This was Ji Chen’ai’s  first time spending New Year with the Zhou family.

In the original home, Ji Chen’ai really disliked this holiday, because his grandparents did not regard him as a member of the Ji family. In their eyes, their only grandson was Ji Suming. Ji Chen’ai was merely an illegitimate child with no right to speak, born from a mistress.

Therefore, during the New Year celebration every year, not only did Ji Chen’ai have to face his grandparents’ coldness, but also the ridicule of Ji Zhongming’s relatives. In addition, Shen Shuya and her family have fallen out, so it was impossible to go back there for the celebration. Therefore, the New Year celebration was simply a yearly torment for him.

However, the atmosphere of the Zhou family during New Year was very good. Both parents and relatives took care of Zhou Yaoqin’s feelings. Wang Zhixiu always asked Ji Chen’ai how he would like to spend this year’s New Year celebration. If he wanted a quiet celebration, his family would celebrate by themselves.

Wang Zhixiu and her sisters had a good relationship. Ji Chen’ai doesn’t want to embarrass Wang Zhixiu because of him, so he said he had no preference.

Thinking of the condition her son’s leg was in, Wang Zhixiu set the venue for the New Year’s Eve dinner at her own home.

Wang Zhixiu’s sister, Wang Zhiping, was very grateful to Ji Chen’ai for Lu Yuanyuan’s matter. She brought some gifts to Ji Chen’ai when she came. According to her, if it wasn’t for Ji Chen’ai talking to Lu Yuanyuan, she couldn’t untie the knot in her heart. As a mother, she doesn’t know what to do.

During the New Year celebration, Zhou Leling, whom Ji Chen’ai met during his summer vacation, also came. Because of the last amusement park thief incident, Zhou Leling saw that Ji Chen’ai has changed considerably. She had never liked this cousin who looked very gloomy and irritable before, but after getting along with him, Zhou Leling changed her view of Ji Chen’ai.

The  New Year’s Eve dinner that Wang Zhixiu and several sisters made together was very sumptuous. On that evening, a large family ate while watching the New Year Gala. The atmosphere was very good. Ji Chen’ai was envious of such a family, therefore, he ate several bowls of rice.

When it was almost night, he received a phone call from Zhou Yaoyun.

When he picked up the phone, he heard Zhou Yaoyun on the other end sounding like he was short of breath, wishing him “Chen’ai, Happy New Year.”

Ji Chen’ai, looking at the fireworks outside and listening to the sound of firecrackers, revealed a slight smile, “Emm, Happy New Year.”

“Alas, I’m jealous of you. I don’t celebrate New Year, only Christmas.”

“So when are you coming back?” asked Ji Chen’ai. It had almost been four months since Zhou Yaoyun left.

“Emm…I still have quite a while left, take care of yourself,”

“I will, you too.”

Zhou Yaoyun chuckled, “Chen’ai, I’m so happy.”

The two of them talked some more before Wang Zhixiu came in, interrupting the call to ask Ji Chen’ai if he wanted to eat dumplings.

After hanging up the phone, Ji Chen’ai was pushed by Wang Zhixiu to scoop out a bowl of dumplings. He was holding a dumpling bowl and waiting for the countdown in front of the TV. All of the sudden, he was in a good mood.

What Wang Zhixiu and Zhou Yuming gave him was something his old family could not.

Zhou Leling privately asked Ji Chen’ai where Zhou Yaoyun had gone and whether he had returned to his biological parents. Ji Chen’ai said he didn’t know, and asked who were Zhou Yaoyun’s biological parents?

Zhou Leling looked at Ji Chen’ai strangely when she heard his question. She asked, “How come you don’t know who his parents are? At first…when Brother Yun wanted to leave, didn’t you stop him?”

Ji Chen’ai was stunned. He had no memory of that happening.

“His parents even want to pay for you to go abroad for leg treatment, and you actually refused them…” added Zhou Leling.

Ji Chen’ai constrained his surprised expression and said with a dry smile “It isn’t like that, I was young and not very sensible.”

“Anyways, that was all before, I like you now.” After the little girl said this, she felt a little embarrassed. After a dry cough, she said, “Well, don’t take to heart what I said casually.”

Ji Chen’ai smiled faintly. He wanted to ask Xiao Qi, how many memories have been left locked up? As for now, it seems like all the important memories of Zhou Yaoqin had been blocked.

Xiao Qi, however, was very unconcerned by Ji Chen’ai’s entanglement, it said, “Even if you unlock all the memories, what’s the point? Can you do anything about it? Let the past go. In fact, I left you a part of the memory, so that you don’t get caught. I don’t want you to know what the original Zhou Yaoqin did.”

Facing Xiao Qi’s answer, Ji Chen’ai couldn’t say anything.  Since he could not drag Xiao Qi out and beat him, he could only accept the result reluctantly. In the end, he still didn’t discover who Zhou Yaoyun’s parents were.

After New Year’s Eve, the first day of the New Year arrived. Wang Zhixiu and Zhou Yumian are going to go to Zhou Yaoqin’s grandparents’ grave. Since Ji Chen’ai’s legs are inconvenient, he can only stay at home.

