Legacy of the Dark Sage

237 Training Result (3)

When the man who went inside the tree obelisk's area returned with the rest of the numas, they all looked at him with grave expressions. To them, his sudden return signified that the tree of obelisk could no longer help them.

For hundreds of years, their tribe had tried to rely on the tree of obelisk's energy to sustain what little life left in their world. It was the only thing the sovereign allowed them to do. Once, their predecessors ventured outside their haven and tried to revive the obelisks that had stopped working. When the sovereign found out, he killed all of their predecessors and even destroyed the tribes they belonged to. Since then, they had stopped and only relied on the obelisks left.

Today, after they witnessed the Sovereign of Ruin's anger, they did their best to pray. Unfortunately, the destruction of their world became more apparent.

All the Chief Tribe and Elders had gathered to ask the Head Augur what they had to do. But before the Head Augur could learn how to appease the sovereign's anger, the world's destruction had begun.

The hours that followed had been one of despair. They told all their elites to investigate. Then they heard a piece of strange news from the elites who went to the Sovereign of Ruin's tower. They said that no one could come close to it. It was as if the tower was there, yet it wasn't.

Then the Head Augur did an augury to find that the Sovereign of Ruin had left.

Their hope had been dashed.

But the Chief of one of the bigger tribes made a bold suggestion. He suggested excavating the tree obelisk and placing it in the middle where all the tribes were located, then using it to prevent the world's destruction from coming to them.

The idea at first sounded good, but the Head Augur reminded them of how the obelisks came to be. He also told them that if the obelisks could be easily excavated, why didn't the sovereign do it? The Sovereign of Ruin must have thought of it; in the end, he decided to destroy it.

Then they thought of reviving the other obelisks. This suggestion was rejected by many because they feared that those obelisks had already been destroyed, and letting their people go would be equal to leading them to their death. Aside from this, their predecessor's method to revive the obelisks was not guaranteed.

Their last resort was to keep the tree obelisk from getting destroyed. They knew that doing so did not mean it would stop the world's destruction. At most, it would delay it. And that was enough because what they needed was enough time to find a way to save their people. After all, it was not the first time their world faced destruction. If they found the path that led them to another world, they would again leave to survive.

All members agreed to this notion. Thus, the seven bigger tribes selected their most reliable members and had them go to the tree obelisk. Their task was to ensure its good condition, and then they would create additional protection around it.

It was, for this reason, their heart sunk after seeing the man's return.

Just before one of them could ask what he discovered, the man gave said with a slight smile, "Why do you all look like that?"

"What about you? Why did you return so soon?" One of the women asked back.

"Change of plans," the man replied still with a smile.

One of the men, with short red hair, frowned and said, "You—can't you be more sensible? This is the last course of action the Chiefs and Elders have decided. If we change our plans again—and will you stop smiling?"

The man ignored him and continued, "Let's head back. I have to tell the Chiefs and Elders that that man has sent someone to fix our world!"

The others looked at him in confusion. While the frown on the man with red hair deepened, "What do you mean that man?"

"The Void Master."

His answer was short, but when the six numas heard it, their expressions turned from confusion to disbelief, then to relief.

"Are you sure?"

"The Void Master has returned?"

"Wait, you said he sent someone, who is it?"

"Is that person even reliable? Can we trust him?"

The other six bombarded the man with questions.

However, the man had no intentions of answering and simply said, "He is the Void Master's subordinate, and he also possesses the Purple Rings. There's still hope. Let's go back and report."

The other woman nodded in agreement, "Yes. They have to know this at once."

"You guys go back. I'll stay here and keep an eye on things."

One of the men said.

The man who had just spoken was the youngest of the group, and the color of his rune tattoos was gold.

The man with the green tattoos nodded, "Alright."

As the man with the gold tattoos watched the other numas leave, he flew away and kept a thousand-meter distance from the tree obelisk's area of influence. Then faced the direction of the tree obelisk while sitting cross-legged in midair.

Suddenly, his expression and demeanour changed. His eyes glowed in gold while the rune tattoos on his body disappeared.

A small smile tugged at the corner of his lips as his eyes turned gold and the rune tattoos on his body disappeared. His jade-like skin also changed, turning a little translucent like jade porcelain.

"The subordinate of the Void Master," he muttered as three different-sized gold rings appeared above his head like halos.

"Someone has brazenly appeared and declare he is the Void Master's subordinate? It seems, the Coven of The Twelve's decision to investigate the Sovereign of Ruin's activities is wise. Now I have found a rogue one, who has the ability to drive back the Sovereign of Ruin's essence."

The Coven of The Twelve were an organization that the Twelve Venerable formed. Throughout the history of all planes, they were responsible for maintaining the balance on all planes. When a sovereign overstepped their bounds, the Coven would either seal or kill the sovereign accordingly. Of course, they had to make a thorough investigation before acting. It was the reason they had done nothing to the Sovereign of Ruin's antics because his actions were still within limits.

