Chapter 61: Charity

Upon hearing Zheng Jue's response, Zhou Cheng'an also felt relieved. He knew that Zheng Jue was not a short-sighted person, but he couldn't be certain if Zheng Jue would be willing to face the uncertain risks with him. Now it seemed that his decision was indeed correct.

"I knew I didn't misjudge you, Zheng Sheng. I hope this cooperation between Zheng Corporation and Zhou Corporation will bring both of us to greater heights," Zhou Cheng'an said with a smile.

Zheng Jue slightly curved his lips and replied, "I am satisfied with the current situation. At the same time, I am also looking forward to attending Han Corporation's charity event."

In fact, for him, attending such a charity event was nothing new. He had attended numerous similar events in the past. However, Han Corporation's charity event seemed to excite him exceptionally.

In the afternoon, Susie personally delivered the outfit to Zheng Jue's apartment. It was a navy blue cashmere and silk blend three-piece suit with a dark blue diagonal stripe tie, low-key yet dignified. Before leaving, Zheng Jue took out the watch he bought last time.

He had purchased this watch when having a simple business dinner with others. After the meal, the group wanted to visit Zheng Jue's newly opened shopping mall. When they passed by the watch area, Zheng Jue suddenly felt unable to move forward.

He had never cared much about such accessories in his life, but now, looking at this watch, he felt a strong desire to buy it. He wanted to give this watch to Han Jin. This intense emotion overwhelmed him, and he immediately made the purchase without hesitation.

Now, holding the deep blue velvet box, Zheng Jue felt a bit flustered. This was his first time giving a gift like this in a romantic relationship, and he didn't really know how to go about it.

Susie looked at Zheng Jue, who appeared a bit troubled with the box, and couldn't help but bend her lips, whispering, "Zheng Sheng, Mr. Han invited you to the banquet, and I forgot to prepare a return gift for him."

Zheng Jue's eyes brightened as he glanced at Susie. He didn't believe that such a clever person like Susie would forget to prepare a return gift for Han Jin. However, this solved his dilemma. He immediately smiled and said, "Perfect, let's consider this watch as the return gift for Mr. Han."

Susie smiled and accepted the watch. Zheng Jue hesitated for a moment, then took off one of his cufflinks and placed it in the box. Susie raised an eyebrow playfully when she saw this, hiding a secret smile.

When Zheng Jue arrived at Han's residence, he was welcomed by Han Jin's assistant. As he entered the hall, he saw Han Jin standing in a corner with a cold expression, watching the people in the middle of the hall with an indifferent look.

However, as soon as Han Jin noticed Zheng Jue entering, his expression immediately changed. He became excited, and his eyes lit up as he walked straight towards Zheng Jue.

But before he could reach Zheng Jue, he was intercepted by Han Zizhang's assistant.

"Young Master Han, Mr. Han wants you to come over."

Han Jinyu turned sharply towards Han Zizhang, his eyes filled with deep hatred. However, Han Zizhang just looked at him calmly and casually averted his gaze.

Han Jin's eyes almost seemed to emit fire.

Zheng Jue discreetly pursed his lips, giving Han Jin a meaningful glance before turning away and heading in another direction.

Han Jin stood still, his hands clenched tightly, his gaze fixed on Zheng Jue as he walked away, his eyes darkening.

During the course of the charity banquet, Zheng Jue almost didn't know what he was doing. People came and went, exchanging pleasantries one after another, and Zheng Jue's smiling face felt frozen.

Finally, when the charity event came to an end, Zheng Jue and Han Jin had hardly exchanged a few words. Zheng Jue was busy dealing with the elderly guests, while Han Jin was tightly kept by Han Zizhang.

Zheng Jue felt a bit disappointed, but before saying his farewell to Han Zizhang, Han Jin made eye contact with him. Zheng Jue's mind shifted, and he nodded slightly in response.

Han Zizhang didn't notice any subtle interactions between the two of them. He continued to smile, shook hands with Zheng Jue, exchanged a few more pleasantries, and then saw Zheng Jue off.

