I Became A System

Chapter 146 - The Fight

Everyone looked at Ellena with shock. Apparently, they just witnessed an attack with two elements of magic. It is not uncommon to see since basic magic lets you have a small grasp of the basic elements, which are fire, water, earth, and air.

However, what they witnessed was an offensive magic attack, which can be used only if you have an ability pertaining to that element.

As there were also mages who were watching the fight, they couldn't help but admire Ellena. She had a high-ranking rune on their points of view.

In the magic society, there are people who weigh your ability. If you can use one element with only one ability, you are considered average. However, if you can use more than one, and also have two separate abilities for those elements, you are considered a genius.

However, there are still some who skyrocket their fame. If a person can use two elements with just one ability, they are more regarded as it is rare to have an ability that allows them to grasp more than one element.

Some are also called...

"Omni mage!"

They called Ellena an Omni Mage as she didn't only use two elements, but also three: light element.

Ellena activated her Binding Light to limit Verxal's movement and in the eyes of the people, that was light magic.

Ellena couldn't hear the exact words of the cheers, but she could hear Verxal's clearly. Verxal is currently looking at Ellena with an amazed expression as if it was his first time seeing a person who can use three elements of magic.

Well, in mage rune owners' society, there is a rarity of abilities. If you can manipulate any element with an ability that allows you to possess a talent in any element, you can be called a rare mage rune owner. As well, you can be an Omni mage.

"You didn't inform me that you can manipulate three elements," Verxal said, as he couldn't contain himself anymore.

Ellena just shook her head. "No. Because it's a trade secret. Can we just fight without stopping? It's spoiling, you know."

Verxal just scoffed and removed himself from the binding. Then, he dashed toward Ellena to attack, but the heat blocked him from the fire that sprouted from below.

And as they saw it, within just a time frame of minutes, everyone was surprised once again. Ellena, apparently, is proficient with her ability. And considering it's a high-ranking rune, everyone expects her to use more magic than swordsmanship.

But of course, there are people who consider that Ellena was also conserving her stamina because no mage can keep up in a close-range fight. That's what they think.

However, in reality, Ellena isn't a mage. Nor a swordswoman. Rather, she is only adaptable to any style that will benefit her.

The fight continued, but right now, Verxal was pushing Ellena. He seems to see the openings that Ellena carelessly created. And using it to his advantage, Ellena was having a hard time.

Verxal doesn't have any special abilities to enhance his body and movements. Everything that he did was all from his eyes' benefits.

However, despite the shortcomings of Verxal, Ellena was still having trouble breaking through Verxal's tight defense.

"This is going to be more difficult than I expected," Ellena grumbled as she got to her knees on the ground.

A mighty slash is coming. Therefore, Ellena slides to her right and uses the momentum to stand up. Verxal, who made that move, just grinned and continued to grind Ellena's opening.

One after one, Ellena couldn't escape Verxal's eyes. Everything she makes, Verxal can easily reply to it.

And from one attack that slipped through her defense, she rolled backward.

Aaron was surprised at it. Of course, he was worried about her, but he knew it was a must. Ellena must face more troubling foes in the future, so she also needs to practice it right now while she isn't in a tight position.

Ellena put her feet on the ground and moved her body towards Verxal. She passed through the blade and jumped every time she felt that Verxal was going to swipe her stance. And just as she wanted to defeat Verxal, she used another ability she had.

[Pressure Aura]

Verxal was surprised. It appeared that Ellena's ability was affecting his sight. He also had some delays in his readings. Even predicting Ellena's next movement, he was having a hard time.

The audience, who could see Ellena had the advantage, exploded in cheers. Of course, there are now fans of Ellena that were formed from the fight.

Ellena made a feint to thrust her sword toward Verxal, and with Verxal reacting to it, she dashed below and to the left of Verxal. Since he dodged the supposed attack by swaying his back backward, Ellena took that chance of opening.

And just like that, Ellena had a successful hit.

She didn't need to touch or get near Verxal. She has her lightning that can travel quickly. And for the first time, she made a clean hit on Verxal.

"What did you do?" Verxal asked out of confusion.

Earlier, he was controlling the tide of the fight; now he was being pushed back. What was happening?

Ellena just smiled and shook his head. She also shrugged slightly and said, "Trade secret."

And just like that, there were no special cards Verxal could use. His ability was getting worse as the fight continued. But Ellena knows that this is limited, so she needs to finish it quickly. But even though she had a slight advantage, she still couldn't finish the fight.

Exchanges of blades and attacks continued. Ellena was at the top, but Verxal wouldn't surrender. Even though his ability to see the flexibility of every attack was weakened for an unknown reason, he still strived to fight Ellena.

Ellena felt the fight should end at her mark. She also felt her stamina depleting.

She used Binding Light and Lightning to numb Verxal's body. But Verxal was quite slippery, so even in microseconds, he could dodge Ellena's launched attacks.

Despite the weakness, Verxal can still hold on. In fact, slowly by slowly, his sight was getting better. It was a disadvantage on Ellena's side.

She cursed and finally used another means of inflicting damage on Verxal.

It hit. The lightning that hit him was weakened. However, since she couldn't create another lightning bolt with enough energy to numb Verxal's body, it was like a mere shock in the elbow.

Being tired, Ellena gasped and panted for air.

"This... I'm done."

She made her final attack. She gathered all her strength for that attack. She pushed Verxal to the limit and used her remaining stamina for her lightning.

It's now or never. She doesn't need to win after all.

"GAAAAHHHH!!!"

Boom!

A mightful lightning bolt, just the size of a human body, launched from Ellena's body.

All of them were surprised and in between their breathing, they gasped.

Now... for the final verdict. Who won?

But it turns out that no one won the fight. In fact, Verxal was lying on the floor next to Ellena after making that huge lightning strike.

The fight ended in a draw.
