Ch6 - Did the teacher assign homework?

After half a month

The weather in September was still very hot. The sunlight fell on the ground, and the summer cicadas cried every once in a while. Early in the morning, an old man went out and walked slowly as he walked the dog in the neighborhood community, while at Jian Mei’s house, Shen Meina was incessantly talking.

“Is the water bottle ready?”

“The medicine box must be in your pocket.”

“As for the mask, I packed it in your school bag. You should wear it where there are many people.”

“And also……”

His mother was endlessly talking. Actually, he had heard these words many times. He washed up and dressed neatly in his school uniform, then he turned around helplessly with his school bag on his back, “Mom, I know.”

Father Jian, who came out of the cloakroom, saw that his wife might give a tongue-lashing, timely stopped her: “Alright, alright, Meimei is going to school, not going to war. Besides, there are teachers in the school. Stop nagging.”

“What do you know?”

Shen Meina glared at her husband.

She checked the things again, “I have to tell the teacher that Jian Mei can’t participate in intense sports in school, and……”

Father Jian looked at his wife who was still unable to relax, and smiled helplessly. He glanced at his son standing next to him, shrugged and lowered his voice, “Don’t mind it, she’s just too nervous.”

Jian Mei’s eyes and brows were bent, it was obvious that he didn’t mind it. Rather, he got closer to his father and said with a clear voice, “I know.”

The father and son looked at each other and smiled.

On the first day of school in September, especially the roads leading to the school district are crowded. Two days ago, there was a sudden storm and the temperature dropped. At the school gate, there was a crowd of people. If someone looked up, they would see people everywhere. The parents of students were leading the children, and it was hot and noisy, it was lively as a market.

Shen Meina took Jian Mei to the second floor and found the classroom, “You go to find a seat first, and I’ll say hello to your head teacher.”

Several people came inside the classroom, and the sound of exchanges in twos and threes came from inside from time to time.

Jian Mei stood at the door, he was a bit hesitant and timid. He hadn’t been to school for several years, and when he reached the place, he was scared.

Father Jian looked in his eyes, “Let’s go together. Meimei, you’re in your second year this year and a transferee. Let’s meet the head teacher first to understand the situation.”

Shen Meina thought it was reasonable, “That’s good.”

At the moment when it was almost over, Shen Meina wanted to accompany Jian Mei to the classroom but was stopped.

The head teacher said, “Mrs. Shen, I’ll just take the child with me. Since you sent your child to school and I’m his head teacher, I will naturally take good care of him. Once he comes here, he will be separated from his parents and learn to be independent. Besides… Your identity is not suitable for too many people. I’m afraid it will cause unnecessary trouble.”

Shen Meina hesitated for a moment. She had a very beautiful appearance, even if exposed in close range, her skin could be bragged about. Especially, her appearance was still that kind of youth that didn’t show her age. She was very popular when she was young. Now she was already over 40 years old, but she still looked like a young woman. She was called an immortal goddess by the entertainment circle, and was also the youth of many people.

Father Jian patted his wife on the shoulder, “It’s alright, don’t worry. You can rest assured and leave the rest to the teacher.”

Shen Meina glanced at Jian Mei, who was standing next to the teacher. They had been communicating for more than an hour, and the child was cleverly waiting and wasn’t noisy. At this moment, he might have noticed her line of sight, and Jian Mei raised his face and his big round eyes looked at her for a moment, and he showed a smile, “Mom, go back. I’ll be fine with the teacher.”

Such a pure smile, it seemed to wash away the worries of the people.

Shen Meina finally let her heart down, but her eyes turned red. She nodded casually, and finally left the office and went back with her husband.

Only Jian Mei and the teacher were left in the office.

Teacher Wang said, “Come with me.”

The school building was a bit complicated. At this time, the bell was already ringing, and because it was the second year of junior high school, all the students in each classroom had been divided into classes for a long time, and each classroom was full of students. As they crossed the stairs to the classroom, Teacher Wang stopped, bowed her head and said, “Very nervous?”

The youth with a school bag next to her was nervous, but when he was asked by the teacher, he quickly shook his head and whispered, “Not nervous.”

“Take a deep breath and don’t be nervous.” Teacher Wang’s voice was always serious, but it was very detailed in many places, “When you comforted your mother in the office, I thought you wouldn’t be nervous.”

Jian Mei said softly, “If I show nervousness, my mother will be even more nervous.”

