Chapter 283 Temper

Xiang Ning smiled helplessly even though something like this wouldn’t affect him. He had even been unfazed when his scandals were running amok in Marsh City. Still, he had to consider his sister, as well as the people around him, which made him slightly irritated. This time the scandal had been broadcast to the entire world instead of confined to Marsh City. Even though not everyone in the world knew about it, he was aware that news like this would still attract quite a crowd.

Not only would the people around him be affected, but the city that was supporting them would also be affected. Xiang Ning was a man who remembered every single kindness, so he wouldn't allow the image of his city to be tarnished! Moreover, he had already silently decided to not allow the people at the orphanage to be worried about him.

He was their role model!

“Relax, I’m not that fragile.”

Everyone saw how calm he was and instinctively knew that he was plotting something. It was fine that he wasn’t revealing it, but every single time he did so, people would always be surprised.

Wu Rui was just about to explain the timeline of the incident to the crowd before Xiang Ning hushed him. The people would have thought they were just giving excuses. Instead, Xiang Ning already knew what his next steps would be.

The lineup for today’s match had Xiang Ning’s team fighting against another team from a city bigger than theirs, though their opponents weren’t famous.

The match between Lode City and Tranquil City would be held the next day.

All of them soon arrived at the Heavenly Star Stadium, which was capable of seating sixty-thousand people. In the center of the stadium was an arena. The twenty teams would be competing there over the course of two days.

The arena was the size of a city block and there were various expansive terrain simulations in it. Every year, Heavenly Star City would host at least one large-scale event where they would invite some of the academies in Heavenly Star City and international academies to participate. One of the academies was the Heavenly Star Academy, ranked within the top hundred academies of the world. It was headed by the City Lord of Heavenly Star City himself.

Cheers and shouts were heard once they entered the stadium. Numerous merchants, travelers, and cultivators from all over China had gathered. It was the very first time a unique match like this had been conducted, so how could they not come and spectate? They wanted to know how strong the younger generation of cultivators was.

There were ten resting areas near the arena that corresponded with the participating cities.

“What a large-scale event! Is that the arena? It’s almost as big as a city block!” one of the members of Wu Rui’s team exclaimed.

“Later on they’ll divide it into different sections. You’ll be assigned to one random section by lottery. Not only will you have to fight against your competitors, but you’ll also have to maneuver the complicated terrain. You have to think faster than your competitors and exploit the terrain to your advantage in the shortest amount of time!” Mu Ronghua explained.

“That’s too hard.”

“Bastard, there’s a reason we allocated so many resources for the special class. It’s so that you can grow faster than the normal class. The tests you have to face are never ending.” Mu Ronghua flicked the forehead of the complaining student.

“That’s why I implore all of you to win. There’s another thing. Those who have won against their opponent must step down, too. While we only have a single match today, you’ll have two matches tomorrow. There won’t be enough time for you to rest, which is why we must conserve as much strength as possible today.”

All ten students nodded in agreement and cheered each other.

“Li Zimo, you’re one of the only boys in your team, so try not to put too much pressure on the girls!” Wu Rui laughed haughtily.

“Relax, their strength is on par with mine.” Li Zimo recalled Lu Shiyu’s terrifying talent for combat; it was like she was a female Xiang Ning. Even though she wasn’t as domineering as him, he still couldn’t figure out the limits of her ability.

Wu Rui had also tasted her strength and felt excited. He was also slightly envious of Xiang Ning’s team. He turned and looked at this team and felt disappointed.

“Hey! Why are you looking at us like that?!”

“Sigh.”

“Aw come on. You’re hurting our feelings.”

“Tsk. Since when did I do that?”

“Aren’t you disappointed that we don’t have a single girl in our team?”

“Well, that’s what you think. I haven’t said anything about it.”

His team was silent.

A group of reporters approached them as they were joking around. They were responsible for interviewing each team from the ten cities. One of the reporters was the same person who had interviewed Luo Lei—Ou Feng!

“Ou Feng, you should do the interview this time,” one of the senior reporters told him with a mischievous smile.

Ou Feng didn’t catch on to his intentions and got excited instead. He was worried that everyone would rob him of his chance for the interview. “Hello! We’re reporters from Sayar City—” He was just about to begin interviewing them when a fist planted itself in his face. The other reporters were already taking photos.

Before they reached the teams from Marsh City they had already anticipated that there would be a conflict. Never in their wildest imagination would they have guessed that it would be this simple and direct. While Ou Feng hadn’t revealed his face in the previous interview, his voice gave him away and they recognized him.

Xiang Ning hadn’t even done anything, but Wu Rui’s temper had caused him to act. He failed to hold back. How could a simple reporter withstand a punch from a tier four martial artist?

A single punch from Wu Rui was all it had taken to knock him out. The reporters saw that something was amiss and immediately put their cameras away as some of them called the nearest paramedics. They already had enough photos anyway. Some of them had already drafted a two-thousand-word article in their minds.

Wu Rui wanted to land a few more punches, but was held back by Xiang Ning. “There’s no need.”

Wu Rui scoffed and stopped his assault. The reporters took that as a chance to interview them. “Why’d you hit him? Was it because he fabricated a piece of fake news to tarnish your reputation?”

This time Xiang Ning didn’t avoid it and directly answered, “We are not afraid of their provocations. In fact, we don’t even care about their million dollars and tier three martial techniques.”

After that single sentence, the people from Marsh City fell silent. The reporters were still trying to pry some answers from them, but none of them answered any questions. Though they were slightly disappointed, the reporters already had enough information.

The commotion had attracted some attention from the crowd and they were wondering exactly what had happened. Even one of the committee members responsible for the match had come to the Marsh City rest area.
