Chapter 1.1 – Be the patriarch from today onwards

3,145 years of the Great Qian Longchang, the ninth day of April.

Ping’an Wang (Ping An means same and sound, Wang is the name of the clan), the clan’s patriarch, Wang Dingyue, died of injury at a young age.

After the seven-day mourning period, Wang Shouzhe, who was a direct descendant, became the new generation’s patriarch.

This was in accordance with the national ordinance of clan rules, and under the auspices of the late Wang Dingyue’s official wife, Gongsun Hui and the elders of the clans, and after informing Longyan, and the successive generations of ancestors.

The Wang clan was registered as a nineth rank Xuanwu (in Daoism: God of the north sky) aristocratic family, whose influence was limited to the area of Ping’an town, Chang Ning’wei, which belonged to the declining noble family.

However, their ancestors were once rich, and their lineage can be traced to the Wang clan of the Great Qian dynasty.

A thousand years ago, for reasons unknown, their ancestors separated from the Great Qian Wang clan. They travelled a long way until they came to Longzuo county. They opened the frontier and extended the territory, and established the Longzuo Wang family, establishing the foundation of the family.

At that time, the Longzuo Wang family was considered to be an illustrious large clan and was in the limelight.

It was a pity that the good times didn’t last long.

The glorious days passed, and the family’s status gradually declined.

Much later.

In Longchang year 3000, Longzuo Wang’s talent, Wang Zhouxuan and his family went south to develop Chang Ning’wei.

He developed the wasteland at the confluence of the Liuping mountain range and the An river, and built Zhaili town. They endured the hardships as pioneers and was credited as trailblazers who created a new settlement for humans. They established Ping’an Wang clan which took root and thrived.

At the peak of his battle power, ancestor Zhouxuan had reached the late stage of the Lingtai realm and could cover the sky in Ping’an town.

What makes ancestor Zhouxuan even prouder was that his direct lineage granddaughter, Long Yan was an invincible genius. At the age of 18, she achieved the seventh level of Qi Refinement.

After being admitted into the prestigious Zifu Academy, she broke through to the Lingtai realm at the age of 30. Before she reached 60, she reached the middle level of the Lingtai realm. She was highly regarded and was nurtured by the academy.

At the same time, Wang Longyan and Liu Xuanfu of the Shanyin Liu clan were known as the Chang Ning’wei’s two beauties and their reputation preceded them.

In addition, his direct lineage great-grandson Wang Qiongyuan, was exceptionally talented. Under the cultivation and support of his ancestors, he reached Lingtai realm at the age of 40 and took the helm of his clan as patriarch.

At that time, the Wang clan’s three Lingtai realm experts were famous, and the clan’s power extended over the entire Chang Ning’wei region.

Until Longchang year 3095 when ancestor Zhouxuan was 145 years old, the normally calm beasts in the depths of the Liuping mountain suddenly rioted, and Ping’an town was the first to become a disaster area.

To protect his clan’s century-old foundation, ancestor Zhouxuan personally stalled the Golden Winged Sun Swallowing Tiger, a fifth-ranked beast while waiting for reinforcements.

The battle was extremely fierce. Two of the Wang ancestors were lost in the battle with the beast, their fates unknown. Although the Golden Winged Sun Swallowing Tiger and the beasts were besieged and killed by the Chang Ning’wei reinforcements which arrived later, the Ping’an Wang clan had already suffered a great loss.

In this battle, not only was ancestor Zhouxuan killed, but also the fourth-generation clan patriarch, Wang Qiongyuan who had reached the early stages of Lingtai realm, and in whom his ancestors placed great expectations. Even the fifth-generation successor, Wang Xiaoqi was killed in the battle against the beasts.

The fall of two generations of the Ping’an Wang clan’s Lingtai realm fighters had greatly reduced the clan’s power.

Meanwhile, the two vassal clans, Liu and Zhao harboured evil intentions and were ready to move against the Wang clan. They hid their strength when fighting against the beasts. Their two ancestors faked their deaths to escape from the battle.

After the decline of the Wang clan, the two-clan alliance tried to swallow up the Wang’s estates and properties.

At the critical moment, Wang Longyan, the third generation of Wang’s clan, resolutely defied the precepts of the Zifu Academy, gave up her promising future and returned to her clan.

She took the initiative to fight against the enemy’s three powerful men in the Lingtai realm.

With one against three, Wang Longyan brazenly killed her enemy’s Lingtai realm ally, shocking both the Liu and Zhao clans’ Lingtai realm ancestors.

