My Dragon

Chapter 65

Chapter 65: Jar of Vinegar

Just after seven o’clock, the little dragons went to bed on time. Nan HuaiLin took a quick shower, cleaned himself up from head to toe, looked at the time and hastily called a car on his phone.

Lancelot was watching TV in the living room when he saw Nan HuaiLin coming down the stairs and whistled with a smile, “If I were Fei Cheng, I’d hide you from everyone, you’re too attractive.”

Nan HuaiLin smiled shyly, “You’re exaggerating.”

Lancelot covered his eyes, “Don’t laugh, my eyes are dizzy.”

Nan HuaiLin said, “I’m going now, bye.”

Lancelot replied, “Have fun, bye.”

Nan HuaiLin stood at the door and waited two minutes for the cab to arrive. Although there were several cars parked in the garage, Nan HuaiLin didn’t have a driver’s license and didn’t know how to drive. After a while in traffic, Nan HuaiLin arrived at the place at almost nine o’clock.

Just after he got off the cab, he saw Fei Cheng standing at the top of the stairs waving at him, surrounded by bright neon lights and a gorgeous fountain behind him, standing there in a suit, handsome as a god, making his heart flutter.

Nan HuaiLin walked up the steps, as Fei Cheng walked down slowly, and the two met on the middle platform.

Fei Cheng gazed at Nan HuaiLin’s face, a gentle smile flooded his eyes, “My wife is the best looking in the world.”

Nan HuaiLin tilted his head and smiled, “You’re handsome too.”

Fei Cheng came closer, “I want to kiss you so much.”

Nan HuaiLin smiled, “Please make sure to hold back.”

Nan HuaiLin’s body was like it was glowing, attracting the attention of almost everyone around him, like a flashing light. If not for the security guards, the reporters would have pounced on them. The two walked side by side up the stairs, and the fans who were blocked by the security guards shouted Nan HuaiLin’s name enthusiastically. He smiled and waved at them, and the fans burst into excited screams.

After entering the hotel, he took the elevator to the top floor ballroom.

As soon as the elevator door closed, Fei Cheng couldn’t hold back any longer and pressed Nan HuaiLin to the armrest for a dominant kiss.

“Uh!” Nan HuaiLin pushed him, “There’s surveillance!”

“Doesn’t matter,” Fei Cheng said vaguely while protecting the back of his head from the kiss, “I can’t help myself.”

Nan HuaiLin had to crane his neck to cooperate with him, hands spontaneously around his waist, nervously clutching his clothes. After kissing tenderly and lingeringly for a while, Fei Cheng glanced at the floor number out of the corner of his eyes, raised his head slightly and said in a gloomy tone, “I regret letting you come to the reception, I don’t want others to see you.”

Nan HuaiLin remembered what Lancelot said before he left the door and couldn’t help but smile. He raised his hand and straightened the strands of hair on Fei Cheng’s forehead, “Mr. Fei, this is a dangerous thought.”

Fei Cheng looked down and pecked his moist lips, smiled and asked, “Are you afraid?”

Nan HuaiLin said, “I’m not afraid to love you.”

Fei Cheng laughed, “You’re so cute.”

“Ding!” When the elevator reached the top floor, Fei Cheng helped Nan HuaiLin fix his wrinkled clothes and wanted to take his hand and walk out, but gritted his teeth and held back.

The ballroom was very large, but still crowded. Fei Cheng was careful to protect Nan HuaiLin from others greeting him as he walked inside.

“Go say hello to my brother first,” Fei Cheng said, “and then you’ll be on your own.”

It was only when they reached the huge floor-to-ceiling windows that they saw Fei Zheng and Ruan Xin, whom they hadn’t seen in a long time.

Even in such a lively environment, Fei Zheng still exuded an icy aura around his body, giving himself a small piece of clean territory, while Ruan Xin was standing quietly beside him, staring out the window at the night scene.

“Brother.” Fei Cheng called out first.

Nan HuaiLin originally wanted to call “Mr. Fei”, but suddenly remembered that Fei Zheng had said that he should follow Fei Cheng and call him “brother”, so he called out “brother” in a very rusty way.

Fei Zheng nodded indifferently and didn’t say anything.

