The finger holding Sohee’s chin dropped and Deon grabbed her shoulder.

“You won’t see me for a while but I’ll be back soon. When I come back, let me stay with you.”

Sohee’s eyebrows raised at that.

It finally became clear to her why Joshua hadn’t killed Deon.

She didn’t know where he would go but seeing that Hugh was sent to the battlefield, she had an idea where even if she didn’t hear of it.

Certainly, Deon would go to a place that wasn’t easy to survive.

“Where the hell are you going?” Sohee asked but he didn’t answer.

Deon just wanted her to promise something.

“Don’t abandon me, Ariad. Promise me.”

The grip on her shoulder became even more forceful.

As Deon’s grey eyes shook along with her heart, he appeared like he would swallow her at any moment.

Then, a brief murmur was heard outside the door.

If someone clutched and twisted the doorknob, the scene appearing before their eyes would probably shock them.

The strange position, that Deon and Sohee were currently in, might set the rumor about her——having an affair with another man other than the crown prince——-ablaze.

Oh.

Of course,  Deon’s existence in her bedroom was a problem itself.

Eventually, So-hee nodded with a sigh.

“Yes, I won’t.” She forced herself to answer.

This man could be persistent and stubborn if he wanted to and he would probably stay here for hours if she didn’t promise him anything.

She shouldn’t forget that she was the one who made Deon’s character as obsessive.

Fortunately, Deon rose from the bed when he finally heard the answer he desired.

Then, he bent down and kissed her lightly on the forehead.

She didn’t expect it so the physical contact was inevitable.

As Deon stretched his back, the corner of his eyes crinkled when he smiled.

Sohee found it strange that the fierce man a while ago could look this innocent and pure.

“Goodbye, Ari.”

With that simple greeting, he disappeared out of the window.

As she peered at the window where he had vanished, So-hee got lost in her own thoughts for a moment.

The novel’s plot got seriously twisted thanks to Sohee’s impersonation of Ariad.

And now, Joshua, who should have loved Kelly in the novel, wanted her.

For this reason,  Kelly had attempted to kill Ariad, who should have died at Joshua’s hands, while the Queen’s heart burned with anger as  her daughter-in-law held on to the crown princess’ spot.

What else had changed?

While countless things that weren’t supposed to happen already occurred,  she found it strange that something… or someone was still consistent.

It was the obsessive second lead who remained faithful to Ariad.

Deon was the only character that remained unchanged from the beginning to the current.

“That’s so weird.”

Sohee touched the little spot on her forehead that Deon had kissed.

If one had a long tail, that person would easily get caught especially if he was in the crown prince’s palace.

“It’s Charles. The only child of the Endro family.” Macon told Joshua.

Joshua scanned the man—-whose hands were tied behind the bars in the distance——from head to toe.

Moving quickly after hearing So-hee’s complaint,  Joshua eventually caught the bastard because the stupid pervert didn’t leave the Crown Prince’s Palace even after committing such a bold act.

When his sharp gaze glanced down at his tied hands, he found a woman’s underwear tightly clutched in his right hand.

It was obvious whom it belonged to.

Charles and Joshua’s eyes met just in time.

Even if the distance between them was far, the hostility was evident in their face.

“She and I were promised to be married! I have done nothing wrong!” His loud voice roared through the household.

As Macon looked at Joshua staring at the madman, he swallowed his saliva and recited the rest of the information.

“He is mentally ill, Your Highness.”

Even if he had whispered those words, the lunatic seemed to have a good hearing because he affirmed it himself. “Yes. I’m out of my mind!”

Macon’s eyes fell shut before he opened them again.

He noticed the subtle change in his master’s mood.

The atmosphere felt so eerie and cold as if they were surrounded by a thousand ghosts.

“It’s better that you don’t talk to him, Your Highness. I will take care of it myself.”

Unfortunately, Macon’s calm voice failed to soothe Joshua because he was busy contemplating something else.

Joshua recalled the painting that the man created.

The naked painting was so detailed that he couldn’t have drawn it unless he saw Ariad’s body in person especially the location of her moles.

Joshua moved his feet and soon, he arrived in front of the prison where Charles Endro was trapped.

“They must have promised to get married to each other while they were f*cking around.”

A dry voice echoed in the basement.

Despite its lowness, Joshua’s words still echoed against the stone wall.

“Ariad. That woman!”

It was as if Joshua was referring to someone else.

The crown prince’s sullen disposition caused Macon to feel restless.

However, Charles, the mindless idiot, was still busy chattering.  “That’s right. She told me that she was going to divorce him soon.”

Joshua abruptly turned his head to Macon and stared at him with indifference.

A tired chuckle leaked through his red lips.

“I think he’s sane. Why did you tell such a strange lie, Macon?”

Macon closed his eyes once more when he felt goosebumps breaking out of his skin.

As if he had something to say to Joshua, Macon stepped away from the prison cell and headed straight to the end of the corridors.

Joshua, who followed him coolly, nodded as if giving him permission to speak.

“As you know, Duke Endro has many families that follow him.”

“Ah, Duke Endro. That’s right.”
