Chapter 24 The Aunty Wang Who Wants to Marry Uncle

Wang Li took the cup and took a sip. Then she looked around the house and said, “No, it’s pretty good.”

The house was not big but there was at least a little sunlight that poured in. The more Wang Li looked around, the more she felt like she was at home.

Although she lived in a high-end residential area with big and bright houses, she didn’t feel as happy there. Instead, Wang Li felt a stronger sense of longing here, as if this was where she belonged.

Wang Li sat on the sofa and continued to sip on her tea. Suddenly, she was attracted by a picture frame under the television.

In the picture, a woman with a smile on her face was holding a baby in her arms. The man next to her was holding the two of them in his arms as he looked at the woman with the baby lovingly.

The family of three looked very happy.

Xiao Yun’s gaze followed Wang Li’s.

“Do you want to see it?” Xiao Yun got up and walked to the TV.

Wang Li was surprised. “I… can I?”

“Of course.” Xiao Yun smiled and handed the photo frame to Wang Li.

Wang Li took the photo frame of the family of three with an envious look on her face.

The photo was preserved very well. There was not a speck of dust on the photo frame. One could easily tell that the owner had loved and taken good care of it despite the passing of

time.

“How beautiful. I heard your father mention your mother. When he talked about your mother, his face would turn gentler.

“From your father’s description, I could tell that your mother was a gentle person too. Now that I’ve seen this photo today, everything your father said was true. She’s so beautiful and gentle.

“No wonder your father loves your mother so much.” The more Wang Li spoke, the softer her voice became. It was obvious that she was slowly losing confidence.

“People have to move forward. It’s good to keep such beautiful memory in your heart. Moreover, I believe that mom in heaven would also wish for someone to take care of my dad and me so that we would not be so lonely, especially my dad,” said Xiao Yun with a smile.

Wang Li was very surprised when she heard that. Then, she said with a smile, “You have an insight and maturity that doesn’t belong to your age. It’s hard to believe that you’re a three-year-old child.”

“Correction, I’m now three and a half years old. I’m about to be four years old.” Xiao Yun’s words broke all the sadness that she had just felt. Wang Li couldn’t help but laugh.

Then she returned the photo frame to Xiao Yun. She looked outside and saw that it was still raining, so she said, “Is there any food at home? It looks like your father will be back in a while. But since it is still raining outside and it is getting late, you guys won’t be able to go out today. I guess you’ll be forced to try my cooking…”

“There should be some food in the refrigerator. If Aunty Wang is the one cooking today, I think I can eat two bowls of rice,” said Xiao Yun as he put the photo frame back in its original position.

“I can eat three bowls,” said Lin Xi, not wanting to be outdone.

Wang Li pointed at Lin Xi’s nose and said, “Okay, then you must eat three bowls today. You must be full.”

Then she got up and walked to the kitchen.

Xiao Yun watched cartoons with Lin Xi on the sofa and the funny scenes in the cartoons made the little girl giggle non-stop.

The alluring fragrance of the kitchen eventually wafted over and the cartoons on the screen were no longer enough to distract Lin Xi from the smell.

“It smells so good. Big Brother Xiao Yun, I’m hungry,” said Lin Xi as she rubbed his stomach and looked in the direction of the kitchen.

Xiao Yun handed her a bag of biscuits. “Eat this first. I’ll go take a look.”

He got up and walked to the kitchen door. There, he saw Wang Li wearing the apron that Xiao He often wore to cook. She hummed a few lyrics from time to time, she seemed to be in a very good mood.

Since Xiao He was the one who usually wore the apron, despite Wang Li having button all the buttons on it, it was still a little too big for her.

“Aunty Wang, your cooking is too good. I already feel hungry from the smell,” said Xiao Yun as he stood at the door.

Wang Li turned to look at him, but her hands did not stop moving. “Is that so? Just wait a little longer, alright? Dinner is almost ready.”

Xiao Yun stood at the door to accompany Wang Li. When the dishes were cooked and ready, Xiao Yun helped to bring them to the table.

The fried tofu, fried vegetables, and a plate of chili stir-fried meat, which was Xiao He’s favorite, looked very appetizing.

Knock, knock, knock…

Then came Xiao He’s voice from outside. “Son, Xiao Yun, open the door for me, it’s Dad.”

“I’m coming, Uncle.” Lin Xi ran over to open the door for Xiao He.

Xiao He smelled the fragrance as soon as he entered the door. While taking off his clothes, he asked, “Oh my, it smells so good. Who would cook for you guys if I’m not at home?”

“It was Aunty Wang who cooked the meal. The Aunt Wang who wanted to marry Uncle.” Lin Xi answered very enthusiastically with a voice that was especially loud.

At this moment, Li Ping and Lin Feiyang, who were following behind Xiao He, looked at Xiao He with their mouths agape.

When Li Ping had gone to the factory to help the workers this afternoon, she was prevented from picking up the children by the heavy rain. Then, she saw Xiao He wave his hand to them and said that they did not need to worry. He said that he had just made a call and asked a friend to help pick up the children.

However, he did not say whether the friend was a man or a woman. And since Xiao He rarely interacted with women, the husband and wife had automatically assumed that Xiao He’s friend was a man.

This friend now looked nothing like what they thought. At this moment, Wang Li and Xiao Yun walked out together, faces a little red.

It was obvious that they had heard what Lin Xi had said.

After all, she was so loud that it was difficult to not hear it. However, the culprit looked at everyone so innocently they could not even throw a tantrum at her.

Then, Xiao He and Wang Li made eye contact, feeling a little awkward.

When they saw Wang Li, Lin Feiyang and Li Ping were surprised, but they did not show it.

“Ahem, let me introduce you.” Xiao He tried to cover up the awkwardness with a cough.

Then, the three of them simply got to know each other.

“Well, there are no other dishes in the kitchen, so I just made do with what was available. I made three dishes randomly and my cooking skills are not very good,” said Wang Li as she embarrassedly invited the group to dine.

Li Ping quickly refused, “No, no, we’ll just go back and make more. We don’t live far.”

“Let’s eat here,” said Xiao He at the same time.

Lin Xi also shook Li Ping’s arm and said, “Mom, I’m hungry. Aunty Wang’s dishes really smell good.”

“Then let’s eat together. Go get the dishes from our refrigerator and order two more,” said Lin Feiyang to Li Ping with a smile.

In fact, they had planned to eat at Xiao He’s house today, but they didn’t expect Wang Li to be there.

Li Ping just wanted to create some space for Xiao He and Wang Li to spend time with each other, so her family wouldn’t disturb them.

But since they all said otherwise, Li Ping didn’t intend to decline. She said, “Okay.” Then, Li Ping went back home to get the food.
