Chapter 2171.3: Law Enforcer

“Miss Feng, you’ve visited the capital for half a year now and have been in the Lu residence the entire time. You’ve yet to take a good look at Dusk City. Why don’t I show you around?” Lu Yun and Fengxian Wu were more like friends these days; the young lady lit up at his suggestion.

Although she came from a large faction that lived in a place a thousand times more prosperous than Dusk City, there was a different kind of joy to be found in the Darklake capital.

Lu Yun brought Fengxian Wu, Lan’er, and Lu Xuan out of the residence with him.

Lan’er and Fengxian Wu had befriended each other long ago. The two chattered happily as they strolled down the street, each holding two sticks of candied spirit fruits. They made for quite a pleasing sight.

“My dear young master Lu, you’ve finally come out! Your brothers have missed you terribly!” Two figures came into view—one tall, one short. The short one was beautiful, urbane, and debonair—his only disadvantage his height. The other one was nearly three meters tall with rippling muscles—just one of his arms was as thick as a regular person’s waist. His body was paired with a youthful looking face that appeared fourteen years old.

It was Zhao Chenguang and Yu Shuai.

“Eh? What happened to you, Brother Zhao? Oh right, I hear that someone beat you guys up?” Lu Yun couldn’t help but laugh when he saw the two.

Yu Shuai was well enough, but Zhao Chenguang’s face was mottled black and blue. He’d plainly suffered a thorough beating.

“Don’t mention it. When that so-called Sir Cloudexit couldn’t find you, he came for us because he heard we’re your friends. Our families didn’t dare offend the Nineheavens Pagoda and handed us over. Ai, it’s a long story!” Yu Shuai sighed mournfully.

“Cloudexit, again?” Fengxian Wu frowned slightly when she heard the name. Plainly, she had a very bad impression of the man. Zhao Chenguang and Yu Shuai shrank in on themselves.

“Miss Feng Wu, you must take a stand for us brothers! That Sir Cloudexit is an animal!” Zhao Chenguang sniffled.

Zhao Chenguang and Yu Shuai often called upon the Lu residence over the past month and were well acquainted with “Miss Feng Wu”. They didn’t have any designs on her because they thought she was Lu Yun’s woman. When stories spread of a stunning beauty worth nations easily beating seven nascent soul powerhouses, as well as the cocksure Sir Cloudexit, they immediately thought of Feng Wu.

“Has he not left the capital yet?” Fengxian Wu asked warningly. She’d nursed a grudge ever since he said he wanted to make her a sex slave.

No one bore a grudge like a woman.

“Sir Cloudexit is in the Beast Colosseum!” Yu Shuai quickly said.

“He seems to be enjoying life, what’s he doing there?” Lu Yun chuckled.

“You’d think he’s there to watch beasts fight. But no, he’s there to make people fight!” Zhao Chenguang spat out.

“Make people fight?” Lu Yun’s group paused, startled.

“Cloudexit’s captured a few qi refinement cultivators from the northern district and tied them together with metal chains. He’s gambling large sums at the Beast Colosseum, saying that whoever’s beast pet can beat his human pets wins ten paramount rank spirit stones!” Yu Shuai explained.

“What?!” Lu Yun’s anger flared. Although he was a good-for-nothing and spent his days being a pestilence upon others, he would never do something so out of line. Treating humans as pets? Forcing them to fight other beasts? That was a depraved loss of humanity!

“And? Are there people betting with him?” Fengxian Wu’s face darkened.

“Yes.” Yu Shuai’s chest heaved. “Not cultivators of Darklake, however. All foreigners. Chenguang spoke up against it and got completely beaten up.”

“Let’s go to the Beast Colosseum!” Fengxian Wu possessed a high sense of justice and couldn’t sit still after hearing of the ludicrous situation.

Meanwhile, Lu Yun sank into deep thought.

“Lu Xuan, take Lan’er home. Miss Feng and I will go to the Beast Colosseum,” Lu Yun said to his guard.

“Young master…” Lan’er was reluctant.

“Go home, things aren’t as simple as they seem. Lu Xuan, protect Lan’er well.”

“Yes, young master.” Lu Yun’s wish was Lu Xuan’s command and he hurried back to the residence with the maid.

“Things aren’t as simple?” Fengxian Wu blinked when she heard Lu Yun.

“Given my temper, I would definitely show myself after Chenguang suffered a beating. Heh heh heh, nice move, Cloudexit. I’d like to see what you’re up to.”

