Primordial Dimensions

Chapter 339 - Devil's Brood

He was simply staring in front of him, ignoring everything else as he bit his lower lip.

'That is definitely not a common curse...but that is not a demonification ritual either…'

Shane was trying to make sense of what he was witnessing but the more he saw, the less logical it seemed to be.

In the end, he had to give up for now. Thus, he waited for the old Ara, who he assumed to be some sort of bishop to finish what he had started.

Only 10 minutes had passed before the old man was done as he turned in the direction where the guard, Shane, and Ilya were standing.

The guard kneeled down within an instant and both Shane and Ilya bowed towards the old man.

After the Ara youngling's runes and eye color returned to their former color, the old Ara approached them with slow, yet steady steps.

It was only then that Shane and Ilya realised the old man's strength!

'How is that possible? He can't be at the Expert stage!! Has that old man already liquefied his mana?...That can't be it! This is impossible…'

Even though dungeons were separate entities from Primordial Dimensions, when they appeared in a dimension, they had to obey the system's rules and restrictions!

Because of that, there shouldn't be an existence that had liquefied their mana inside the fluare tower dungeon!

It was illogical, but based on the old man's mana fluctuations, Shane could tell that even the combined forces of the bloodlust thunder wolf and golden centipede king were not enough to face him.

Gulping down his saliva, the [Hunter's mind] passive skill was the last resort for Shane in order to stay calm and level-headed.

"My blessings, dear guests! Our honorable God predestined your arrival in the face of dangers. I will have to apologize for my current appearance, but as Sir and Madame might have noticed, I had to bless one of our newborns!

Before I will change into formal, unstained clothes, I want to express my gratitude for helping us in the face of the lesser demons and their forces! Without your heroic act, we might have been annihilated.

For this, I have to sincerely thank the two of you!"

Shane could barely prevent rolling his eyes as he maintained his poker face, while Ilya had to control her liquefied body to stay put and not to fluctuate, or show any signs of disgust.

The old man's words were nothing but hypocrisy and did not hold even a trace of the truth.

He alone would have been more than enough to take care of the small number of demon beasts and lesser demons.

Other than that, the act they had seen was everything but a blessing.

Something dark and devilish had entered the body of the newborn that had no way to defend itself after it had just been born.

However, instead of openly expressing their disgust, Shane nodded his head as he replied,

"It is an honor to have seen such a magnificent blessing. My name is Shane, and if it's not too much to ask for, may Sir tell us more about the blessing and why the Myn kingdom is at war with the Karn kingdom.

We came from a faraway place and did not intend to stay anywhere for a long time."

The Ara race's bishop nodded his head before he instructed the guard to take them to his office.

There, he would meet them after changing his clothes and share his knowledge.

With that being said, Shane and Ilya were brought to an office before the guard left them without saying another word.

"What kind of dungeon demands such a weird task on the third floor?? It is not even a calamity-class dungeon!"

Ilya was venting her anger, but Shane calmed her down as he pointed towards the small marble that was placed on the desk in front of them.

This caused her to quiet down in an instant as she summoned the system to send him a message.

[The Myn Kingdom is truly sly! Not only do they have a ritual to implant the seed of a devil into their newborn, calling it a blessing, but they even spy on us. We helped them after all!]

Shane knew that the marble was a device that would record every word spoken in a certain range.

Thus, they had to communicate through the system messenger.

Nevertheless, Shane couldn't help but eye Ilya oddly.

[A ritual to demonize someone?]

He had heard of all kinds of rituals but what Ilya had mentioned was something entirely different.

'Implant a devil's seed into a newborn…'

If he had only seen the ritual, Shane would have thought that it was something similar to a curse that would strengthen someone in exchange for a sacrifice that should have been blood.

However, Ilya's words caused him to rethink everything he had witnessed during the last hour.

They hadn't been inside the city for a long time, let alone on the third floor, but the ritual they had witnessed was definitely the most suspicious.

Despite not being able to witness every little detail of the ritual, the ominous aura that had been absorbed into the newborn Ara was most likely the remnants of a devil!

Shane didn't know much about devils, but they were said to be an evil race where even the weakest were stronger than all kinds of existing demons.

This made no sense to Shane and he had thought that it was nothing but a mere legend; groundless and only used for fairy tales.

Thus, he wanted to ask Princess Ilya more about the existence of devils. Unfortunately, the Ara bishop just entered the room as Shane sent the message to her.

The system's holographic screen dispersed before an entity living inside the dungeon could perceive anything about its existence.

Nobody knew why this happened, but it was something that made the system try to hide its existence from the dungeon, which made some individuals doubt the relationship between dungeons and the Primordial Dimensions, let alone the system.

"I apologize for being late but comforting the families of the deceased who had fallen due to the battle that had just happened was important. I won't have much time but I hope that the two of you can spend some time in our small city.

My name is Yan and I'm the bishop and at the same time the city lord."

Shane nodded his head before he answered carefully.

"We would have loved to stay for a few days, but I'm not sure how long our adventurous spirit can stay idle.

Throughout our long and arduous adventures, we have encountered all kinds of kingdoms reigned by different races, and we have witnessed several different types of baptisms.

However, the one we saw today was definitely the baptism that truly stunned us.

I hope this question is not rude, but how did the Myn Kingdom come to think of such a magnificent baptism? It is quite unique and not something one can do just because one has the intention to do it!"

Yan, the old Ara nodded his head, acknowledging everything Shane had said with a faint smile.

Before starting his story, he took a deep breath.

"It all began with our savior…"
