On the Wedding Night, Ms. Cui Realized

Cui Ti waited outside with the rabbit in her arms for about a quarter of an hour, and Bai Tang brought out an oiled paper umbrella in a very pretentious manner and said, "It's strange, why hasn't your husband come out yet?.”

The spring-summer weather was perfect, and the sun wasn't too hot. Cui Ti watched as Bai Tang shaded her with the umbrella, making her feel sheltered from the sun. The corner of Ruo’s mouth twitched at the sight of Bai Tang's pretentious behavior and answered, "Madam and Young Master love each other deeply, so it is reasonable to talk more."

Bai Tang responded with an "Oh", and she moved the umbrella with the tailed koi to completely cover Cui Ti's hair. Cui Ti couldn’t see her, but felt that the sun was covered, and shook her head with a smile: "I'm not hot, you can cover yourself."

"Young Master has out!" Shou exclaimed softly before Bai Tang could speak.

Pei Xuan walked towards Cui Ti with a captivating aura, her hair fluttering in the gentle breeze, and Cui Ti’s heart skipped a beat as she saw her husband.

"Wife."

"Husband."

However, Pei Xuan appeared to be somewhat preoccupied, lost in thought about the lies that Niang had concocted. Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and she quickly grabbed the oiled paper umbrella from Baitang's hand and suggested, "Shall we walk around and talk?.”

Cui Ti rarely disobeyed her words, and the two of them walked in the huge back garden of the Prime Minister's Mansion with their own thoughts. The gentle breeze was just right, carrying with it a refreshing scent of flowers that permeated the air.

If Pei Xuan were a real man, she would have been unable to face her wife, who knew about her "hidden disease”.

But she is a woman, and a very introverted and meticulous woman to add. Even if her mother forced her to identify as a "man", she still stood up straight and tried not to let her embarrassment show in her expression, "The wedding leave is over, and I must go back to the Imperial Academy tomorrow.”

Pei Xuan felt guilty of not being able to stay with Cui Ti every day after marriage.

Even though she was a woman, she was still Cui Ti's "husband." It would only be after they consummate that Cui Ti could be finally with her and as long as she lived, no one could touch her.

Ever since she came out of that door, Pei Xuan had been acting strange and Cui Ti secretly guessed what her mother-in-law was talking to her.

But, she still secretly wondered what else her mother-in-law could have said to make Pei Xuan, who was always calm and composed, feel so impetuous.

"Today, I’ll finish my work as fast as I can and we can indulge then.”

Cui Ti's fingertips trembled: "Indulgence?.”

Pei Xuan raised her eyebrows and said with a smile, "You'll find out later."

Cui Ti expected to wait until nightfall for the answer, making her nervous and absent-minded throughout the day. 

But at noon, a strong aroma wafted towards her, and a large bowl of spicy rabbit head was presented before Cui Ti, and Pei Xuan’s eyes lit up, as she tilted her head remarking, “This is what I mean by indulgence.”

Cui Ti's lips parted slightly, and she replied with an "oh" in disbelief, and when she got the exact answer from Pei Xuan, her prior feelings which made her feel like she was floating in the clouds now turned into a distraughtly weather.

She lowered her head in silence, and slowly became angry from embarrassment, clutching the corner of her clothes, drooping her eyes and saying nothing.

"Wife?.” Pei Xuan's voice was light, but she sounded excited.

Cui Ti didn't want to disappoint her and she swallowed her sullen breath, and replied in a low voice, "Mhm?.”

"Wife, are you unhappy?.”

"No…I'm very happy."

In an effort to prove her happiness, Cui Ti looked up and smiled. 

Pei Xuan nodded before feeling the book in her pocket to be tormenting her heart again. 

She was feeling extremely guilty, and her eyes drifted to the delicious spicy rabbit head.

"Wife, shall we eat together?.”

"What is there to eat?."

"Spicy rabbit head, it’s delicious."

Pei Xuan enthusiastically described to Cui Ti how delicious rabbit head is, but then turned to see the white small rabbit nestling in Cui Ti’s leg.

Her eyes sank slightly, and she grabbed the rabbit, walked a bit further and handed it to Ruo, then cleaned her hands carefully, and returned to the dining table.

Seeing this, Bai Tang wanted to laugh, ‘Young Pei is so cruel, how could he eat rabbit head in front of his fellow?.’

"Wife?.”

Cui Ti found herself distracted once more, her eyes flashing with embarrassment. She scolded herself inwardly, chiding herself not to let her thoughts wander and to focus her attention solely on Pei Xuan. 

Pei Xuan's intense gaze and eagerness to share something made her feel as if she was trying to win her favor in a clumsy way. 

This was not the first time, as in her past life, Pei Xuan would often show up to apologize after making her cry, and on two occasions, she presented her with a spicy rabbit head as a peace offering.

Cui Ti had a feeling that Pei Xuan might have done something wrong to her or had some guilty intention towards her.

Therefore, a rabbit was sacrificed in advance.

Pei Xuan’s pair of skillful hands which were able to write a beautiful and well-written composition, were now used to tear apart the delicacies on the table, but Cui Ti saw that the white and slender hands that held the rabbit's teeth was pressured with strength, and the upper and lower jaw bones were broken in half as she presented it to her, "Please eat first."

Pei Xuan loved rabbit head with little meat, and Cui Ti couldn’t handle it well. One is that she finds it troublesome, and the other is that she likes rabbits. Besides, Pei Xuan herself loves to eat, but she only allows herself to indulge rabbit head once a month.

Seeing Cui Ti frozen, Pei Xuan gradually came to her senses, feeling suddenly lost in her heart—what she likes, maybe her wife doesn't like it.

"You, will you feed me~?,” Seeing Pei Xuan’s dispirited expression, Cui Ti asked cutely.

Despite feeling indulged and helpless in her heart, Cui Ti knew from her past experiences that if Pei Xuan truly enjoyed someone’s company, she would eat spicy rabbit head with them.

Cui Ti also knew that this was the most fascinating and efficient way to reach the core of  Pei Xuan's heart.
