I Became A System

Chapter 154 - Mutated Broaxen

"Can I ask more about this person?"

The village chief shook his head.

"I prefer not to tell you more about the one who gave this to us."

"I see. I respect your words."

Ellena left the hut and went to the east, where the monster was supposed to have last been seen.

It's understandable that the village chief won't tell more about him. Perhaps he threatened or was kind to them, stating that he couldn't risk jeopardizing the person's identity.

The information about the orb was just a peek, perhaps. Maybe also because he had some talent for assessing people. That's why he let Ellena know about it.

There was no particular or significant information that told more about the monster. Maybe just the pregnant part, but not literally helpful to defeat it.

Monsters like this are more aggressive when they are pregnant and based on what the chief said, he was worried.

Well, technically he didn't say that he was worried. But the orb he was holding was enough to protect them, so why would he ask for subjugation?

Maybe... the orb has limitations, and since broaxen's children grow faster, especially when they are mutated, he worries about the village's safety.

The limitation of the orb might affect their security. And that was enough for him to ask for subjugation.

It's not trickery or something to be embarrassed about. He was just being thoughtful and they are basically the lowest of the power system.

Commoners have lower and weaker abilities. Because it's bloodline affiliated, commoners have a lower potential to use their ability in major situations.

We went into the woods. And as we got deeper, we felt the strong presence of an entity.

This was the Mutated Broaxen's presence...

Ellena looked at me with a worried look and I nodded. I think I know what she's worried about.

I flew and scouted the area and saw a dark aura. An aura like a mist covering a bear.

It's not a bear, but broaxen.

It's also huge as heck. It is about 8 feet tall and the width is somewhat near 2 meters. It has gigantic arms and fangs that are covered in dark colors.

Its fur was also dark with a slight touch of brown and red crimson eyes.

I could only shake my head. I am feeling agitated about this. Can Ellena defeat this monster? It's like the Giant Evergreen Ape but just lesser in size.

If I assume the rank, it may be at the lowest end of A-rank. It is also a rank where Ellena could take care of it by herself, but still, the fight would be close.

If Ellena executes the fight to her advantage, she can defeat this monster with only 75% of her stamina. But if there were variables that would hinder her, the fight would be tight and close.

I went back to Ellena and reported everything I saw. I also gave her the worries and warnings I thought about.

And as she listened to it, she caressed my head.

"Don't worry. We got this. And also, I am stronger right now."

I sighed as I saw her determined eyes.

Wait! This is a monster, right?! Then... I can gift Ellena a technique for killing a monster.

A Monster Slaying Technique!

"Ellena! Wait for a second. I will bless you with a monster-slaying technique."

After I said it, her eyebrows rose.

"What's that?"

"It's a technique I got from the Murphey family."

Then, before I could continue, she gasped.

"You stole a technique?"

"It's really what I do, you know. You still didn't notice it?"

"Oh... Right. My bad."

The both of us just giggled at our ridiculous words. Then, afterward, I proceeded with the gifting.

I opened the window and picked a monster-slaying technique.

[Monster Slaying Technique list:

Blazing Form, Unwanted Thrust, Streaming Strike, Ignite Stature, Memory of Kick, Hate for Fiends

Fighting Technique list:

Overbearing Swordplay, Swift Clash

Gun Production Technique list:

Glock 19

Target: ???]

---

This... I think Streaming Strike would be better since the monster is big. And with it, she can make a fluid attack that can change the size to her advantage.

I targeted Ellena and just after it, a small light covered her with the technique of implanting into her brain.

After getting the technique, Ellena smiled.

"This is amazing, you know," she said as she continued browsing the technique.

"I know right. Because I picked it." Then I chuckled. Ellena's quite enthusiastic, huh.

"Then... let's go?"

I nodded and we continued going deeper into the forest.

I feel a little agitated, still agitated, to be precise. I don't doubt Ellena's ability, but the circumstances are still what worries me.

Nevertheless, I will continue to cheer for Ellena.

Now that the technique had been applied to Ellena, she'll manage it, right? Hopefully.

Then we reached where the monster was.

"Woah... It's massive." Ellena mumbled.

"Yup. So don't underestimate it." I warned her.

She just nodded with a smile, and as she had followed my warnings earlier, she cast the Binding Light and shackled the legs to the nearby tree.

The back left leg of the mutated broaxen was caught in a tree nearby. It was the first plan: limiting the monster's movement.

As soon as it noticed Ellena, it growled violently, which could deafen anyone who heard it.

Ellena covered her ears then moved backward to prepare for another attack.

She gathered some lightning and launched it towards the monster.

It hit. It worked perfectly, but it didn't do much, as I think it has a strong constitution against paralyzing attacks.

This will be a problem.

Ellena looked at the eyes and knew just what almost every entity's weakness was. She targeted the eyes.

Zap!

The lightning hit, but unfortunately, this kind of monster is rather smart. She covered her eyes with her fangs. Almost as if she caught it.

What a problem it is.

Ellena hissed and dashed towards a blind spot. The bind was still on the monster, but after a few seconds, her strength overwhelmed the roots of the tree, plucking it from the ground.

When it finally didn't hinder her movements, she grumbled at the tree by clenching her fangs against the trunk.

The tree immediately gave in and turned into pieces.

On no... This is quite a problem.

Ellena cast another Binding Light but it turned out that the monster was really smart. She just overwhelmed it before it could even shackle her.

What a troublesome being.

"Grah!" It was Ellena, but it was as if it was coming from the monster as she produced strong and tremendous lightning from her palms.

Ellena was maximizing the energy she had to the attack and launched it.

Boom!

The lightning hit the monster and as well as the nearby surround. Still, hidden from afar, Ellena looked out and observed what happened to the monster.

Dust covered the area as the ground became dry from the lightning. The trees were almost burnt but no fire emerged, surprisingly.

When the dust started to disperse, it revealed a weakened mutated broaxen.

I bet that she has some resistance to a paralyzing attack but what if a mega-paralyzing attack?

My word choice is laughable but if she was hit by a huge source of electricity that could magnetize any iron, she'll surely weaken even she has some resistance.

Well, resistance doesn't mean that she'll never be vulnerable. It merely requires some strong power that could overwhelm the resistance point.

"Grahhh..."

Oh shit, the monster is starting to get back on its feet!
