I Became A System

Chapter 197 - Core Building

The second day at the base of the Secret Magic Society was still silent for us. I don't have much motivation to go out and search for sources. I am still bothered by what I heard yesterday.

Ellena was hiding something from me, and I couldn't bring myself to ask her about it. It felt like she was intentionally hiding it without any malice...

Ellena was caring for me since she didn't want me to die. But those words still can't be removed from my brain. What was it? And why is it?

I think that Ellena knows more than I do.

It's killing me. But I can't really ask her. I am also scared to die if I'll even die. It's just, I can't take the risk!

I still need to watch over Ellena, and if I waste that, I'll probably be disappointed. Even though it is about me having a physical body, I am not that obsessed.

Everything I wanted was for Ellena to be safe and fulfill her destiny on the safest path. I've already accepted that she can't escape it, but at least I still want to be with her.

Now... I am... aimless...

"Aaron, why are you silent? You've been like that since yesterday."

I flinched after that sudden question that Ellena asked. She wasn't wearing her mask and also just comfortably sitting on the couch in the living room.

"Nothing..." I said without prolonging the conversation. I don't feel right, right now.

"Are you sure?" she asked, as if doubtful that there was more behind my words.

"Yeah. I will be going. I'll search for learning materials."

Ellena just looked at me with a worried look, then bitterly smiled.

"Sure."

And before I could leave, someone appeared before our 'house'.

I think it was the instructor. She was a woman who was at least in her mid-twenties. Also, she has black hair.

Ellena opened the door. I had just seen the instructor since I passed through the window, but Ellena was still clueless about the presence of the instructor.

"Yes?"

"I am the personal instructor that manager Polan asked to teach you." Then she bowed slightly, greeting Ellena.

"Yes. Thank you. I am Noelle."

2 weeks later.

"Nice! That's it, Miss Noelle! You are really a talented person!" A compliment was made by Ellena's personal instructor, Leonora.

Ellena gasped heavily as she was sitting in a meditative posture.

For the whole two weeks, Ellena practiced how to gather and condense gathered mana. With the help of a magic circle that is drawn in a formation that can gather mana, Ellena successfully made her core.

Aaron from above was just smiling, proud of Ellena that she had unlocked another milestone in her life. It was as if a breakthrough of Ellena's power. With this, it shouldn't take much stamina since Ellena had control over her affinities.

"You were just too good, Miss Leonora." Ellena smiled as she said it, humbly responding to her.

"No... You are just too talented. It took me months to build up my core, but you just did it in two weeks. From what I've witnessed living here, you achieved an undeniable feat." Leonora said.

Ellena was indeed talented. Building a core doesn't actually depend on formation, teaching, and other outside variables. Even with the slightest mana present, a person with talent can still build their own core if they can feel mana as if it is an extension of their body.

"Thank you, if you say so." Then a chuckle came after it.

"So, take a rest. You are good for today." Leonora said.

Ellena shook her head. "I can still go. I want to fully immerse myself in my core."

With what Ellena said, Leonora could only be surprised at how dedicated Ellena was. Even though she doesn't know her background, Leonora can still feel the aura that Ellena had.

"Okay. But I will be going now. And... don't overwork yourself. You'll get mana sick if you overdo it."

Ellena nodded at Leonora's warning. A few seconds later, she left the house.

Ellena continued doing what she had concentrated on earlier. She was gathering the mana that came to her with the help of the formation below her. And as it gets around her, she just controls it to calmly approach her core.

And it had been days since she was doing it. Ellena had been used to it. Even though there was a little pressure from doing it, she got to learn the techniques for how to do it.

But even though she can use her talent, she can't be compared to Cules, who managed to learn magic in a short time. Of course, it has help from Aaron, but Cules's talents can't be ignored because it was as if Cules's purpose was to be born.

Within a short distance, Aaron was also meditating. However, his concentration wasn't like what Ellena was doing. He was trying to search for a connection to his soul.

Within his mind, he can only see darkness, but as he continues to be immersed in meditating, blue lights start appearing.

'Here we are again. Even though they appear, I still can't reach one.'

There were plenty of blue lights appearing. All of them are in the form of a ball, but even though it was like that, Aaron still seemed unable to reach one of them.

He continued concentrating, trying to move a little bit of his body. But even with his might, he still can't move.

'Let's see... I feel like I have an idea of how to move.'

Being tired of doing it again and again, Aaron thought of doing something.

'If I can't move horizontally, I'll move vertically.'

It was only an idea made on a whim. However, Aaron was actually able to move.

And discovering it gave him a wild idea that would risk everything.

He jumped and jumped. He didn't think that he'd get away from the blue light because if this is his soul, he'd return to one place. He'll never get lost in his own soul.

He continued doing it. Even though there was no foothold, he was able to do it.

It became months, the equivalent of months in his perspective, and just when he was about to stop it for a while, above him, a blue light appeared.

'Holy... That's my goal!'

He jumped endlessly, and when he was about to reach it, he was drowned by blue light, as if it had reached him on its own.
