And finally, when the king was about to turn his head toward his father.
[“The Princess has arrived!”]
A loud shout from the entrance echoed through the high ceiling.
Soon, the king’s gaze turned towards the sound.
Elisha looked back at his father.
He was still glaring at the king with sharp eyes.
Fortunately, the attendants who were with him grabbed him and forced him to droop himself on the floor.
They were sorry for the rough way, but it’s better than losing his life.
[“. . . Father.”]
Elisha couldn’t help but watch his father despair.
Now he didn’t have the courage to even hold his father’s trembling hand.
[“I have something to tell you.”]
At that moment, the young princess’s youthful voice was heard.
Elisha wanted to see the face of the cheeky girl who always takes his mother away from, but with his head bowed, it was impossible.
He wanted to lift his head up and looked at her secretly, but she was still nowhere to be seen.
The little Princess was buried amongst the grown-ups, and he couldn’t even see a strand of her hair.
But he could clearly see his mother standing behind her.
Mother . . .
When his mother had seen Elisha, she glanced back at him and smiled slightly.
He didn’t know how she can smile in a situation like this.
[“Are you going to say something weird again?”]
In fact, a few days before this happened.
Princess Rieta once said, ‘That’s Father’s only strength’ about the king’s lack of ability to make heirs.
The King of Liz was still hating Rieta for that.
Naturally, there was a sense of hostility in the way he looked at his daughter.
[“Well, that’s.”]
Was she frightened? The Princess murmured for a moment.
[“There is . . .”]
Elisha is unaware of Rieta’s circumstances, so he was disappointed that he did not feel ‘princess’ authority’ in her tone.
It seems that she didn’t even learn proper etiquette.
Even the children of the vassal families don’t talk like that.
[“I heard that you are going to hang new portraits here.”]
[“Do you want me to hang your portrait too? Put aside your unreasonable stubbornness. Why would I draw a picture of a face that I don’t like looking at? You do look pretty, though.”]
[“Ah, I wouldn’t like my father seeing my face either. But, father!”]
But at the end of the stupid conversation.
When Rieta calls the king ‘Father.’
Her voice was somehow . . .
It had sharply pierced through Elisha’s heart.
[“Please allow me to take the people here.”]
Her request was heard from a rather low place.
Perhaps the princess knelt, or bowed her body.
The king did not answer for a while.
Not only that, but the attendants and other servants, who were lightly joking around, all kept silent.
After a tense moment passed, finally the King opened his mouth.
[“Why would you taking these servants . . .?”]
The King of Liz looked around at those who had knelt before them and asked with a puzzled look.
He probably didn’t even realize that Rieta’s ‘people here’ meant ‘portraits’.
For the King, the portraits were nothing more than ‘things’ that are useless and occupying space.
[“I mean, I want to keep all of these portraits in my palace. Right now, everything.”]
Rietta emphasized the words ‘right now, everything.’
That’s probably what her father wanted the most.
[“. . .Do you give me permission?”]
[“I don’t care. That would be much faster than the servants taking them one by one.”]
The king seemed to be very pleased with Rieta’s proposal.
He started laughing out loud.
[“Your palace will become full of the dead old people!”]
* * *
The palace that Princess Rieta resided within was not that big.
However, there were not many things piled up, and, to be honest, the place was empty enough to say it was closer to being in need, so they were able to hang a number of portraits neatly.
“I’m sorry. I decided to do as I wished.”
After moving all the portraits, the Princess bowed her head slightly to the attendants who had helped her.
She clasped her hands in embarrassment.
“It’s not a nice place, but I’ll talk to them every day and say hello. And again, if you want to see it, you can come at any time . . .”
The little Princess was embarrassed to speak in front of so many people, so her words were slightly trailing off and she blushed.
“Princess.”
Then, one of the attendants asked her.
“Why did you bring all the portraits? Why did you think that?”
“Yes . . .”
Rieta looked up at the attendant, who was taking care of her.
It was Elisha’s mother.
As she nodded her head, Rieta murmured an answer.
“I heard a story from the Maureen family. The portraits are in danger of returning to each family. But if that happens, everyone will be upset . . . Then I will be upset too . . .”
“Thank you for understanding our hearts.”
