Master Of Myths

Chapter 243 - A Friendly Bout

"Are we really doing this grandpa?"

"No need to fear, our guest does not hold ill intentions, I am sure she will hold back her punches"

"No Grandpa, I fear I might accidentally hurt her.."

"Heh, try your best Yit"

Yityi ushered his reluctant grandson into the field of snow where Ellis stood on guard under the curious eyes of many yeti's surrounding the field

"Umm, miss, I don't want to hurt you so could you please call off the fight? Grandpa could see your fighting prowess using some different methods"

"I must show mister Yityi a direct comparison to your race's power, plus I am not as weak as you might think"

Ellis assured the young yeti and took a stance, confident in her ability to fight this supposed strong race head-on, no weapon or tricks needed

Meanwhile, Yityi was approached by an even bigger yeti than Yit, one with clawing marks peaking under his fur every time he moved, times of war certainly left their scars on him

"Who is this challenger that has come to our doorstep Grandfather"

"It is not a challenger Yi, merely someone offering a friendly exchange"

"Then why fight? My son of all people"

Yeti's head moved to glance at his grandson's father, who was also his grandson, it is just that he forgot which generation these children have come to and referred to all of them as grandchildren

Seeing the worried look in the yeti's eyes he glanced back at the field where Ellis already shot toward Yit with her fist glowing in purple

"To prove a claim of theirs, don't worry Yit won't get hurt, he is not so weak to get injured in a friendly boat, in fact he might be capable of holding his-" Puff!

A big white blur passed by the two before landing in a pile of snow small yeti's were playing in, causing the children to laugh at Yit who was now half-buried in snow with no movement at all

"...."

The entire venue went silent, only the children's sweet laugh was heard as the adults tore their eyes away in shame from the sight, even Ellis was feeling awkward s the fight went differently from what she expected

'Cant let them feel insulted, I have to mend the situation'

How? She didn't know, but as she opened her mouth to wing it Yityi spoke first

"This slow headed grandson of mine turned out to be so incompetent, underestimating his opponent to this degree, what a shame to the sanctuary"

The ball that the chief was shook disapprovingly, then glanced at the failure's father

"Go right your son's wrongings Yi"

"By your orders Grandfather"

With anger filling his tone Yi marched into the snowfield, casting his flaming gaze not at Ellis, but at his own son who didn't even try to defend himself against Ellis's attack

"Umm, Greetings, I am Ellis, it is an honor to fight you"

Speaking politely Ellis garnered the attention of the battle scarred Yi who gave a silent nod in response

"If you use weapons then please feel free to take them out, I am not a greenhorn who requires you to be handicapped"

"My weapons are all lethal so I shan't use them"

"Hmph, consider yourself warned"

Feeling belittled himself Yi stood there with muscles clenched, eyes shifting from normal into nothing but radiating blue, which his white fur followed suit

Sensing the dangerous energy coming off this foe Ellis wasted no time activating her new Aura, spreading with her as the center a dome of multicolored light

The two stared down one another and recognized they were both ready, thus with no need for a referee Yi ran toward Ellis with stomping steps

Bam!

Soon as he was within melee range he blasted her with an unforgiving punch, shuffling the snow into the air and blocking the viewers' vision of her momentarily

When the snow did subside they saw no trace of the redhead, not in front of Yi at least, for Ellis had appeared behind him with her fist ablaze in orange fire

Feeling the heat radiating off his back Yi responded with a back kick, hitting her directly without any chance for the punch to reach

'What?'

Feeling nothing but some heat passing through his feat Yi knew something was off, and his guess was assured when a sense of danger came over his back, but in his kicking posture he could not turn fast enough to counter or even avoid the attack, allowing Ellis to land a blow on his unguarded back

The stroke only staggered Yi forward and did not cause much of an impact, so he quickly rotated to face the tricky foe, who was no longer there

'How is she so good at hiding?'

It was a plain open field yet there was no sign of Ellis anywhere, it was as if she melded into the snow itself

'I know, if I cant spot her then I will force her out'

Thinking so he put bot fists together and smashed down at the ground, rupturing the snow into the sky

This however did not help his predicament at all, despite the area attack Ellis was still nowhere to be seen, instead, he saw two fireballs seemingly appearing out of thin air approach from his sides

Rather than dodging he palmed both fireballs, and as he expected they were nothing more than a small wave of heat

'Illusions, I see, I mistook this power as something similar to Grandfather's aura of might, looks like I was wrong'

Getting an idea as to what he was up against Yi decided to fight differently

"HeeeeHAAA"

From a low shout to a stunning roar the mighty yeti dazed Ellis with merely his sound, breaking her illusion if even for a few moments

"There you are!"

Spotting her a dozen meters to his right Yi shot out with a kick, one Ellis had no choice but to dodge, this was the real her and no illusion, if hit the fight might as well be over

Punches, palm strikes, kicks, Yi showered her with one attack after the other making sure she had no time to swap out with an illusion

In a bind Ellis chose to have her illusions strike at him instead of trying to hide her, which almost tricked Yi, but recalling how the fireballs and fake figures of her turned to heat he gave up defending all together and focused on barraging the tiring redhead with his attacks

In his flurry of attacks, all types of elements struck at him, one after the other, failing miserably to do anything, until…

Fwuash! "Ha?"

The flames that erupted under him actually hurt, even though his own frosty body didn't get damaged that didn't hide the fact that they were actually real flames

Next, a large boulder manifested above him, combined with the earlier burn he feared the boulder might be real and moved to jump away

At the last second when he was about to dodge he saw Ellis also jumping away, a slight smirk apparent on her face

'You little!'

Knowing this turned out to be a trick Yi was enraged and reversed his trajectory, jumping at the unsuspecting Ellis and surprising her with a quick punch

"Ahh!"

Blasted away she skid across the snow as the momentum of the punch took her out of the field and next to the watching yeti's, leaving behind a bloody trail across the white expanse

"Haah, haah"

Yi breathed haggardly, the fight took a toll on him since he could not relent attacking even for half a second or she would go back into hiding, victory was his however so it was more than worth it

"Petty tricks can only take you so far, you lack real strength to injure me"

He spoke, knowing that without a weapon her punches would hardly dent him, a full blown punch to an open back merely staggered him after all

Ellis took her time to stand up, weakly at that, even though he didn't get to put all his force into that punch and did it quickly it still broke her ribs, and a few more bones

When she managed to stand she wiped the blood off her mouth and looked at him expectantly, then with a smiling expression

"My Master and I once struggled immensely with enemies we couldn't breach the defense of, it plagued us ever since we arrived at this world and even till weeks ago, that is why I came up with a way to deal with the likes of you"

"And what would that be?"

"Its effect will kick in shortly"

"?"

Confused Yi stared at her, then around him, then back at her, yet there seemed nothing out of the ordinary

'What has she got under her sleeve?.... Whatever it is everything is useless….. nobody can beat the yeti….race's…..huh?'

As thoughts came slower and slower he noticed his vision blur, then the scenery shifted from the foe standing before him into the white snow with his body facepalming into the ground before everything finally turned dark
