” The commander of the assignment slammed his fist on the console, roaring, “Get Sect Master Fang here!”

“Yes, sir!”

Three seconds later.

“Sir, Sect Master Fang is being held up by another tier seven master!”

“What?!” The officer felt his scalp go numb, as if the sky was about to fall. If anything happened to Annot, he wouldn’t be able to fix the mistake with his life. A war would most certainly break out across Azura, likely even dragging Earth into it.

“Annot, I’m sorry but we’ve run out of time. We must unite Azura. We can only wage a full-scale war upon your death. Let me take responsibility for all of this. We… really have run out of time.” The man stopped less than ten meters away from Annot, looking at the blade in his hand as he shook his head slightly. “I’m sorry.”

The blade flew out, but when it had almost touched Annot, another blade crashed into it, slamming it off course.

“Oh, you must be the young bodyguard standing next to Annot just now.”

Xiang Ning was too lazy to chat. His little sister was just off the stage!

“Charging Toss!” he softly announced, taking his iridium longsword out of his dimensional ring and hurling himself towards the man.

This was no place for combat.

But the man was not useless either.

“Interesting. Charging Toss!”

When he heard the man, Xiang Ning was stunned. This man knew Charging Toss, too!

Doge & Chacha's Thoughts

MC was way too close this time. Didn't think that Annot's songs held that much power. Maybe she used Mental Energy subconsciously?