Miss Wang raised her eyes in surprise. The child looked very cheerful and didn’t show any discomfort when his parents were there. She thought he had a strong adaptability, but she didn’t expect that he was acting calm. When she thought about it, it was actually reasonable. It was said that he had been ill by accident since primary school, and had spent these years in the hospital. Even if he was lively, it was already a long time ago since he had been in contact with a group of people and naturally, he would be timid.

As she thought of this, Teacher Wang rarely became gentle, “You don’t have to be nervous. Come in with me.”

Jian Mei cleverly responded.

The moment the classroom door was pushed open, the originally noisy class suddenly quieted down. The fifty or sixty people in the class looked over, giving people an invisible pressure.

Teacher Wang led the person in, “You have a new classmate in our class this semester. I hope you can get along well.”

Jian Mei stood at the desk and was looked at by so many people. He bowed down, and spoke cautiously, “Hello, I’m Jian Mei.”

While Jian Mei was nervously observing the students below, the students below were also looking at him. The youth in a small black suit had a clear and powerful voice on the platform . The lights in the classroom fell on him, his skin was pale and beautiful, and his big round eyes were moist like a rabbit and he was delicate like a doll.

Teacher Wang said, “Jian Mei, you sit in the last row first, and then I’ll adjust your position.”

Jian Mei had no opinion on this, “Okay.”

Although Teacher Wang didn’t enthusiastically emphasize Jian Mei’s body in the class, the students had many small news channels. The transfer students hadn’t arrived yet, but the news about Jian Mei’s body had already spread. Many people knew that a student had been hospitalized before and had the same terrible disease like cancer. Therefore, they were very curious about this person.

Such curiosity arrived but failed to end after the first class. After the bell rang, the students began to move freely, and many children gathered in twos and threes and couldn’t stop peering at the last row.

“Hello”

A student came first to say hello.

Jian Mei raised his head and met a little girl’s face. Although he was surprised, he was still very polite, “Hello.”

The little girl breathed a sigh of relief and smiled, “My name is Huang Jiajia. I’m sitting in front of you.”

“I know.” Jian Mei nodded, “I saw it during class.”

Because one person took the lead, other people who were also curious had the courage to come together. After a brief self introduction, they began to gossip:

“Where did you transfer from?”

“I heard you were ill, real or fake?”

“Have you ever had an operation?”

“You look very healthy. Are you completely better?”

“En……” Jian Mei’s hand on the table unconsciously curled up, but he still tried to maintain a smile, “I didn’t get sick before. Now it can’t be considered completely healed. The doctor said to observe for several years and have a regular re-examination.”

“Can you shave your head?”

“Is your hair a wig?”

“Do you study all by yourself…”

His seat was like a circus surrounded by people. All kinds of questions were thrown out. Although it had no malice, but it made people feel overwhelmed. Jian Mei’s hands on the table unconsciously clenched, and he helplessly wanted to escape. Before he came to school, he thought it might be difficult to make friends in school, but he didn’t expect it to be really difficult…

……

At night

Jian Mei was very tired after the first day of school. After he had dinner and took a bath, he got ready to do his homework. While blowing his hair, he took out his mobile phone from the drawer and habitually opened WeChat. The main reason was that the mobile phone had few apps in total, so he subconsciously opened WeChat first, then he skillfully clicked Lu Xingwang’s blank avatar and sent him a message:

“Are you there?”

He didn’t expect for Lu Xingwang to return a message. He just took it as a small place to express his feelings and continued typing, “I started school today, but I’m not so happy.”

“I don’t know why I can’t seem to blend in with my classmates.”

“In fact, I also want to make friends, but everyone was together when they were in the first year of junior high. It seems that they all have their own friends.”

“I seem to be a little monkey being visited.”

“Why is it so difficult to make friends…”

He finally said what he had been holding for a whole day. Jian Mei felt a lot better for no reason. He took a long sigh of relief and continued to blow his hair. When his hair was almost dry, he consciously took out his textbook to do his homework. He didn’t expect Lu Xingwang to reply, but the phone rang before he could write two questions. Jian Mei ran to the bed to get his mobile phone.

Lu Xingwang: [School started?]

Jian Mei’s eyes and eyebrows were bent unconsciously, “Yes!”

“Mhm.” Lu Xingwang responded, but then he asked a simple and unexpected question: [Did the teacher assign homework?”

A question mark slowly appeared on Jian Mei’s head.

He didn’t know why, but he cleverly replied, “It was assigned.”
