Chapter 2: Back To 90’s! (2)

When he took out a black pen in his pocket and prepared to give a doctor’s order, Cao Yong raised his head and quickly looked at the patient’s face and blood pressure and other indicators.

“Doctor Cao, shall I do the ECG?” The trainee pushed the ECG machine over and waited for his order.

“No, push the patient to the ct room first. Call  the CT room and tell them that the patient’s situation is urgent. There may be a ruptured aneurysm with large blood loss that requires surgery. Please ask them to do it as soon as possible.”When Cao Yong said these words, he was taken aback.

Is he crazy!?

Surprisingly, he decided not to go ahead with the procedure to confirm his  diagnosis of myocardial infarction was not followed. Instead, he was following a random high school student’s comment and sent the patient to CT?

The intern was surprised when he heard this: “Doctor Cao, do you think the patient’s diagnosis is not myocardial infarction?”

Obviously the patients symptoms pointed towards a myocardial infarction

“Go do a CT scan!” Cao Yong concluded. In any case, sometimes doctors have to trust their intuition, especially when they are in an emergency, there is no time for a doctor to analyze a situation slowly.

TLN: CT -scans can detect bone and joint problems, like complex bone fractures and tumors. If you have a condition like cancer, heart disease, emphysema, or liver masses, CT scans can spot it or help doctors see any changes.

Xie Wanying looked at the bed in the emergency room. The hospital bed was to be pushed  immediately in the direction of the CT room,  she couldn’t help  blink: Oh, that doctor changed his diagnosis? Suddenly he went with her initial diagnosis?

At the entrance of the hospital, the security guard was having a dispute with a middle-aged woman.

“I am looking for my daughter. She is standing there and we came to find relatives who live in the staff dormitory of your hospital. Her name is Zhou Ruomei, a doctor in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics of your hospital, and my cousin. ” said the middle-aged woman.

“Comrade, our hospital staff who stayin the dormitory building don’t use the hospital path. Use the right path.”

TLN: comrade –  It was used to address almost everyone, male and female, young and old.

“I know, I said, I’m looking for my daughter. She went the wrong way! She came to your hospital.” The middle-aged woman stamped her feet anxiously and had to shout, “Yingying, Yingying!” ”

Hearing her mother’s voice, Xie Wanying turned her head: “Mom.”

“I told you to wait for me at the entrance of the hospital after school so that we could   go to your aunt’s house together. Where did you go?” Sun Rongfang pointed her finger at her daughter and yelled.

Xie Wanying was surprised to hear “after school” from her mother’s mouth. What did she mean  after school? She had already graduated and had started working long ago!

Wait! How come my mother looks like this? Although it is dark, on a closer look, her hair is not aging gray but black, and her face had  fewer wrinkles and had no age spots.

Looking down, Xie Wanying saw the canvas shoes she was wearing on her feet. These were shoes that she would only wear when she was a student. Looking again, why are my cuffs a high school uniform? Then, she felt a heavy object on her shoulders. It turned out she was carrying a schoolbag. She put down the school bag and unzipped it. What came into her view was the crammed third year textbooks and test papers.

“Mom, what year this year?” Xie Wanying couldn’t believe what she saw before her eyes and asked.

Sun Rongfang pushed the security guard away, and walked over to poke her daughter’s head with her finger: “Did you became stupid after studying? The college entrance examination is going to be in a few days, are you asking me a good number?”

“It’s 1996.” The security guard who followed Sun Rongfang to see what was going on gave the  answer.

1996?

Xie Wanying’s eyes glazed over.

Oh my! She had travelled back in time, back to 1996, before the college entrance examination!

“Hurry up. You called your aunt. She must be getting tired of waiting at home.” Sun Rongfang took her daughter’s hand and walked out the entrance door. As she walked, “By the way, buy a bag of fruit and come upstairs again, at least it won’t be embarrassing to come empty handed.”

With her schoolbag in her hand, Xie Wanying listened to her mother’s familiar nagging, and then looked back at the door number of Third People’s Hospital , recalling the turning point in her life that was happening right now.
