Only I Am A Reader

344 The True Scarlet Sky!

From the very moment the army of monsters jumped out of the cracks, no one could afford to care about the battle in the sky. Only those on the back could observe every now and then, but that didn't really matter for the Heavenly Demon.

Although the monster army was a blatant threat, it could never compare to the danger imposed by a Demon Lord. They were still just monsters like any others that possessed the authority of spatial invasion, the ability to open cracks to other worlds! However, not anyone received that authority just like that!

Only by destroying all competition could a monster claim the Demon Lord's throne. Once they became unrivaled, they would be bestowed the ability befitting of that title, bringing misery to countless worlds like locusts that consumed everything on their path.

Knowing that full well, the Heavenly Demon couldn't hold back anything. While he started up using his fists, it was time to use his own authority as a Guardian.

'I always found it laughable, but…'

The Scarlet Sky Technique was known for its unparalleled and tyrannical strength that didn't lose to any other Internal Energy Techniques. However, it had one unusual aspect that it was lacking in. It didn't possess a specific attribute, like the Namgungs' lightning or the Murongs' fire. It was just pure unaligned force.

Unlike the others, those who practiced the Scarlet Sky Technique didn't possess any type of martial arts that were easier to learn or apply depending on the attribute, but in reality, that could be considered an advantage as much as it is a disadvantage. At the very least, there were no restrictions on what one could learn!

Whether it was martial arts of opposite attributes or unusual ones, a Scarlet Sky Practitioner didn't need to look out for compatibility. Things weren't easier, but they were of equally average difficulty. However, that wasn't the true core of the Scarlet Sky Technique.

The Scarlet Sky Technique did possess an attribute, anti-monster amplification! As sinister as the technique seemed to be, it happened to be similar to the anti-demon techniques of the Shaolin. Of course, it was limited to otherworldly monsters.

Although it wasn't an absolute edge against monsters, the Heavenly Strength Society members were always a notch stronger when it came to monster hunting. Nevertheless, only one person could manifest its true meaning!

'It suddenly feels all worth it.'

The Heavenly Demon, only those who managed to awaken and become one with the Scarlet Sky, to become the world's Guardian. Cheon Ma had always found it funny the technique that he trained for his entire life was all for the sake of a day or two that may never come, but these thoughts vanished once the Demon Lord had appeared.

Guardian armaments! Only when facing the Demon Lord could the true Scarlet Sky manifest its superpowers.

All the Society's Martial Artists at the Peak Stage and above could create Qi weapons using Scarlet Sky Internal Energy, but only Cheon Ma could turn it into an actual object that didn't constantly consume his energy as long as his opponent remained in front of him.

Swoosh!

The sanguine Light flooded out of the Heavenly Demon's hand, forming into a large greatsword. Without hesitation, he started slashing up the dragon while using his strengthened scarlet wings to evade the Demon Lord's claws.

Roaaarrr!

The red dragon repeatedly tried to cast Dragon Fear. However, the ultimate anti-monster ability was none other than a universal 'cancel' ability. No matter what kind of special ability a monster possessed, Cheon Ma could just dispel it with a snap! He was simply the ultimate monster hunter!

"Useless!"

Unfortunately, the ability didn't apply when it came to inherent physical abilities like the dragon's Fire Breath. Since it was something that followed common sense and didn't unexplainably come out of nowhere, the Heavenly Demon had to either forcibly close the source or use his Internal Energy to block it off. After all, the bonus offense and defense effectiveness still worked against it.

Just as the battle progressed with casualties accumulating on both sides, the Demon Lord accumulated countless injuries in its body, having lost quite a number of scales. Still, that didn't seem to phase him in the least.

"See? To resist is to suffer. You are supposed to be guardians, but you are nothing more than a harmful tumor sticking to this world."

The Heavenly Demon wasn't affected either. The Scarlet Greatsword in his hand only had one goal, to claim the Demon Lord's head and…

Swish!

He Had succeeded in doing so!

"Long live the Society Leader!"

The dragon who was speaking so haughtily a moment ago was dropping to the ground as if gravity just regained its grasp on him. The Martial Artists on the ground moved away from the spot he was falling into and so did the monsters.

Thud!

The Demon Lord was both headless and motionless as it crashed into the ground, but the Heavenly Demon flew down in apprehension. It was true that he had been preparing himself for this his whole life, but things had gone far too smoothly.

Was this really the monster that dominated every other being in his home world? Even as a Profound Martial Artist that stood at the true peak of Murim, Cheon Ma found it unrealistic for the last boss to die so quickly.

It wasn't like he didn't trust his ability, rather it was because he trusted it that he felt this way. The apprehension that warned him of the Demon Lord's appearance had yet to disappear!

"I already told you, didn't I? This is futile."

The dead body remained motionless as it should be, but the same despairing voice resounded in the flat plains even though it no longer possessed a mouth to speak with!

All of the sudden, the center of the red dragon's stomach wiggled out as if it was about to explode! The Heavenly Demon didn't spare any time as he threw his greatsword at it. However…

"We are all but helpless pawns in the endless cycle of fate…"
