The Captain's Sword Technique

Katia's POV

The early morning dragon hunt in the meadow was over.

There was no major damage to our allies so we can say that the hunt was perfect.

At least that's what Katia thinks.

If one would point out, the only problem lies within the Dragon Killer Squad, where the roles of the members wasn't divided equally.

It was easy for Katia to fight with Rohee as she has done it so many times but not so with Flambert-sensei and Captain Zekudo.

No, it seems that Flambert-sensei seemed to have already grasped how she and Rohee were fighting as she was able to give them precise support.

Katia was surprised to see Flambert-sensei shooting sharp support shots while aiming and releasing the arrows at the very last minute to avoid hitting them.

"Thank you for your hard work, Rohee-san, Katia-san, as expected of you two."

Flambert-sensei said that as she folded her large bow and put it into her back.

After that Rohee stroked and shook her blonde hair, looking like she seemed to be very proud of what she had done.

"Hmmm. Of course that's only natural. Flambert-sensei is really great at supporting me after all, I just wish that Katia-san would learn anything from the way sensei fights."

I don't want to be told that by this women.

This freakin hammer idiot.

"Are you an idiot? Don't get carried away with this kind of level. Didn't you see Captain Zekudo's movement? Compared to him we are still lacking in training."

Katia then pointed at the corpse of the dragon that Zekudo had killed.

The corpse had been cut in half.

"How can someone cut off the dragon scales and bones so easily?"

Katia muttered as she looked at what happened to the dragon's corpse.

Even though she and Rohee were working together they were still no match for Zekudo's hunting speed.

This is because Rohee and I doesn't have the ability to slash a dragon so easily.

"Oh, it looks like Zekudo-kun used his technique called the Dragon Killer Slash to kill that dragon."

Flambert-sensei said that as if she just remembered it.

"Dragon Killer Slash?"*

Katia and Rohee were both astonished when they heard that.

"Wait that means that event ten years ago!"

When Rohee said that Flambert-sensei nods with a smile at her.

"Yeah, it's the sword technique that was used by the Hero Forred* when he fought against the S class dragon. That's why when Zekudo-kun is using that sword technique he isn't just slashing you know?"

How did he mastered such a great sword technique?

No, wait.

I believed that the hero Forred's full name is Forred Fal-se.

"Could it be? Captain Zekudo is the son of the hero Forred!"

Katia then looked for Zekudo realizing that he was already gone.

When Katia saw him Zekudo is talking to the knights of the kingdom about something.

"You're really strong you know that right? As expected of the son of the hero."

"Thank you very much."

"Hey, next time please teach me the Dragon Killer Slash too."

"Sorry, but I still haven't mastered the technique that well as it's still a work in progress."

"Eh is that really true? Well if it is then your sword technique would become much stronger than now."

Our captain while being surrounded by a lot strong, heavily armed knights of the kingdom is getting praised by them.

He looks surprisingly happy.

"I didn't noticed that Captain Zekudo and the hero Forred shared the same last name."

"You're right. It's probably the reason why he's so strong. If he learned the sword technique from his father then I'm sure he'll be strong as well like him."

"...But Katia-san, ten years ago, Captain Zekudo was just five years old right?"

"!"

That's right.

Certainly the Hero Forred shouldn't have returned because of what happened during his battle with the S class dragon.

It is very unlikely that he had the time to properly trained Zekudo.

If so, how did he became so strong?

Is there any secret book or something that describes how to do that sword technique?

"I wonder what happened to Captain Zekudo's mother?"

"What?"

"His mother, his mo-ther. I've visited Captain Zekudo's house twice but I've never seen his mother even once even though it was so early in the morning."

Indeed, when I also visited Zekudo's house, it was Zekudo himself who answered the door.

The house is small, but it is big enough for two people to live together, which is not surprising.

Katia and Rohee then looked at Flambert-sensei seeking for an answer.

Flambert-sensei looked like she's in trouble.

"It's better if you don't delve on that matter that much. After all that child has his own problems also."

"I suppose so"

"Yeah, that's right"

I guess Flambert-sensei is right.

It's not a thing to get involved to.

"Just do what you can to help Zekudo-kun also please be nice to him."

It must have been hard for Zekudo to live without his parents.

That was probably what Flambert-sensei was implying.

Kindly, huh?

If he have no parents at that age, should I give him some consideration?

But what should I do to help him?

I would like to ask how did he became so strong without asking anything about his parents.

How can I find out the secret of his strength while being kind to him?

Zekodo's POV

*Knock, knock*

It was the second time today that I heard a knock on my front door.

Who could it be at this hour of the day when the sun was already setting?

It was a rather gentle knock, and I wondered if it was Flambert-sensei.

"Yes, who is it?"

I asked, and then I heard a voice from outside the house.

"It's Katia Rouge."

No way it was Katia-san.

I wonder what she needs at this time.

I was thinking of making dinner.

Since Katia-san is already here maybe I should invite her to eat with me.

With this ulterior motive in my mind, I opened the front door.

And there was Katia standing while still wearing her armor.

I'm surprised when I saw her.

"Good evening, Katia-san. What are you doing here at this hour?"

Katia then held out a paper bag in one of her hand.

"I bought some Dragon Steak but it's a lot more than I expected. If you don't mind, would you like to eat it with me?"

What?

It's a lie right?

Don't tell me Katia-san is inviting me to have dinner with her?

What date is it today, is it my death anniversary?

Katia-san doesn't seemed like she's used to this kind of thing as she's presenting the Dragon Steak to me with her cheeks slightly blushing.

Perhaps this is the gap between her usual dignified appearance and the cute, destructive power she has!

"O-o-o-o-o-of course! It's okay with me! Please come in!"

"Then, I'll disturb you."

"Sure go ahead."

Thus I let a woman into my house for the very first time in my life.

2. The name of the sword technique is not actually Dragon Killer Slash but 竜ドラゴン斬り and it is read as Ryuu Doragongiri which literally translate to Dragon Dragon Slash which I think doesn't make much sense when translated literally to English so I changed it a bit.

3. His name is written as フォレッド which read as Foreddo so I made it Forred so that you will read it as for-red and not fored. Or maybe it can also be translated as Fredo. Please correct me if I'm wrong with this.
