1684 The Jiang Family 3

The King sneered.

Tring to get rid of the Jiang Family? It was too late.

What was the point of arguing about the turns. They would be beheaded sooner or later. They would not escape the punishment even if Lord Huai showed up, because Lord Huai was going to be beheaded as well.

What was the point of arguing now?

Anyway, he was not going to stop them. He was going to let them argue since they were dying anyway.

However…

"Behead them as I said," the King said, quietly.

"Yes"

Standing not far from the gate, he was in a very good mood.

Those people who were related to the Jiang Family would soon disappear within these few days.

That excited him a great deal.

However, his smile stiffened, as he saw a person he really did not want to see.

"King, what are you doing here? Lord Huai is gone and yet you don't search for him, you are killing innocent people instead. With how brutal you are, aren't you afraid the capital will become chaotic?"

"The Jiang Family has helped Lord Huai escape. They have to pay for what they have done. He is hiding behind all of this, and the innocent people will end up being buried because of him! That is not brutal of me. It is brutal of Lord Huai!" the King said reasonably as he confronted Gu Chaoyan.

"The Jiang Family helped him? Do you have any evidence of that?" Gu Chaoyan interrogated.

She had never seen anyone so narrow-minded. General Jiang scolded him but still let his only daughter marry him and helped him take the throne. Even if General Jiang might have offended him once, he still made use of the Jiang Family after all, but now, he was trying to get rid of the Jiang Family completely.

The Jiang Family… was the Jiang Family still active right now? Couldn't he discover them even after so many years?

General Jiang was a man of justice. He never cultivated anyone in secret.

However, the King always believed that such people existed.

"Evidence? That is totally unnecessary for a thing like this." The King stared at Gu Chaoyan. "You can't be this unreasonable, can you, Phoenix Girl? Well, if you want me to drop this, the easiest thing you can do is to give the Golden Rolls to me, then I can leave all of them alone."

Gu Chaoyan sneered.

Even if she had the Golden Rolls, she would not show it to people like him.

"Impossible," Gu Chaoyan said straightforwardly.

"Okay then," the King said to the guards furiously, "Behead them now! I want to see how hard-heartened Lord Huai is!"

Gu Chaoyan squinted.

The King seemed very cheerful upon seeing the executors getting ready.

Hearing the order, the executors lifted their blades and were about to drop it…

Everyone was staring at the blade, and the prisoners were all cursing the Jiang Family loudly.

Everyone closed their eyes as the blade was coming down.

Then… the sound of blades dropping on the ground arose.

What was going on?

While everyone was confused, chaos arose at the gate, then came the sound of blades colliding with each other. Two groups of people were fighting against each other, with one being the imperial army and the other hidden guards from the Shadow Door.

"They are from the Shadow Door! What are they doing here?!" The King shouted unhappily.
