Chapter 43 Jealousy

“Looks like Xiang Ning is really strong, or at the very least I wouldn’t be able to continuously execute the Mountain-Splitting Slash. He even synergized it with the Triple Slash!” Li Zimo said.

“You’re right, the recoil from using the Mountain-Splitting Slash isn’t small, either. Looks like Xiang Ning might be injured from using it,” Liu Ruoxue said as she analyzed Xiang Ning. While she was a spiritual cultivator, she still knew a lot about martial artists. As the saying goes: ‘If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.’

Xiang Ning was experiencing some problems, but his cultivation had grown.

Xiang Ning suppressed a shout as his dislocated shoulder was fixed by Mu Xiao in one swift motion. He thanked Mu Xiao, then put back the longsword and walked toward Xiang Xiaoyu.

She was already anxious and promptly stood up. The people around her started whispering, wondering if she was his girl? Then they saw something incredible as Xiang Xiaoyu jumped down from the two-meter-tall wall. Even Fatty Wang was in disbelief.

Xiang Xiaoyu immediately buried herself in Xiang Ning’s chest while he softly stroked her hair. Many of the girls present felt jealous of both of them.

“Who’s that girl? She looks like she’s only twelve or thirteen.”

“Don’t tell me Xiang Ning loves girls like that?”

“Is she the reason Zhao Huatai fought with Xiang Ning?”

“Don’t tell me this was the legendary love triangle?”

In just a moment many different rumors started spreading like a soap opera. Even Wang Zhe couldn’t bear to listen to it.

“Don’t you think she’s cute?”

“Yeah, she’s just my type.”

“Are you crazy? Do you think you can win against Xiang Ning?”

“Don’t you guys know? She’s Xiang Ning’s sister. The incident where he broke Li Minghao’s nose in the cafeteria was because he heard that Li Minghao was talking badly about her. I bet this fight was because Zhao Huatai took a liking to her.…”

When someone said that, everyone was shocked, but someone was feeling relieved.

Xiang Ning ignored everyone and walked out of the martial arena.

Zhao Huatai was sweating bullets as he lay there. Zhang Jiasheng kneeled down and lightly touched his injury, which caused him tremendous pain.

Fatty Wang looked at Zhao Huatai and was filled with concern for his friend. Xiang Ning was only a part-time student, after all; he might feel good right now, but if Zhao Huatai’s family were to come and seek revenge it would end badly. He feared that Zhao Huatai would want to completely destroy Xiang Ning.

Xiang Ning led Xiaoyu to Mingzhe Lake and sat down beneath a big tree. The days were still hot during September, so he bought her an ice cream, the kind he wouldn’t have bought before at five dollars per stick.

 She enjoyed her ice cream, and wanted him to try some, too.

“Ahem. I hope I’m not interrupting anything.” Fang Rou walked out from a small path and saw how sweet the two of them were. If she didn’t know that Xiang Xiaoyu was his sister, she would have been very jealous.

Xiang Xiaoyu was confused for a moment, then realized what she meant and blushed. 

Xiang Ning just laughed and introduced Fang Rou, “Xiaoyu, this is my friend, Fang Rou. She’s a good person.”

Fang Rou’s smile twitched. Yeah... a good person.

Xiang Xiaoyu stood up and smiled. “Sister Fang Rou, I’m Xiang Xiaoyu. I’m thirteen this year, studying in the lower secondary section.”

Fang Rou sweetly replied, “Nice to meet you. Xiang Ning mentions you a lot in his conversations.”

“Really? What’d he say?”

Xiang Ning was mortified. Girls are indeed scary. They hadn’t met for thirty seconds and they were already talking like long-lost siblings. He shook his head; it wasn’t like Fang Rou would snatch his sister away from him. He sat by the banks of the lake, staring at the waves as he was deep in thought.

Many things had happened since he’d enrolled, and it was even more interesting than whatever he had experienced growing up. What was once a very faraway dream had been achieved in just a short ten days. 

“Brother, what’s on your mind?” Xiang Xiaoyu appeared beside him.

“Just thinking about how to make everyone afraid of me,” he seriously replied.

“What’re you talking about? It’s just a Zhao Huayu.”

Noon arrived, and Xiang Ning and Fang Rou walked to the training grounds. Lei Zhongyuan was already standing on a podium staring down at them. When everyone had arrived, he finally said, “Today is a teamwork exercise. Separate into groups of five. It’s best if you find people that you can work with, because your choice will affect your future operations.”

After hearing his instructions, everyone hurried to find a group.

Li Zimo and Liu Ruoxue stood in front of Xiang Ning. “We already agreed to work together. I hope you won’t go back on your words.”

Xiang Ning laughed, “How could I? I should be grateful for you choosing me instead.”

“Stop joking, hahaha,” Li Zimo laughed. Common courtesy was still needed here.

“We still need another person, do you have anyone in mind?”

“Just one.” He smiled. and led the two to Fang Rou, who was surrounded by people.

“Want to join us?” Xiang Ning said, interrupting everyone else. Fang Rou nodded and stood by him.

The people who were trying to get Fang Rou to join their team were depressed. They had painstakingly tried to persuade her, but lost to Xiang Ning, who only needed four words.

He gave the choosing rights for the final person to Li Zimo.

Everyone’s team was finally assembled after ten minutes. Except for Zhao Huatai, who was absent, everyone had a team. In reality, most of the groups were selected without reason. They only bothered to ask about strength, martial techniques, and battle experience. Of course, everyone saw that there was an empty slot in Xiang Ning’s group and wanted to join, but they were rejected.