That morning, Wang Zhixiu told Ji Chenai to take care of the house in her absence and went out with Zhou Yumian early in the morning.

After my parents left, there was no one at home. This is a good time for Ji Chen’ai to practice walking. After using ‘Primary Healing’ he could already walk two steps simply. Although he was still shaky, he still stood up.  When Ji Chen’ai walked around by holding the wall, his mood was extremely complicated. From the moment he was told he would be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life, he never imagined he would be able to stand up again and walk around like today.

Xiao Qi told Ji Chen’ai that as long as his energy level reached Level 2, he could walk without obstacles. Moreover, everything is difficult at the beginning. At first, there were only a few things that were easy to do to earn energy. Now that he had a Level 1 skill in his hand, it was naturally much easier. He can earn a lot of energy value as long as he finds a post with negative energy exceeding the standard, and then directly uses the ‘The Slander’s Salvation’ on it.

At the time Ji Chen’ai started feeling things were easy for him, the online navy was miserable. The most miserable one was an entertainer who hired a large group of online navy to spread bad rumors of another competitor.

Ji Chen’ai was free and bored, so he browsed a gossip website. After hearing the prompt from Xiao Qi saying that the negative energy exceeded the standard, he directly used his skills in that post. As a result, the online navy who’s sitting at the other end of the computer could not control themselves at all and happily exposed who hired them.

The entertainer who employed the online navy had a bad reputation for a while.

Since this happened too frequently, it started to arouse suspicion. However, the direction of suspicion is to suspect that someone deliberately makes trouble in the navy, becomes a spy or something like that.

Ji Chen’ai gladly let everyone speculate and continue to watch happily from the side. Xiao Qi’s existence was too magical, few people would even begin to think of it as a possibility.

Xiao Qi didn’t worry at all about everyone’s speculation, it stated bluntly, “When you reach Level 2, there will be a hiding function in the system. At that time, even if someone suspects you, it doesn’t matter.”

Listening to Xiao Qi, Ji Chen’ai put down some of his worries. However the thing he worried most about was how to see the points in the Level 2 positive system. In recent days, he earned about 3000 energy values by using the rumour-spreading posts. But the problem was those points weren’t enough to let him unlock viewing permission for the amount of Level 2 positive energy he needed.

After the New Year celebration, Zhou Yaoyun got busier and had less time to send emails to Ji Chen’ai, he only managed to send an email once a week. The content of the emails were mostly about inconsequential matters, leading to the fact that Ji Chen’ai still hadn’t been able to figure out what Zhou Yaoyun was actually doing.

When the month of February [T/N] came to an end, he received an email from Zhou Yaoyun, along with a few photos, with the subject line: Something good has happened.

[T/N]: Lunar New Year or Spring Festival is usually in January or February,  based on the lunar/solar calendar. The date of the holiday varies from late January to mid-February.

Ji Chen’ai clicked on his email and he saw several pictures of men inside. When he looked at it, he realized that the owner of the photo was his brother Ji Suming – that was not the most important thing, the most important thing was Ji Suming kissing a man. The picture was clearly taken in secret. Zhou Yaoyun also added a sentence below the photo: I heard that your brother and your father fell out.

Ji Chen’ai, “…” You said ‘I heard’, turns out you can hear from pictures huh.

At the end of Zhou Yaoyun’s email, he sincerely expressed that these pictures were all ‘accidentally’ taken by him but were no longer useful. Ji Suming came out with Ji Mingzhong in a crisp manner as early as the second month after Ji Chen’ai died.

With Ji Mingzhong’s character, when he heard that Ji Suming loved men, he was so angry he almost vomited blood. He beat Ji Suming and told him to get out of the Ji family if he wanted to continue being with a man.

In the face of Ji Mingzhong’s warning, Ji Suming calmly moved out of the house. He had no feelings for Ji Mingzhong at all. When his mother died, Ji Mingzhong was fooling around outside. His father even let his mistress move into the house within less than a year of his mother’s passing.

In fact, Ji Suming did not have much ill feelings towards his younger brother, Ji Chen’ai. The person he hates most in this family is his father, Ji Mingzhong.

Ji Chen’ai didn’t feel much when reading the email. Now, when thinking about his previous life, everything felt so vague. Looking at the email, he wasn’t touched or moved. Instead, he felt as if it were a lifetime ago.

Zhou Yaoyun added a few sentences at the end of his email, saying that he would continue to “inquire” about Ji’s family. If Ji Chen’ai wants to know… He can just ask him directly.

Thinking of Zhou Yaoyun’s trouble and effort, Ji Chen’ai didn’t know what to say.

After thinking for a while, he replied: No need to pay attention to them. I don’t care about whatever happens there.

After answering the email, Ji Chen’ai looked at the photos again. Just when he was about to delete the email, he suddenly felt that the man kissing with Ji Suming looked familiar. When Ji Chen’ai seriously recalled it, he remembered that he had met him at the cafe on Zhou Yaoyun’s birthday, holding the big dog.

So now the question was, is Ji Suming top or bottom… Why did he feel somewhat curious about this?

Ji Chen’ai silently moved the mouse away from the delete button.