Anyway, the Coven kept all information hidden regardless of what had become of their subject of investigation.

It was why the man knew the Void Master from the Human plane had died a thousand years ago. He also knew that a manhunt was done to kill all of his family to make sure a new Void Master would never appear. Even if a mage claimed to be the Void Master's subordinate and could produce purple rings, it did not mean those had 'Void' properties.

After all, among the four great powers, Void was the only one that could not be taught. The only ones who could possess it were someone who possessed the Void core.

While the man was contemplating all these things, the whole plane shook, and an immense magic fluctuation covered the entire plane.

The man's smile turned into a sneer as he looked up.

Simultaneously, five massive purple rings appeared in the sky. Within the purple rings, runes began to appear, and each time they appeared, the rings rotated in alternate directions. The first outer ring rotated clockwise, while the next one in counter-clockwise, and so on.

The man's eyes narrowed as he watched the purple rings.

"No... not a subordinate. This is the power of the Void Master," he muttered, and his expression turned solemn.

He planned to report this incident to the Coven and issue a thorough investigation of the man who self-proclaimed to be the Void Master's subordinate. He did not expect that he would actually find a new one.

'No wonder he could drive back the Sovereign of Ruin... Interesting,' he thought and lowered his gaze.

Below, he witnessed the ground lit in a purple glow before a massive array formation appeared.

It was noticeable that the array formation had not been drawn on the ground because the whole array could still be seen even through the crevices and the magma.

Once again, a massive magic fluctuation covered the whole plane. Purple semi-transparent pillars fell from the five massive rings above and fell on different points on the array formation.

The man's eyes contracted as he witnessed the crevices on the ground begin to close. Even the magma that flowed everywhere stopped and even started to disappear.

'Truly a spectacle that only someone with the Void could do,' the man thought with a bemused smile.

Meanwhile, at the center of the formation, all the numas who witnessed the whole thing could not help but prostrate once again.

Even the six numas who came to check the tree obelisk had stopped flying and also bowed with clasped hands in the direction of the tree obelisk. All of them were muttering a silent prayer of gratitude in their hearts.

This event went on for six hours.

When the massive purple rings above began to fade, the dark sky also cleared, revealing a beautiful bluish-green sky. The sky they had not seen for hundreds of years.

The sky's light fell on the ground, now filled with life aura. A greenery scene spread throughout the plane, filling the once dry and desolate land.

All the numas could not believe what they were seeing. What had happened was genuinely restoring their world in a state when it still had the Great Tree.

BOOM!

When the numas thought the restoration of their world had ended, the whole ground trembled again, and they all turned toward the Sovereign of Ruin's tower.

What they saw made them gape in amazement and, at the same time, fill their hearts with the warmth of pure gratitude.

Because the tower began to fade as a new tree emerged.

Back at the tree obelisk, Kyran was breathing heavily. He was no longer wearing the full-body armor, and the floating island was nowhere to be seen. Instead, a miniature Void Armor was sitting in front of him.

Right at that moment, the Void Armor was pointing at him accusingly.

"Look! Look! See what I've become! Now I can only be in this form!"

The miniature Void Armor was none other than True Void.

Kyran chuckled as he looked at True Void, "That look is better than your furball form."

The armor's face appeared to distort as True Void replied, "Please don't mention that again!"

"How much magic energy do you still have?" Kyran asked changing the subject.

"Just enough to keep myself in this form. You've really overexerted yourself. Also recreating the Great Tree... do you know my master did not try it because we're talking about a divine creation here! Do you want to offend the Higher Being?"

The reason Kyran recreated the Great Tree was simple, he felt that reactivating the obelisks and restoring the plane was not enough to solve this plane's problem. Only when this plane became independent would the problem be solved.

Kyran also adjusted the array formation to protect the Great Tree in case another sovereign took a liking to this plane and planned to destroy the tree.

"If I offend the Higher Being then so be it, I'll deal with it when the time comes," Kyran replied with a slight smile.

"You! Argh! Fine! Deal with it then. When the time comes, I will not assist you!"

Kyran chuckled and raised his brows at him, "Are you sure? If I die, you're also doomed."

"ARGH! Fine! Fine! You troublemaker!"

Before Kyran could reply, the ground before him shook, and a gold tablet ascended slowly.

'This...'

Kyran's eyes widened as he recognized the gold tablet was the same one he entered back in the tower.

While he was thinking of this, overlapping voices sounded in his head.

"You have successfully completed your first training. You will now return to the tower."

The gold tablet emitted a blinding light, which made Kyran close his eyes.

Searing hot pain spread through his left arm as soon as he reappeared in the tower.

"Argh," Kyran fell on his knees and his breath came in short gasps.

'Damn it, its broken,' he thought and held his left arm. Beads of sweat trickled down his face from the pain.

"Analyzing all your accomplished training tasks...."

The overlapping voices spoke again.

"Training Result, SS. You are allowed to receive three rewards...."
