The crowds were stunned.

Most of the reporters had discussed among themselves the numerous guesses they had made as to what crime the old man had committed, but the closest they got was to assume it was muder.

However, the crime laid out before them was beyond their craziest suspicions.

None of them had expected to uncover a plot that changed the course of history. Most of them here weren't even fit to ask questions about this big a matter.

They had all thought that this would simply be some scandal that would taint the rich and powerful of the country. Not something to this extent.

"If I recall." Veronica was suddenly next to her husband, no one had even noticed her move since they were so blindsided by the news. "My father and brother taught me that you all thrived on news like this?"

She placed her hand on her waist and raised an eyebrow.

The Abads never let it out that Ram was in fact adopted. It was a secret that they planned to keep till the grave and something that didn't really bother the siblings.

Both Veronica and Ram felt that if the public knew they would end up creating a mountain of a molehill.

The fact that Ram was adopted did not bother Veronica, she had no plans of working for the family company. In fact she was perfectly happy with how things stood.

Soon after Veronica had spoken, the members of the media slowly processed what Miguel had announced and were starting to buzz with questions.

"One thing that we know you will be asking is who else was involved with this crime." Miguel said as he looked at the reporters.

He and everyone else involved tried their best to think of all the questions the reporters might ask as soon as they heard the truth. So Miguel had come prepared, willing to share answers before they were even asked.

"Right now, I cannot give you the names of the people involved, but their names have already been handed to the police." Miguel announced.

"What if the police try to protect these people?" A reporter asked as his had shot up, trying to catch the doctor's attention.

"Then we release the list to the public." Miguel shrugged as if releasing the list was the only natural thing to do.

"I won't lie. We did not know about our grandfather's crime until recently." Miguel announced as he kept his head held high. "It was something that he had confessed to my sister, Nicole, and we advised him to confess to the crime."

"How long have you known?" Someone called out from the sea of people, not bothering to even raise their hand anymore.

"A few days." Miguel admitted. "We had given grandfather an ultimatum, either he confessed to the crime or we reported him."

"Would you really do that?" Another person asked.

Miguel slowly nodded, shocked that people would really think they would cover up a crime as grave as this.

"What he did was not some speeding or littering, it was not some victimless crime." Miguel announced. "From a young age our family has taught us to value the lives of others, that's why we are doctors. What greater crime to commit as a doctor than to take a life?"

The members of the media whispered among themselves as they processed Miguel's words.

What he said was true, taking a life after swearing to protect it at all costs was the gravest crime a doctor like the old man could commit.

"He may be our grandfather, but he hurt more people than he could have imagined." Miguel said. "He regrets it, yes. But, we do not believe he should be forgiven for those crimes because he feels sorry."

"Will he continue to have a stake in Saints Hospital?" A reporter asked, this time having the courtesy to raise his hand.

Miguel smiled as he appreciated the gesture.

"No, from this day forward our grandfather's share will be passed on to the eldest child of the managing generation." Miguel announced.

Everyone in the crowd assumed it was him, but they couldn't be further from the truth.

"Will your grandfather pay for his crimes or will you appeal for a shorter sentence?" A female reporter at the far end of the crowd shouted.

"My siblings and I believe that our grandfather must pay for his crimes as fairly as possible. We will not be requesting a shorter sentence, his crimes affected us all." Miguel announced, much to the surprise of the crowd.

There were two things that they were chattering about, the first being that they would not be pulling any stings to change the punishment. Something highly unusual for a family as well connected as the Chans.

They had at least expected the Chans to plead for house arrest, it was something that everyone could understand seeing that their grandfather was not young.

Another fact that had caught the media's attention was that Miguel had mentioned siblings, not just a sibling.

As far as everyone knew there were only two Chan siblings, Miguel and Nicole.

"It must be slip of the tongue." One reporter whispered loud enough for Ian to hear.

He couldn't help but grin, Miguel had rehearsed these answers multiple times, he would never slip up. This was something intentional on his part.

"He could have meant family." Another reporter whispered to her companion.

It seemed that they were willing to give Miguel a lot of space today.

"He wasn't wrong to say siblings." A familiar man stepped out in the open as he flashed a smile to the reporters.

Everyone was shocked to find the actor, Eric, walk up to Nicole and give her a hug.