It was a shame that Wang Longyan suffered heavy injuries from the battle. Her strength fell to the elementary level of the Lingtai realm and her life expectancy was greatly shortened.

But even so, Wang Longyan still carried the burden with her own strength, and barely safeguarded the safety of the Ping’an Wang clan.

The Liu and the Zhao clans didn’t dare to enrage Wang Longyan too much, so they decided on the technique of piecemeal encroachment.

Time flew by, and another 40 to 50 years have passed. Generations of clansmen never reached the Lingtai realm. This time, even the patriarch Wang Dingyue, died.

All the burden seemed to fall on the new generation’s patriarch, Wang Shouzhe!

Chapter 1.2 – Be the patriarch from today onwards

Wang’s main residence, inside a quaint courtyard wing room.

“Little, no, Patriarch ~ the deceased is gone, why don’t you eat something first? If you continue like this, you may not be able to take it. These meals were prepared for you by Madam Gongsun herself.”

His personal young male servant, Wang Gui was carefully carrying a rosewood food box. He was frowning in concern.

“Phew~” Wang Shouzhe sighed in relief and put down the “Chronicles of Wang’s Heritage”.

His eyes recovered some clarity, and thoughts arose, “I can’t believe that a car accident would cause me to transmigrate into a xuanhuan world.

“Weirdly, I’ve become the patriarch of a declining noble family. It’s a real pity, this seems to be an extremely heavy burden.”

It turned out that three days ago, the original Wang Shouzhe was overwhelmed with grief and fainted in front of his late father’s coffin. When he woke up, he had become a transmigrator.

Over these past three days, the process of memory fusion made Wang Shouzhe looked slightly muddled. Everyone said he was overwhelmed with grief, and that he was beside himself with sorrow.

However, they didn’t know the true story. Yet, according to the clan rules and inheritance, they elevated him to the position of patriarch.

After reading the “Chronicles of Wang’s Heritage”, Wang Shouzhe probably gained some understanding of the clan and the current world.

The world he lived in was called Great Qian country.

Great Qian was based on Xuanwu and was established by the aristocratic family. The royal family was the largest Xuanwu clan. The other Xuanwu noble families, large and small, were like densely packed stars.

They were intertwined with each other, directly or indirectly affecting the entire political, economic, and even the lifeline of the nation’s fortune.

Don’t think that the Wang clan was just a declining nine-ranked family. In the Ping’an area of Chang Ning’wei, the clan remained highly influential. The official garrison guarding the clan mansion also had significant authority.

Even as early as Wang Shouzhe’s great-grandfather’s generation, the Wang clan in Ping’an was a respected and noble family whose influence could affect the surrounding areas of Chang Ning’wei.

It was just that with the two thrilling turning battles in “Chronicles of Wang’s Heritage” where the clan’s masters were killed, the quality of the descendants deteriorated year after year.

Even the ancestor, Longyan was barely able to hold things together. Thus, it was difficult to thwart the joint piecemeal encroachment of the Liu and Zhao clans.

Wang Shouzhe thought there was something fishy about the great battle with the beasts.

How did the Liu and Zhao clans gather the courage to secretly conserve their strength and eventually plot a rebellion? And why were the reinforcements the last to arrive?

The chronicles were unclear, and many things were murky. For the time being, he would keep these in mind.

In order to cultivate to Lingtai Realm and turn the tide, the former patriarch, Wang Dingyue, didn’t hesitate to plunge deep into the dangers of the Outlands to seek breakthrough opportunities.

However, his attempt failed, and unfortunately, he lost his life at an early age. This made the fate of the declining Ping’an Wang clan even worse.

If things continued at this rate, the Wang clan’s property would gradually be eroded and replaced by the other two in Ping’an town within the next few decades.

The once large and illustrious family would decline and collapse, and the family’s descendants would become common people.

“But it’s an interesting world.” Wang Shouzhe squinted his eyes slightly, as his memory gradually merged, he pondered, “It seems that although my predecessor, Wang Shouzhe was young, he wasn’t a simple character.”

Memory told him that Wang Shouzhe had been hailed as a young genius since he was a child.

The talent and aptitude of ancestor Zhouxuan were flowing in the seventh generation, in Wang Shouzhe, whose genius capabilities was just slightly lower than ancestor, Longyan.

Cultivating with his clan’s pooled and concentrated resources, Wang Shouzhe reached the sixth level of the Qi Refining at the age of 18, not far from the seventh level.

