Chapter 64 - A warm celebration for the return of the small loyal dog Q3Q

——I woke up with a start.

I felt very strange, I clearly hadn’t fallen asleep, and I didn’t pass out, but why did I feel like I had woken up?

There was something cold on my forehead. The man in the fox mask, whose appearance was a stark resemblance to Ye Tan, was touching the cinnabar spot between my brows with the tip of his finger, his body temperature was surprisingly low, and he firmly clamped down on Ye Lan’s right wrist with his other hand.

I lowered my head to look down at my chest, it was wholly intact, only covered with the wounds left behind by the torture of these past few days. It seemed like the slight chill I’d felt just now had been an illusion.

I didn’t know why it felt like there was a spring of sorrow bubbling up in my heart, but the sorrow faded in the blink of an eye. It seemed like I had just experienced major grief….. but I didn’t remember anything about it.

The man with the fox mask withdrew his hand from my forehead and, with a light squeeze of his other hand, the abrupt sound of bones breaking rang out as Ye Lan’s wrist was twisted and broken. It seemed like Ye Lan couldn’t feel the pain as he stubbornly attacked once again with his left hand, he moved with such incomparably quick and violent power that he had already closed in to that man’s chest. But he only lightly clasped his knuckles, snapped his fingers and, without any other movement, Ye Lan was blown away by what seemed like an invisible wall of force, and his entire person was sent flying into the wall of the courtyard.

The wall collapsed with a loud bang, bricks and roof tiles were sent flying, and Ye Lan was firmly buried inside. He didn’t hesitate in the slightest and grabbed both of Ye Lan’s feet, forcibly pulling him out from the ruins of heavy stone he was being firmly crushed under and, lifting him upside down, ruthlessly broke his ankles.

Ye Xiao was stunned, he didn’t know how to react, only blankly staring at that person: “Bo….. boss?”

“He isn’t Ye Tan! Don’t go over there!” I shouted at Ye Xiao, also secretly frightened. This person’s whole body had a breathtaking, evil aura, and although his voice and appearance were the same, I knew he was absolutely not Ye Tan.

“…..Jun Wuwang.” That person lowered his eyes, silently saying, “That is my name, remember it well, do not confuse me with Ye Tan.”

Ye Lan’s hands and feet were entirely crippled, but he still struggled to crawl back up to fight again with a tenacity that came from who-knows-where. Jun Wuwang lowered his head to look at him, an abnormally dense hatred in his eyes, and impatiently said: “Must I cripple all the joints in your body for you to finally behave and do as you’re told?”

Ye Xiao reacted at this, throwing himself in front of Ye Lan’s body, blocking him, waiting to strike with the broken blade between his fingers. Ye Xiao had always been adept with concealed weapons and throwing knives, so he was lightly equipped and didn’t need cloth armour, and his defence was extremely low. If he was hit in the same way Ye Lan had been just now, I’m afraid it would be hard for him to keep his life.

I could only think that this was a very bad turn of events, but Jun Wuwang withdrew from his position, giving way as he smiled at him: “Ye Xiao, you keep an eye on him, if you don’t do anything unnecessary, I will naturally not make things difficult for him.”

Unexpectedly, he easily let the two of them off, then, he slowly turned around and locked his steady gaze onto the Second Young Master, who was hidden among a crowd of guards.

After feeling that cold, penetrating gaze on him, the Second Young Master actually took a step back in fear.

Just now, I had thought that Jun Wuwang was on the Second Young Master’s side, but now I see that the hatred he has towards the Second Young Master has only gotten worse and worse.

Who on earth is he, and why is he here?

The Second Young Master was extremely sharp, and he ascertained the advantages and disadvantages of the situation in an instant, lowering his voice and giving a command without hesitation: “Retreat.”

The guards in the surroundings accepted the order, and with the clear sound of a whistle, a dense fog burst into the courtyard, the clouds covered the moon in a split second and I couldn’t see anything. I could only hear the sudden sound of a mechanism, and a violent current of wind surged up all around us, sweeping past like a violent wave in a stormy sea, and it seemed like countless tunnels had sprung up at the same time.

Almost simultaneously, the sounds of blood-curdling screams fell one after the other, accompanied by Jun Wuwang’s disdainful mocking:

“——Did I allow you to leave?”

When the fog dissipated, the almost a hundred guards that were originally there had all fallen to the ground, having met a violent death. The Second Young Master was pinned to the ground by a longsword piercing through his shoulder, and Jun Wuwang was stepping on his head. The only person left standing beside him was Ye Jun.

Ye Jun’s sword scabbard was already empty, it was precisely that sword that was pinning the Second Young Master to the ground.

His speed was absolutely beyond human ability.

Ye Jun clearly also didn’t know why he himself was still standing, and his expression was somewhat astonished.

