Chapter 92: He Opened The Door To My Heart

Lilia brought Karhan into the main building. She quickly put Karhan on the bed and then covered him with a quilt.

“All this time I’ve been worried about catching a cold, what if you catch one?”

It sounded like a light scolding, but Karhan knew she was seriously upset.

“Didn’t you catch a cold because you dressed lightly as it got hot?”

Karhan just lowered his eyes quietly. He didn’t wear revealing clothes because it was hot, but she still noticed it, so that was enough for him.

Karhan shifted his gaze. It was good that Lilia was worried about him, but he felt sorry that he made her worry for nothing. But now he couldn’t say it was a lie. By the way, how does one pretend to have a cold…….

“I’ve called my doctor, he’ll be here soon. I’ll just watch you get treatment and leave.”

At those words, Karhan looked at Lilia while holding the blanket lightly. He wanted to hold on to Lilia, but he couldn’t ask her to stay with someone who caught a cold. Seeing Karhan’s desperate eyes, Tession coughed,

“I think Mr. Karhan didn’t catch a cold…… I think it’s because he has overworked.”

“Overwork?”

Lilia murmured, nodding her head convincingly.

“You went to catch a fox not too long ago. It might be a flu.”

Soon after, the doctor came in. The doctor who put down the bag measured the pulse first.

“Hmm?”

The doctor who was examining Karhan tilted his head. Lying down, Karhan pretended to be sick in his own way. Then Tession looked at Karhan with pitiful eyes.

“…… Since you’re sick, I’ll give you some medicine to recover from fatigue.”

The doctor drew the line, saying it’s not the flu. Karhan nodded in appreciation that he had not been found out to have feigned illness.

“But be careful. The flu is so prevalent these days.”

He said that he had examined more than ten people today and shook his head. The doctor, who was packing his bag, tried to say goodbye to Lilia, but stopped. The doctor looked at Lilia quietly.

“No, your face looks a little feverish…….”

Lilia blinked. The doctor turned to Lilia.

“Do you feel any pain or symptoms?”

“Other than being tired……. Come to think of it, I think I’m a little dizzy…….”

The doctor took her temperature after asking for permission. Then he opened his eyes wide.

“The fever is higher than expected.”

Startled by the doctor’s words, Karhan pulled the blanket away at once.

“It’s okay….”

Before Lilia could continue her words, Karhan held her in his arms.

“You need to rest.”

It happened in a flash, so Lilia looked puzzled. After finding out where the bedroom was, Karhan strode down the hallway. The passing employees stared with their mouths open for a moment.

Embarrassed, Lilia said she could walk alone, but Karhan was adamant. The attitude made her feel as if she had a serious illness.

Upon arriving in the bedroom, Karhan laid Lilia on the bed. Two summer blankets were overlapped and pulled up to Lilia’s shoulder line. Lilia lay in bed and looked at the high ceiling.

When she laid down on the bed, she felt like she had a headache. She thought it was because she was overdoing it yesterday…….

“I’ll get the medicine, so please close your eyes for a moment.”

Finally seeing Karhan’s hardened face, Lilia closed her eyes. And she’s been asleep since then. Suddenly the fever began to rise rapidly. The flu seemed to have spread from an employee.

Her eyesight was blurry as she was lying in bed, so the doctor brought her medicine. Lilia swallowed warm water and medicine together and fell asleep for a while. But she couldn’t sleep well and woke up in the middle.

After a while, the symptoms seemed to get worse. She felt as if she had been beaten all over. She didn’t cough, but she felt like her head was going to break and her stomach was upset. Whenever she tossed and turned in pain, a cool wet towel was placed on her forehead.

Every time a large palm covered her forehead, Lilia loosened her frown. She didn’t know whose hand it was, but it was not too soft or hard, so it felt good. Strangely, the touch felt familiar, however a long-forgotten memory seemed to come to mind.

Lilia, who fell asleep, had a dream that she didn’t usually have. Lilia in her dream wandered around the palace alone, just as she did when she first met Richard. Then, she crossed the stone bridge in the center of the pond. Lilia, who couldn’t balance because the floor was slippery, fell into the pond.

No matter how much she swam, her body gradually sank down because of the accessories and cumbersome dress. It was like being dragged into the depths.