This was good news. At least, he didn’t transmigrate into a useless person.

Wang Gui, his servant who was waiting by the side, watched as Wang Shouzhe’s expression kept changing, and became even more worried. “Patriarch, please rest first. I’ll go and get the physician.”

“It’s okay, I’m fine now.” Wang Shouzhe stopped him. “Wang Gui, go out first, I need to think about some things.”

“Yes.”

Wang Gui put down the food box and retreated as instructed. He closed the door behind him carefully.

After he left, there was only one person left. Wang Shouzhe sighed in relief and relaxed. These days, he had to keep vigil beside his late father’s coffin and go through the memory fusion.

He hadn’t been eating properly and his stomach was already growling in hunger. There were a thousand things to do to revive the family, etc but first, let’s fill up the stomach and then slowly ponder about the matter.

Once he opened the lid of the exquisite rosewood food box, there was a wonderful smell. The food box was divided into several partitions, with rice, vegetables and meat, and a piece of steamed fish.

He quickly picked up the chopsticks, grabbed a piece of meat and stuffed it into his mouth. The condiments were average, but the taste was very rich. He had a nice chewy mouthful of the flavourful meat. After swallowing it, he could sense a subtle stream of heat welling up in his body.

Wow! Was the meat so delicious?

What kind of meat is this? Pork? No, pork tasted rough, and wasn’t so delicate. Lamb? It’s not lamb, either.

The meat doesn’t have the slightest odour, it was rich and juicy, and tasted like the expensive imported beef that he had once tasted before transmigrating.

But very quickly, his fused “memory” told him that this was Linghorn yak, a precious meat. Long-term consumption of the meat would strengthen the body and promote cultivation.

His predecessor was a young patriarch, and he was also extraordinarily talented. He was the first in line to receive the family resources to support him. Naturally, he was qualified to enjoy such resources.

Wang Shouzhe felt a thread of subtle heat surging through his body, and he experienced a wonderful feeling of rapid energy recovery.

He couldn’t help but sighed secretly. It was exceptional meat. Under the temptation of delicious food, he speedily consumed the few pieces of yak meat.

He wasn’t quite done yet. He stared at the steamed fish again, and his fused memory told him that it was called the red-tailed Linggan (spirit yellowcheek).

This was a rare spirit fish from the Anjiang River. It was a second-ranked fierce beast. They could easily grow to hundreds of pounds in size and were extremely fierce with the ability to overturn boats.

When ordinary fishermen encountered this kind of beast, they would avoid the fish as they were fearful of it. A slow escape would result in the boat capsizing and the loss of lives.

This red-tailed Linggan was caught by ancestor Wang Dingyue last year. Together with several of the clan masters, they resorted to all sorts of tricks to capture the fish.

After the fish was filleted, it was pickled and stored in the family’s ice cellar as spiritual supplements for the young descendants of the family.

The chef had picked out the fishbones a long time ago. The fish meat tasted fresh and smooth, and was accompanied by a refreshing and comfortable sensation which travelled through the body.

He enjoyed the extremely comfortable sensation and delicious fish!

The rice was also extraordinary. The grains were plump, sparkling, and crystal-clear. It tasted firm, springy and had a rich sesame flavour. This was the famous spiritual food, White Jade Sesame Rice.

The meal was exquisite, and his earlier feeling of weakness and sluggishness dissipated instantly and was replaced by vigorous energy. He also glowed with health and radiated vigour.

If you eat like this for all your meals, your cultivation would be exceptionally fast.

But this was obviously impossible. The family was no longer in its glory days. Even his status didn’t allow him to eat so extravagantly. What more, the other family members.

Since he had been promoted as the patriarch, he couldn’t disregard the other family members and appropriate their resources endlessly to provide for himself.

If this was the case, it won’t be long before this family would disperse and its demise, accelerated.

Even if it was to eat all kinds of delicacies, it was necessary to help the Wang clan grow strong.

“System!” Wang Shouzhe lay on the bed to digest his food. He closed his eyes and calmly called out in his mind.

But there wasn’t even a half-hearted response after a long time.

No way! Wang Shouzhe’s heart thumped.

He transmigrated without a golden finger, was this going to be a pit for him?

Subsequently, he tried repeatedly but there was no sign of the golden finger.

He wailed.

This xuanhuan world was full of martial experts while ferocious beasts ran rampant. How can he play without a golden finger?