Jun Wuwang looked at Ye Jun, and only said: “Move a few chairs over, we still have to wait.”

Ye Jun only listened to one person’s orders, so he hesitated a bit. Jun Wuwang didn’t want to waste time arguing with him, so he silently increased the strength of his foot and the light sound of cracking came from the Second Young Master’s skull, who was unable to restrain himself and let out a pained groan as he was crushed.

Ye Jun immediately threw away his sword and went.

Jun Wuwang took advantage of the free waiting time and strolled beside the Second Young Master’s feet, then ruthlessly stomped down on his ankle. He ground down with the tip of his foot, each movement filled with inner strength, until the flesh and bones became separated.

He just stomped down silently, his hatred having seemingly reached its peak, but he did not say a word. Not a sound could be heard between heaven an earth, the atmosphere was heavy and strange, and the only noises came from the sounds of bones being crushed, the Second Young Master’s low gasps, and Ye Lan’s pained mumbling.

Jun Wuwang silently continued the torture until Ye Jun returned.

Jun Wuwang pulled up a Taishi chair1 , looking down to accurately press the leg of the chair down on the Second Young Master’s right hand, and sat down.

His bones and veins were shattered with a creak, and the Second Young Master again muffled the groaning sound coming from his throat, which even hurt me to hear.

I watched as Jun Wuwang peacefully sat among the corpses, holding his chin up with his hand and leisurely closing his eyes as though he were taking a nap, and asked in bewilderment: “Who….. are you waiting for?”

He laughed softly: “Ye Tan.”

This demon actually came here for Ye Tan. I was alarmed, and suddenly found the strength to struggle to crawl back up. Jun Wuwang opened his eyes, looked at me, and asked: “There is no need to flail about, are you still not in enough pain?”

I stiffened: Was that a threat? …..However, I couldn’t just sit here and watch as Ye Tan fell into the lion’s den.

Jun Wuwang suddenly turned his head and issued a command: “Ye Jun, go help him treat his injuries. That medicine you wanted to give him before but couldn’t, you can give it to him now.”

…..Was he truly concerned about me? I simply couldn’t figure him out.

“I’m fine…..” I frowned, “If you’re really going to be so kind, just take a look at Ye Lan first.”

He suddenly flew into a rage, clenching his teeth and saying: “Don’t take it too far. If you say anything on behalf of Ye Lan again I will kill him immediately.”

This person is so temperamental, he’s really difficult to understand.

Ye Lan was sinking into chaos again, his whole body shuddering uncontrollably and his mental state on the verge of collapse as he hissed and wailed in his delirium: “Will you die in their hands again? Am I still unable to save you? I’ve worked hard enough, Gui Mao, I can’t do any better….. What do you want me to do…..”

Ye Xiao struggled to hold him down and calm him, but Ye Lan was deaf to it all. Ye Xiao had no alternative but to restrain Ye Lan in his arms and press his sleeping acupoint, and only then did that body that was doing everything it could to struggle finally calm down. Ye Xiao embraced the bloody and scarred Ye Lan, and softly said: “Go to sleep first, when you fall asleep it won’t hurt any more.”

Ye Jun brought back warm water and fed me the medicine, then began to wash my injuries and apply medicine.

The medicine was indeed very effective, and my pain was immediately reduced by half, so it wasn’t that unbearable any more.

Ye Xiao didn’t dare act rashly, so he glanced at Jun Wuwang and stealthily helped Ye Lan by passing some of his internal power to protect his heart.

As I was bandaged half-way, Jun Wuwang suddenly lifted his eyes and said: “He’ll be here soon.”

When I heard that, it was bad. I struggled free from Ye Jun and jumped up, wanting to let Ye Tan know that he should leave.

But Jun Wuwang had flashed beside me at some point, and he gently pushed me back: “Don’t move. You can rest assured, I won’t see him. I will leave this place before he shows up.”

Jun Wuwang cast a sidelong glance at the Second Young Master who was pinned to the ground: “Zhongli Court has secret underground passages everywhere, all of which are complicated and risky, so it would be very easy for the Second Young Master to escape, you should keep an eye on him.”

He turned his gaze towards the eastern roof. The darkness before his eyes was vast, but his expression made it seem like he could pierce through the layers of mountains and rivers. Jun Wuwang suddenly became lost in thought, and muttered to himself in a low voice: “I….. will leave right away. Right away, just…..”

The sound of the wind arrived from the branches by the roof, treading on the tips of the leaves as lightly as though there was nothing there, and flew gracefully, nimbly and steadily dropping down by my feet.

He meekly knelt down on one knee and, after a long time, he greeted me.

“Master.”

That was a title I was used to, and had never put a stop to. Looking back, I realise how hard it was to come by, and how I would do everything I could to be worthy of it.

It seemed like I suddenly understood everything.