The Lu Yun of four months ago wouldn’t think much of treating qi refinement cultivators as human pets. He’d even find it novel and only pay attention to Zhao Chenguang being beaten.

“Yu Shuai, who’s there other than Sir Cloudexit?” Lu Yun asked.

“A few other noble sons, probably from Dark Orchid Empire. Their background is on par with that Cloudexit.” Yu Shuai paid much more attention to detail compared to Zhao Chenguang. Although the latter possessed a youthful face, he was ruled by the muscles on his body.

“Is there anyone from Darklake Empire with them?” Lu Yun pressed.

“Ouyang Shengtian!” Zhao Chenguang quickly responded. “Just him. Not only does he not stop them, but he goads them onward!”

……

The Beast Colosseum sat in the southwest of the capital and occupied a dozen kilometers. It rivaled the family complex of a large clan, but was the trade of an external faction as opposed to a local family business.

Its buildings were grand and magnificent. The four sacred beasts of azure dragon, white tiger, vermilion bird, and dusk tortoise stood in the four corners. It was divided into four major areas inside, likewise named after the four sacred beasts. Each of the areas was further split into seven sections and populated with numerous observation pavilions.

Noble scions loved coming to the Beast Colosseum for entertainment. They spent their days taming spirit beasts, bringing them to the colosseum, and taking wagers as they pitted the beasts against each other in fights.

“Hahaha! Brother Lin, your Fire-Eye Wolf King is a second rank spirit beast alright! It easily tore my human pet to pieces! Here you go, ten paramount rank spirit stones!”

“Brother Xu is indeed trustworthy!” the so-called Brother Lin laughed raucously when he received the stones.

Brother Xu was Sir Cloudexit. His surname was Xu and the characters of his name were chuyun, meaning “out cloud”. Hence, he was called Sir Cloudexit.

“Why are the cultivators of Dark City so weak? They’re all dead after an hour. Li Wei, go capture some foundation establishment cultivators. I can’t keep losing like this,” Cloudexit said to a guard next to him.

“Yes, young lord.” Li Wei was initial nascent soul. He responded to his orders and left the pavilion.

“I happen to lack a spirit beast—this Li Wei can be my human pet!” Lu Yun and the others naturally overheard the conversation in the azure dragon area. When they saw Li Wei walk out, Lu Yun approached him without a word.

“Petrify!” he shouted softly. The guard’s cultivation was completely confined after he slapped a talisman on the man.

“Yu Shuai, Chenguang, prepare some metal chains and tie this fellow up for me. Hahaha, so human pets are in fashion now! I want to join in the fun!” Lu Yun’s arrogant glee echoed through the area.

“Lu Yun!” Cloudexit jumped up like a cat whose tail had been stepped on and he rushed out of the pavilion.

……

Yu Shuai and Zhao Chenguang looked at each other, both swallowing hard in unison. They hadn’t even gotten a clear look at how Lu Yun had subdued Li Wei. This was a nascent soul cultivator, a preeminent existence in Darklake Empire!

They subconsciously looked at Fengxian Wu, relaxing somewhat when they confirmed her presence.

“Aha, so it’s Sir Cloudexit! It’s only been a few days, but your hair is looking ever fuller!” Lu Yun burst into laughter when he saw Cloudexit’s head. He’d burned Cloudexit bald with several hundred talismans when they fought. The young lord had only managed to grow a thin layer of hair after a period of time.

The young masters next to Cloudexit couldn’t help but frown when they saw Lu Yun. They were all in their twenties, but all golden core cultivators. That would make them incredible geniuses in Darklake. However, being from a different level of cultivation empire, golden core at twenty-some years old was a common occurrence to them.

“You are Lu Yun?” The Lin surnamed young master tilted his chin upward and looked down at Lu Yun. “I can make the call and show you mercy if you release Guard Li.”

“Heh heh heh heh heh…” Lu Yun chortled. “Aren’t you interesting. This nascent soul cultivator is my new human pet. I’m about to show my dominance in the Beast Colosseum and earn some spirit stones to spend. If I release him just because you say so, won’t that be an incredible loss of face for me?”

“Who do you think you are, Lu Yun?!” Cloudexit’s eyes spat fire and he only just managed to keep himself under control when he saw Fengxian Wu by Lu Yun’s side. “You’re just someone who likes to hide behind a woman!”

Cloudexit and his friends were convinced that it’d been Fengxian Wu who took down Li Wei.
