A successful landing from the altitude of seven hundred meters is difficult, but not impossible.

If it is a superhuman type spell such as of telekinetic power, or even a magician type spell as Reche showed us, they will be able to make it as well, by bringing down the rate of falling with the magic spell of the wind or so.

“I think it’s still too early. If you compare this situation to that of the card game, for example, poker—“

“Is it like when you distribute cards to the participating people?”

“It is the moment one enters the hall of the match itself.”

“Doesn’t that mean that the game hasn’t even begun in the first place!?”

-Chapter 32-

Challenging the God of Infinite.

Playground of the Gods

“Maybe that’s the point in itself. If it were about the other Gods, there’s a lot of information present in the database of Mystic court as well, but, Ouroboros is riddled with mysteries from the very start to end. So, For the start, I will exchange information.”

“Huh? with whom?”

“From them, over there.”

Fei pointed towards the faces of the team “Light of the Flame Blossom” who landed behind at a distance of about a hundred meters to them. Some people were crouched due to getting injuries during their descent.

“To the members of “The Light of the Blazing Fire”!? Eh? Eh? Bu… But we are in no position to do that in… any……”

“I will be going up front, so it will be alright.”

“I and Fei would be the only ones talking so no worries.”

Fei at the front. Followed was Reche, and then Pearl – who was walking timidly in fear. Proceeding forwards, on top of this giant glistening scales.

“Excuse me, may I have your attention. Thank you. I am Fei. Following me, she is Reche.”

“…………”

There was astonishment, as they glanced around.

The former colleagues of the apostle Pearl looked at her. They didn’t look hostile. But their sight was clearly not that of someone which can be mistaken for friendly.

“Since I was not even able to give my greetings earlier. But well, since we are going to be working together on this, let’s give it our all.”

“It’s that last year’s newcomer Fei Theophilus and that Dragon God Leo Reche sama. They’re the hot topic in the entire branch right now. From our point of view, co-operation with you is something we couldn’t ever dream of declining.”

Facing towards his back, in front of those dozens of subordinates before him—

The man of the rank of a captain with his back still turned towards his subordinates, with a side look from his face.

Let out a solemn sigh.

“……It’s been a while hasn’t it?”

“I’m very sorry!!!!!!”

“Now, now. She has her own role to play. We invited her, so please be easy on her.”

Taking the place of Pearl, who hid behind Reche. Fei waved his hand in front of him.

…… Oh, so by captain, you meant this guy?

…… So he was the person who got lumped together with Pearl when she activated the phase exchange and as a result of which, he was trampled flat by the God.

However, the surprise for Fei was that the captain himself remained to the extent of having a bitter face, compared to his subordinates who did not even try hiding their displeasure.

…… Maybe the captain himself has more or less accepted the fact that what  was done is done.

…So, it was actually the subordinates who were unable to forgive Pearl yet eh?

She seems to be hated even now.

That day must have had quite a fiery atmosphere without a doubt.

“Excuse me. uh, Captain Ovan?”

“It’s Ovan Misketz. The fourth captain of the team “Light of the Flame Blossom”. This will be my third year.”

His age would perhaps be somewhere around 30 yrs.

He has chiseled facial features accompanied with a severe-strict look. Perhaps, amongst the apostles who range from their twenties to their thirties, it can be said that he is a veteran who is the oldest and most experienced here among them.

Such a captain, and the subordinates surrounding him.

And—-

Their total numbers don’t match up…?

There should have been nineteen people apart from the captain participating from “Light of the Flame Blossom”. But, even after taking the captain into account, their numbers don’t seem to exceed even fifteen.

“Our Four people have been eliminated”

Before Fei could proceed in asking about them, the captain sighed and replied.

“Free fall from an altitude of seven hundred meters. There were only five apostles who could withstand that, including me. With those five at hand, saving fifteen was our limit.…… As a result, three people were dropped out and returned to the real world, being unable to withstand the crash.”

“That’s three of you, who’s the other one?”

“──── It’s them.”

What Ovan pointed towards was the very sea of clouds below them. As we stared at the clouds, something appeared out of the blue hiding in between the clouds, for a moment.

It had a silvery skin which seemed to melt into the color of this sea of clouds.

It looked like a snake, but its body also had small limbs that seemed to have degenerated.

“What is that flying whale!?”

Pearl’s voice trailed off.

A pure white whale swimming in the sky.

The tail and pectoral fins are as big as airplanes, and they were swimming in the sky with ease.

The God was not the only one swimming on this sea of clouds. There were hundreds of these giant monsters following God and its orders around.

“In the Mystic Court, we call them the Sky Whales. They’re small compared to this God, but they’re more than ten meters long, so they’re monstrous enough. They wait for an apostle to fall off the back of a God.”

“So that means… don’t tell me. ……”

The moment their prey falls, they transform from whales into ferocious piranhas. Even if one of them fell out of position rather actually fell into the sea of clouds, and …… well we can guess the rest.

The captain shook his head feebly.

“Thus our 4 members have been eliminated. The rest remaining are the fifteen of us here. Anything else?”

“…… No, it’s okay.”

The expressions reflected by the members of the “Light of the Flame Blossom” were so dark that even Fei’s decided to resist from asking any more about it.

They were close to losing their will to participate in war.

“……It’s impossible. We’re up against “that” Ouroboros.”

The man of the subordinate muttered.

After surviving the trial of falling from an altitude of several hundred meters, and with a voice which doesn’t have any enthusiasm of being able to or qualified to play the real game, in such a scornful voice.

“It’s the worst. Out of all things, this…”
