A smooth crystal with a perfectly geometrical shape, with a deep mesmerising black that seemed to suck in all the colour around it

Dante didn't hesitate and moved deeper into the creature's chest, pulling the Crystal away from the grip of the countless deformed corpses

"Arghhh!!"

As soon as Dante pulled out the crystal, the surrounding zombies seemed to go crazy.

Dante could hear the ear piercing screams of countless zombies, all crying out at the same time

Fortunately for Dante, these screams didn't last very long as soon all the corpses began to shrivel up until all that was left of their bodies was a dry, emaciated husk .

Seeing this sight, Dante let out a sigh.

It was defeated! The Mumbling Terror was finally defeated!

On the other side of the battlefield, as Dante defeated his opponent, Rebecca also seemed to be wrapping up her fight.

As she was flying in the air, her movements suddenly became erratic and illusory. The strange thing was that even with this strange process of moving, Rebecca's actions still never lost their element of grace.

Rebecca continued darting around the sky with these erratic movements, and as she did so, the flames that wrapped her body darkened as a grim, fiendish aura started radiating from deep within the flames.

It was then Dante recognised the move Rebecca was using .

The Dance of abyssal fire!

It was the same move his dad had taught her a while back, and from the looks of things, it seemed like she managed to break through in its cultivation.

Although it was nowhere near the full strength of this technique, it was still enough to deal with the zombies in front of Rebecca.

Now wrapped in abyssal flames, Rebecca's spear was like a furious dragon, rushing through the air and obliterating anything in this path!

The swimming Dragon array flared up once again, but the results were different this time.

Rebecca's new abyssal flames, combined with Dante's domain of fire, were just too much for the formation to handle

The flames smashed past the protection of the dark dragon phantoms, instantly devouring the zombies and burning them into nothing but ash!

All that was left of them was their old identification tokens given by the Hidden Dragon Academy that could be seen falling through the sky.

It was only after seeing Rebecca clear out the remaining zombies that Dante finally relaxed

Scanning around, Dante made one last check to see if anything was amiss, but it really looked like the Corpse Master had retreated for good this time.

The usual taunting laughter and jokes from the Corpse Master usually gave as he left couldn't be heard.

Whatever Dante had done today had gotten to him in a way he could never have expected.

Dante knew that the creatures the Corpse Master brought out today weren't his usual cannon fodder, they were top tier monsters that he must have spent weeks or possibly even months creating! So losing them all at once would have definitely caused him some pain.

Even someone as crazy as the corpse master couldn't simply brush off such losses.

As Dante was thinking this, he couldn't help hit look towards the Crystal in his hand.

This could be said to be Dante's biggest haul from this whole mission so far.

He could feel a strong concentration of death and tin energy overflowing from the Crystal.

Dante could feel an agitation deep within his soul as if something was crying out for him to devour the Crystal in front of him and Dante instantly knew what it was.

His next dragon soul.

But unfortunately for Dante, this was neither the time nor place to be obsessing over treasures so with much effort , Dante managed to put away the Death Crystal into his space pouch.

After taking care of the Strange Crystal, Dante turned to look at the villagers battlefield.

Over here Clay had done an excellent job and with the help of the village militia, completely massacred all the zombies that were surrounding them

As Dante floated down from the sky, he could see the crowd of villagers turn to look at him.

Suddenly, Clay moved through the crowd towards him and handed him a glowing short sword.

"Lord Dragon Son, thank you."

These words were simple but able to contain the heartfelt gratitude of Clay.

Dante just smiled as he accepted the sword.

"That power. Did you like it?"

As soon as Clay heard Dante's question, his body froze.

Clay knew from the very start the voice who spoke to him and the person who gave him the sword was Dante.

During the battle, Clay hadn't had time to think too deeply about things and could only focus on getting his revenge against the zombies.

But now that the fight was over and he had to give in the sword, Clay could help but feel a sense of sadness.

The strength to fight.

The strength to take his revenge, It was all gone now!

Seeing the boy's  reaction,  Dante Just smiled.

What was the quote again?

You can't miss what you never had.

Dante knew that Clay's determination and thirst for power were impressive.

Seeing your home destroyed and watching your best friend abducted can do those kinds of things to people. But even with that, Dante could sense that he was still missing something, just that light push that would drive him over the edge.

A small taste of power.

Just a slight preview of what he could have in the future.

It was all good and well seeing the true power could achieve by watching Dante's fights, but seeing and experiencing were two different things.

Now that Clay had had a taste of that power, there was truly no going back.

He had crossed a line.

So for better or for worse, Dante had pushed the boy on a path of struggle for power that he may never be able to truly recover from…