Ruan Xin, however, froze for a moment and looked at Nan HuaiLin with slight surprise.

Nan HuaiLin smiled at him, “Assistant Ruan, long time no see.”

Ruan Xin quickly returned to his normal self with an appropriate smile, “Long time no see, I heard you got the lead role in the new Netflix series, congratulations.”

Nan HuaiLin smiled and said, “Thank you.”

Fei Zheng looked at Ruan Xin with a slight inclination of his head, “Go get a glass of champagne.”

Ruan Xin nodded, and left.

Fei Zheng looks at Nan HuaiLin, “How is your health?”

Nan HuaiLin said, “Nothing unusual lately.”

Fei Zheng nodded.

Nan HuaiLin said, “I’m more worried about Dragon 5 now, won’t it really be a problem if it never hatches?”

Fei Zheng was silent for two seconds, “I’ll go over and take a look after the reception.”

Nan HuaiLin thought exactly the same thing, he answered “yes” and said, “I ran into Mr. Lowden when I went to MWK for the audition. He asked me to say hello to you on his behalf.”

Fei Zheng nodded, “Got it.”

Nan HuaiLin didn’t know what else to say, so he stood awkwardly for a little while, turned his head to look at Fei Cheng, who saw right through him, who then raised his hand and touched his face, saying with a smile, “Go play.”

Nan HuaiLin, like a child who had been allowed to go out to play after doing his homework, happily walked away and searched the banquet hall for a while before finally finding He DuanYang, and quickly walked towards him.

Nan HuaiLin tapped He DuanYang’s shoulder from behind, “Hey!”

He DuanYang turned his head to see it was him, froze for two seconds, and exclaimed, “Fuck!”

Nan HuaiLin raised his eyebrows, “It’s been a long time, and that’s your reaction?”

He DuanYang stared at his face and said, “How come you’ve become so good-looking? I’m a straight man who’s almost bent by you.”

“Don’t,” Nan HuaiLin was amused by him, “I can’t afford to be responsible for that.”

He DuanYang smiled, “Is it fun to be married?”

Nan HuaiLin nodded, “Especially fun.”

He DuanYang lowered his voice, “You haven’t told me who your husband is yet.”

Nan HuaiLin said with a smile, “Keeping it a secret for now.”

He DuanYang then “chattered”, “Now the hottest topic in the whole entertainment circle is who you’re married to. There must be a group of paparazzi waiting to pick your skin, it’s estimated that in a short time you will be picked clean.”

Nan HuaiLin said, “Let them, I’m not afraid.”

He DuanYang stared at him for a while and said, “I really admire you. You just became popular and you dare to announce your marriage, who gave you the courage?”

Nan HuaiLin whispered, “Of course my husband gave me the courage.”

He DuanYang almost didn’t laugh out loud, “Fuck, I’m convinced.”

The two of them went on to talk about filming for a while.

He DuanYang took advantage of Nan HuaiLin’s popularity during the airing of Swimming Beyond My Life, but it wasn’t enough for him to get quality follow-up resources, and although he’s been filming during this period, his prospects weren’t too optimistic.

As they were talking, Nan HuaiLin saw Director Luo Ke and Shen Chong standing not far away chatting, so he took He DuanYang over to greet them.

“Director Luo Ke, Brother Chong, long time no see.” Nan HuaiLin said with a smile.

Shen Chong’s eyes went straight when he saw Nan HuaiLin, Luo Ke touched him with his elbow before he came back to his senses, he then smiled awkwardly and said, “It’s been a long time indeed.”

Nan HuaiLin looked at Luo Ke, “What is Director Luo busy with these days?”

Luo Ke said, “I’m preparing a new drama.”

“What’s the subject matter?” Nan HuaiLin asked, seemingly interested.

“A spy drama.” Luo Ke said.

Nan HuaiLin took He DuanYang’s shoulder and said with a smile, “I would like to recommend my friend to you.”

He DuanYang promptly introduced himself, “Hello director Luo, my name is He DuanYang, nice to meet you.”

Luo Ke said, “I know you, you acted in a web drama with Xiao Nan, right?”

He DuanYang nodded, “Yes.”

