Little Purple

Chapter 91

The guest instantly went into silence, they started to kneel as the servants opened the big door on the opposite side of the hall.

"May the emperor live a thousand year filled with prosperity."

The emperor walked in with his consort on his side, he wore a golden dragon robe with white fur hems. His long black hair was tied and pinned by a beautiful golden hairpin and a majestic golden crown.

Concubine Yue, on the other hand, had a red robe with white hems and a lot of beautiful hairpin on her hair, the amount of hairpin she had was even more than the empress. Red lips, pink flush, a decoration on her forehead, and her crafty smart eyes caught the guest's attention.

Looking at the sight made Qing Bo frowned, he took a glance at the empress. The empress looked calm, she was still smiling beautifully, but Qing Bo could vaguely saw her eyes glinted slightly, seemingly trying to hold the pain she felt inside.

If someone didn't know their true ranks, he would've thought that Concubine Yue was the empress instead. This made Qing Bo a bit confused, he wondered why the emperor still only had the empress as his legitimate wive even though he clearly treated her worse than other concubines.

The emperor looked around the hall, everyone but Tora and Ten was kneeling. The reason the other two weren't kneeling was since such wasn't their culture, they rarely kneeled even in front of their own king or queen. I exchange to that, they didn't make the slightest sound as a sign of respecting the emperor's arrival.

The emperor locked eyes with Ten and Tora, he then looked straight and gave his order, "Rise," he said as the people responded with. "Thank the emperor."

Hu Zi looked at the emperor, she thought, "knowing how good looking his children were, it was no wonder if he looked this beautiful."

The emperor said some word, he didn't forget to welcome the earthen tribe back to the banquet that was always been held annually ever since the Jin Empire was established. The banquet was first held as a commemoration of the day Jin Empire was born, but now it was also an event where Jin's nobles and allies gathered.

Just when he said, "Since everyone is here, let's begin the banquet."

A voice was heard. "Wait, Father, the Chu Empire's Prime Minister, isn't here yet."

Jin Min frowned heavily as he recognized the voice that came from the other side of the hall. There was a special screen there, the corner was specially reserved for Jin Empire's only princess and her friends. "We should wait for him first." Jin Min's eyes grew darker and darker. If he or Jin Lei were the one who said such a spoiled phrase in front of so many important people, they were done for. But, the girl who came out of the white screen could get away with almost everything, including the emperor's wrath.

Fa Sui was shocked when he saw someone abruptly mentioned the prime minister of Chu. His face paled as he gulped. He looked up and saw the girl who was wearing beautiful pink clothes. He frowned. "It's Jin Ru Yin."

The Chu Empire was once the Jin Empire's close ally, but the rift between them grew as Jin Qi, the current emperor of Jin, made his intention toward the Chu Empire obvious and sent an army to their border.

The current prime minister of Chu once attended the banquet. It was the one just a year before Jin sent the army. But after that event, he had never attended the banquet again.

It seems that within that one time he attended, the prime minister made a very strong impression on Jin Ru Yin. She had been looking for him, wondering if she would be able to meet him again year after year.

"Yes, he seemed to be absent, my daughter." Jin Qi made a smile. Something very rare to be seen on his face. Jin Min and Jin Lei frowned at it. He spoiled her too much.

The people that were inside the banquet were nobles that had lower status than the princess, so they could only let her spoiled behavior pass. But Tora and Ten could frown at her.

Her mother, Concubine Yue, saw their frowned face and immediately tried to think of a way to get out of the situation. She saw the empress standing below the platform. She suddenly reminded of the small courtyard the empress wanted to give to the returning prince, after looking around the hall, she called one of the servants and confirmed that she could use this to divert the crowd's attention. Concubine Yue smirked. "It seems that he is not the only one absent here, my dear sister, Empress, do you know where Lan go?"
