Inextricable

September: Xiacheng – IO Jewelry Group, Translation Department

“Director Fynn of the German TIE Group is visiting the translation department today, so everyone, do your best.” Huang Qiansong, the director of the translation department cheered.

“Okay”, all the members of the translation department responded and started to do their work.

After considering Chen Wanwan’s suggestion, Xu Xingxing came to Xiacheng and joined IO Jewelry, where Chen Wanwan was working.  

“Ahhh….. President Huai is coming today! So excited.”

 As soon as everyone sat down to work, the three little girls next to Xu Xingxing gathered around and screamed softly. Those girls joined the company with Xu Xingxing, they had only worked at IO for a week, and they had never met President Huai, who was coming to inspect today.

 “So excited?” One of the three girls asked.

 Another girl of three seemed a little surprised, and said, “Have you never heard of the fourth young master of Xiacheng? The young master Huai Jing of Huaihe Meiliu is our President Huai, he is the future head of the Huai Group. A few years ago, after graduating from Imperial College of Medicine with a master’s degree, he returned to China and joined the Wyeth Group, running the small jewelry company into the currently listed group, which is our current IO.”

 “He is very handsome! I have seen his interview in a financial magazine, and there are pictures of him!” another one said.

“He is more handsome in real life than in pictures.” Li Miaoxue, a veteran of the translation department said. She was 28 years old this year and very beautiful.

 “Really? Wow!” the girl said enviously, “Sister Li, have you met Mr. Huai?”

“I accompanied Minister Huang to have dinner with Mr. Huai before.” Li Miaoxue was Huang Qiansong’s assistant and had been in the translation department for many years. Yes, her words were highly credible.

“Wow!” The girls screamed again in a low voice.

Every woman has a Cinderella dream. 

“Xu Xingxing, translate this material and give it to me before getting off work.” Li Miaoxue handed a folder to Xu Xingxing.

 “Okay.” She replied.

IO Jewelry Group was a listed company. Their business was spread not only in China but also in other countries, so the translation department was very busy.

“Mr. Huai is here.” Suddenly someone pushed open the glass door outside to inform.

Everyone stood up and got ready to welcome President Huai. Mr. Huang Qiansong and the two deputy ministers walked out of the office and went to the door ahead of time to greet them. 

 Among the group of people who came today, one was speaking in fluent German. So everyone thought it was Director Fynn. 

 He was well-dressed, had pure black hair and his complexion was white, his light-brown eyes were deep like the sea.

When Xu Xingxing saw him, she was very shocked. Her legs trembled slightly, and her back was sweating.

It….It’s him. My God…It’s him. How can he be here?

The man who was talking seemed to be aware of Xu Xingxing’s gaze, and he looked at her with his deep smiling eyes. She panicked and looked away. 

At the end of the inspection, the man politely left with the German group. As soon as the crowd left the translation department, the joyful screams of the girls spread in the department.

“Ahhh! It’s President Huai. He’s so good-looking, and speaks fluent German!”

Xu Xingxing’s mind was a mess.  How can be him…no…I must recognize the wrong man, right? She gradually calmed down, and then started her work.

It was time to get off work, but she had not finished her work. Chen Wanwan came over with an umbrella and looked at Xu Xingxing. “Hey, it’s going to rain, let’s go home. This document will not be used until next week, so you can complete this tomorrow.”

“You go back first, I can finish this soon. ” Xu Xingxing replied.

 Chen Wanwan knew Xu Xingxing’s temper, so she didn’t insist and said: “Ok, then I’ll go. My husband is on a business trip, so I have to pick up my son. My mother-in-law told me it’ll be rain today, so I’ll leave the umbrella for you.”

 “No need, it’s still not raining. I’ll leave in a while. See you tomorrow. Go quickly. Your son may be waiting.” Xu Xingxing said.

 “Ok then. Bye, pay attention to your safety.” Chen Wanwan left.

After her friend left, Xu Xingxing did her work. By the time the document was translated all the people in her department had gone. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning split the dark sky, and it was about to rain. Xu Xingxing quickly packed up and left the office. It was raining when she reached the lobby, so she turned back and was about to go to the front desk to borrow an umbrella, she heard someone was coming. So when she looked up, she saw President Huai was coming toward her.

Xu Xingxing panicked, hurriedly turned around and walked towards the side door of the company. When she stepped outside, she was blocked by the heavy rain and splashed by the rain. Without an umbrella, it was hard to go. When Xingxing was thinking about how to go home, the raindrops at her feet suddenly stopped. She looked up and saw a black umbrella. Someone held an umbrella to block the rain for her.

Xu Xingxing met a pair of peach blossom eyes, and she was breathless for a moment.

 “Long time no see.” His voice was low and magnetic. Xu Xingxing shivered. He still remembered her. 

 Unforgettable memories that happened on that fateful night flashed in her mind. Her face turned red.

 Huai Jing looked down at the woman beside him. She was still dressed in plain clothes, only showing her white neck. 

 Xu Xingxing lowered her head, and said softly, “Mr.Huai, you have got the wrong person.” 

 A smile flashed in his eyes. “So, you and your ex-husband have remarried?”