Luo Ke looked him up and down for a moment, “Nice body, it must look good in a military uniform. I’ll give you a phone number, just have your agent contact me directly tomorrow.”

“Okay.” He DuanYang restrained his joy and hurriedly took out his phone to save his number.

Shen Chong stood idly by with a glass of wine, his eyes drifting towards Nan HuaiLin from time to time, lingering for a few seconds and then moving away. Nan HuaiLin didn’t notice, because he was staring at Fei Cheng standing not far away.

Fei Cheng’s face was cold and expressionless with a boy standing in front of him. Nan HuaiLin didn’t know him, he looked very young, just 18 or 19 years old, and was very good-looking. He was excitedly saying something to Fei Cheng.

Nan HuaiLin chatted with Luo Ke for a couple of minutes and walked straight towards Fei Cheng. When Fei Cheng saw him, a big smile suddenly broke out on his originally cold face.

The smile was so powerful that the boy opposite froze, and the adoration in his eyes was so strong that he couldn’t hide it.

Nan HuaiLin walked next to Fei Cheng, took a look at the boy across the table, and his eyes fell on the cup in Fei Cheng’s hand, “What are you drinking?”

Fei Cheng said, “Rum.”

“It’s a nice color,” Nan HuaiLin said, “I’ll try it.”

Fei Cheng handed him the glass and tried to feed him, but Nan HuaiLin dodged it, “Give it to me, I’ll drink it myself.”

Nan HuaiLin took a small sip from the glass and his eyes lit up, “It’s sweet.”

Fei Cheng took the glass back, “You can’t drink the sweet ones, you’re too weak. You’ll get drunk and mess me up.”

Nan HuaiLin tsked, turned his head, and saw that the boy had disappeared.

“Hey, where is he?” Nan HuaiLin looked around.

“Gone.” Fei Cheng looked at him with a playful face and a small smile at the corner of his mouth.

“Who was he?” Nan HuaiLin asked, “I haven’t seen him before.”

“The company’s newest signee,” Fei Cheng said, “just a freshman, quite promising.”

Nan HuaiLin commented, “Oh,” then stopped talking.

Fei Cheng chuckled, “What? Jealous?”

Nan HuaiLin looked to the side and muttered, “I’m not jealous.”

Fei Cheng put away his smile, “But I am jealous.”

“Huh?” Nan HuaiLin looked up at him.

“Let’s go home,” Fei Cheng said, “I can’t bear to see you here any more.”

Nan HuaiLin froze, “But I’ve only been here for ten minutes…”

Fei Cheng said, “I shouldn’t have let you come.”

Nan HuaiLin laughed, “Okay, let’s go home. There’s really no point in staying here.”

Fei Cheng said, “Wait, I’ll go get my brother.”

Fei Zheng had been drinking a little, so Ruan Xin drove him. Fei Cheng was just pretending with a glass of wine, but he didn’t drink a sip, and he was holding Nan HuaiLin’s hand with one hand on the steering wheel, and he couldn’t let go of it for a second.

Fei Cheng said, “The one named He Duanwu…”

“His name is Duan Yang,” Nan HuaiLin interrupted him, “what Duan Wu?”

“It means the same thing,” Fei Cheng said, “You’re not allowed to hook up with him in the future, you hear me?”

Nan HuaiLin laughed and said, “Yo, you’re still in the jar of vinegar?”

Fei Cheng gave a “hum”.

Nan HuaiLin raised his hand and kissed the back of Fei Cheng’s hand, “Muah.”

Fei Cheng then laughed.

Nan HuaiLin tilted his head to look at him, “Mr. Fei, are you a little too cozy?”

Fei Cheng looked at him askance, “Don’t try to be nice when you’re the one taking advantage.”

It was almost 10:30 when they arrived home. The lights were on in the living room, and Lancelot was still watching TV.

“You’re back.” When he saw Fei Zheng, his eyes lit up, and then he saw Ruan Xin behind Fei Zheng, the light in his eyes suddenly went out.

He stared at Ruan Xin for a few seconds, and then turned his head away, tears welling up without warning. He panicked for a moment, suddenly stood up and walked quickly into his room without looking back. Bang! The door slammed shut.