By the time her consciousness became increasingly blurred, a large hand pulled Lilia out of the water. The tightly held arms felt hot even in the cold water. Her wet body lay on the lawn, and Lilia spat out the water. She managed to open her eyes, but the sun was so strong that she squinted.

The other person’s face against the sun looked black. When her eyes closed again, Lilia saw blue eyes like dawn rising in the dark.

‘What is it…’

Lilia woke up from her dream and fumbled her memory blankly. I think I dreamt of what happened in the past…… The memory after being saved was unfamiliar. It was a strange thing, but she couldn’t continue her thoughts because she soon felt dizzy.

Then the palm of that hand fell on her forehead. It was a familiar touch, but unlike usual, the body temperature was cool. A new wet towel was then placed on the forehead. The temperature of the palm and the wet towel was about the same. Lilia fell asleep again without thinking any more.

She repeatedly fell asleep and woke up a few times. In the meantime, there was someone who didn’t leave her. Someone with big, hard hand fed soup and medicine in between.

As the sun set and dim light filled the room, it became noisy for a moment. It seemed that the family had returned from work.

“Take a rest, Lord. We’ll take care of it.”

“I want to be by her side.”

“What if you catch the flu?”

“……I’m fit for health, so I’ll be fine.”

A conversation with the lowest voice as possible was heard sparsely and then cut off. Then there was silence.

It was already deep dawn when Lilia, who had been suffering for a long time, came to her senses. Lilia blinked absent-mindedly and slowly rose from bed.

The whole room was dark. When she blinked slowly, her eyes adjusted to the darkness and began to distinguish things. Lilia looked around in the moonlight. Then she saw a sleeping man only with his head leaning on the bedside of her bed.

Lilia stared down at him. His black hair was messy, as if the ends of the night had been pulled apart. The neat shirt was also crumpled. Only then did Lilia find a wet towel that fell next to her pillow.

She picked up a damp towel. It seemed as if it had been used just a while ago. She kept feeling someone’s presence, but Karhan seemed to have taken care of her.

‘You weren’t feeling well either….….’

Lilia bit the inside of her lips. Indescribable emotions poured in. Her heart was like a towel getting soaked in water.

Lilia pulled the quilt away, as quietly as she could. She was wondering whether to wake him up and sleep in bed or cover him with something. Eventually, Lilia decided to wake him up. If he stayed asleep like this, his whole body was going to ache tomorrow morning.

“Karhan.”

Breaking through the silent space, Lilia’s voice fell gently like the moonlight. Karhan responded to the low voice. Karhan, who flinched his shoulders, slowly raised his head. He looked at Lilia with unfocused eyes.

Lilia turned on the lamp by the bedside. A bright light filled the room in place of the moonlight. The sudden light made Karhan’s brows narrow. Lilia, who sat on the bed, opened her mouth, but he said first,

“……Are you feeling well?”

The first thing he says and it’s only about her. Lilia replied, thinking he was a stupid man,

“It’s gotten a lot better. I’m a bit drowsy, maybe because of the medication…….”

“That’s a relief.”

Karhan smiled faintly. Obviously it was Lilia who was sick, but Karhan looked as if he had been seriously ill. Seeing his disorganised figure, Lilia moved her hand.

Lilia reached out unknowingly and smoothed his disheveled hair. Karhan closed his eyes and looked down like a puppy getting petted. Nowhere to be found was the man who made people scared with a fierce face. When his hair was done, Lilia withdrew her hand and spoke quietly,

“Sleep in bed because that position is uncomfortable.”

Karhan looked at Lilia’s hand silently. His eyes were full of regret, but he did not ask for more. It looked like a child trying not to be childish.

Lilia reached out again and patted Karhan on the head. His eyes narrowed pleasantly.

“Come to think of it, are you okay?”

Obviously, she remembered that he was not in good shape. Even if it wasn’t the flu, he might have had a slight body ache.

When asked by Lilia, Karhan looked up. She thought he looked like a large dog, but his eyes were curved. He whispered in a low, slightly hoarse voice,

“It’s better now.”

The hand that was patting his head stopped. It sounded as if he meant since Lilia was okay, he was okay too. Lilia was silent without saying anything.

The door of her heart, which she thought was tightly closed, was loosened again.
