Chapter 27 - The small loyal dog becomes even more closed off......

I guessed that, after watching for so long, it’s almost dawn, so I’m afraid I can’t delay any longer.

Thinking that there probably won’t be any other important matters, I carelessly skipped over a few scenes, preparing to get out.

I never thought that I would conveniently land on something quite shocking. In the poplar forest where few people came, a new group of people had arrived once again. The party had six or seven people wearing black clothes, and most were covering their faces, with the exception of Yun Pizhi.

He was already exhausted, eyes deeply sunken in their sockets, and in the short period of half a month, he already didn’t have the graceful looks he did originally.

The black-clothed people quickly located the right place and began digging, Yun Pizhi leaned against the tree without saying a word, holding his left arm with his right, I could see that his left hand was already crippled.

“What are we digging him up for now?” Yun Pizhi didn’t understand as he said, “Even if he really died from A Day After Autumn, Yaksha made such a racket that Qinling will also inevitably think there is something strange, and I’m afraid they won’t be willing to believe all of it.”

Not one of those black-clothed swordsmen replied, still digging rapidly. They quickly unearthed a whole corpse with hideously purple bruising.

They tossed the corpse onto the surface, and a jade pendant tumbled out from inside his clothes. Yun Pizhi crouched to the side, intently looking at that jade pendant, looking lost in thought for a moment.

One of the men wore his hair tied up high with a black gold ribbon, with a wave of his hand, the others all retreated to the side. He crouched down next to the body, attentively examining it, making sure there were no other wounds, then he reached out with his hand and measured the size of the sword wound on the chest.

“One cun and two li1 .” Boss black gold ribbon suddenly said.

Two of the men in the group answered, and offered the swords they were holding. He took them out one at a time and swept a glance at them, picking the first one: “Not bad.”

Yun Pizhi’s eyelid jumped, his chest was already cold.

The sword of the black gold ribbon man was very quick, in the space of a breath it had already returned to it’s scabbard, having not brought out a single trace of blood as Yun Pizhi fell to the ground. The surrounding men quickly peeled the clothes and ornaments off Qin Kezou’s body, and dressed Yun Pizhi in them, roughly throwing him into the hole and beginning to bury him.

Little by little he was covered in yellow dirt and dead leaves, he hurriedly gasped for breath, not dead yet, only storm clouds remaining in his eyes. Gradually, those storm clouds also dissipated.

I really wanted to ask him what he was thinking about in that moment.

In the end, did he have any regrets?

“Was that necessary?” Somebody couldn’t help but ask.

“If it hadn’t been necessary, then naturally that would have been better.” The black gold ribbon man indifferently said, “But since the Master has decided to enact his play, it should be made up of a full cast.”

He straightened up and said: “Yaksha is crazy, he personally killed his master—Afterwards, this will be the truth about what happened. Even for Yaksha himself, it will be no exception.”

I cut back to reality from the recording, and couldn’t calm down for a long time. I thought a lot about it as I leaned on the carved railing, and my heart grew increasingly more upset.

Gu Ciqu knew what she liked and what she didn’t, and she made her choice, I liked that. Qin Qi’s true love poisoned him, and he didn’t hold any resentment, he was a very gentle person. And Yun Pizhi, seeing his body be buried underneath the dirt made me think that, in the end, he was a pitiful person....

I remembered when Ye Tan said: In all this world, no matter how good my gongfu is, turns out I can’t save anyone after all.

And how should I not be like this?

I boast about being the Creator God, but how can I settle these disputes and let everyone be satisfied?

I rubbed the space between my brows, bowing my head to look at the empty space in front of the bed and seeing a sword placed there.

That rough and shabby sword was neatly arranged, in the same manner as that time when Yaksha bid farewell to Young Master Qin Qi.

My heart suddenly felt cold, and I rushed out the door.

He was still kneeling upright in the middle of that poplar forest, bleak autumn wind carrying dead leaves over his shoulders, as though the events from three years ago were still vivid in his mind.

I suddenly realised the real weight of life and death, and from the bottom of my heart felt that being alive was good. Being alive was enough.

As long as you’re alive, anything can still be redeemed.

I walked quietly and stood behind him, forcing myself to calm down.

“You were right.” Ye Tan opened his mouth first.

He said: “I’m a blade that doesn’t distinguish between right or wrong, true or false.”

“I thought..... I thought..... I really heard Master’s words, saved the person Master liked, and prevented the two families from fighting. But..... if..... if Master wasn’t even poisoned.....” He painfully bent down, hating that he couldn’t bury himself in that endless earth, “That bad reputation I’ve had for so many years.... Turns out, it wasn’t wrong.”

He dug his fingernails into his palms, and they were quickly filled with blood.

Seeing this, my heart was alarmed, so I grabbed his hand and pried it open.

When Ye Tan felt my strength, he slowly turned his head with a deathly still expression: “Your inner strength has recovered.” He paused, seeming as though a weight had been taken off his mind, and revealed a shocking, shallow smile, “In that case...... I won’t have to worry about you......”

It really seemed like he was going to kill himself.

“Ye Tan!” I got a little angry, “Are you forgetting who your Master is now?”

“I should have died three years ago.” Ye Tan said in a quiet voice, “Originally, I..... should never have had the fortune of meeting you.”

“What if you’ve been lied to?” I asked.

Ye Tan didn’t answer, looking dazed.

“A-Tan. I’ve always thought you had your own reasons, so I never pressed you for answers. But now, I discovered that you are just one of the victims of this deception.” I looked at the blood on his palm, feeling endlessly sorry for him, and gently licked it clean little by little. This is a body that I’ve spent a lot of care and effort to properly nurture bit by bit.

“Then, I can’t leave you to be fooled around by others.” Ye Tan didn’t say anything as he watched me clean the bloodstains off both his hands. I tore my clothes and used them as bandages, and gazed seriously into his eyes, “A-Tan, I will get involved in your affairs from now on, and I won’t let you get away with not answering my questions, so don’t blame me.”

I thought, I might not be able to save everyone.

But this person in front of me, I will do whatever it takes to protect.