After leaving Han's residence, Zheng Jue instructed the driver to take the car to a discreet location outside Han's mansion. He then asked the driver and Susie to leave, while he waited inside the car.

Susie looked at Zheng Jue with some hesitation, but in the end, she said nothing and left.

Once they had left, Zheng Jue took out a cigarette from his pocket. Ever since he broke up with Han Jin, he had started smoking occasionally—not excessively, but just to calm his restless or uneasy heart.

Zheng Jue didn't like the smell of cigarettes, but he appreciated the sense of calm they brought, helping him suppress the restlessness in his heart and regain composure.

After a while, Han Jin finally emerged from Han's mansion, dressed in a sporty hoodie and sunglasses, concealing himself like a thief. Zheng Jue's car was parked in the shade of a tree, and Han Jin didn't notice it at first. Zheng Jue flashed the car's lights to catch his attention, and Han Jin walked over.

Opening the backseat car door, Han Jin got in and immediately leaned in to kiss Zheng Jue, who had just put out his cigarette.

Zheng Jue made a slight struggle, and Han Jin looked at him unhappily. "You don't want to?"

Zheng Jue smiled wryly. "I just smoked a cigarette, and I'm afraid it might bother you."

A smile appeared in Han Jin's eyes instantly. He continued to pull Zheng Jue close and kissed the corner of his lips affectionately, whispering, "I don't mind. I love anything that belongs to you."

Zheng Jue tightened his arms around Han Jin's waist, lowered his head, and kissed him passionately. This person always managed to make his heart race unintentionally.

Zheng Jue gently parted Han Jin's lips with his, their tongues intertwining in a passionate dance. He explored every inch of Han Jin's mouth, leaving no corner untouched. The subtle sound of water in their mouths was clearly audible in the quiet car, and the air around them suddenly became ambiguous.

Han Jin was completely lost in Zheng Jue's kiss, holding onto him tightly without leaving any space between them.

After a long while, Zheng Jue finally released his hold on Han Jin. Han Jin leaned softly against Zheng Jue's chest, his breath uneven.

Zheng Jue held him in one hand and lightly stroked his back with the other, asking in a soft voice, "How have you been these past few days?"

Han Jin responded by raising his head and kissing Zheng Jue again, before saying, "Not bad, the old man has become even more vigilant towards me. He's been exerting more control in the board of directors."

Zheng Jue frowned slightly upon hearing this. "Mr. Han is undoubtedly more experienced than you. It's natural that he won't easily let you have your way after you two had a falling out."

Han Jin sneered sarcastically, "Of course he won't let me have my way. I hate him to death. Even though I'm his son, he won't easily relinquish his power to me. I'm afraid we still have a long struggle ahead."

Hearing this, Zheng Jue felt a touch of bitterness. He leaned down and pressed his forehead against Han Jin's, speaking in a warm tone, "How about this... why don't you talk to Mr. Han and try to reach an understanding? After all, you are father and son. If he can understand your perspective, it would be a win-win situation for both of you."

Upon hearing this, Han Jin didn't get angry; instead, he smiled, and a trace of innocence appeared at the corner of his mouth. "Ah Jue, I never realized you could be so naive. I know you mean well, but I understand my father's character. He won't easily compromise on this matter. It's best to dispel such thoughts early on."

As soon as Zheng Jue uttered those words, he knew they were meaningless. But seeing Han Jin speak like this, he couldn't help but feel a bit sad. Although Han Jin appeared to be a wealthy young master, his affection for his parents seemed shallower than that of someone like Zheng Jue, who had lost both of his parents.

Zheng Jue sighed and tightened his embrace around Han Jin. He whispered softly in his ear, "Vi, I really don't want to see you and your father at odds, especially because of our relationship..."

Before Zheng Jue could finish, Han Jin sat up from his embrace, frowning. "Are you planning to leave me again?"

Zheng Jue's lips curved with bitterness. Ever since that incident, Han Jin's sense of security in their relationship had unexpectedly plummeted. It was just one sentence, but it evoked such a strong reaction from him.

"Han Jin," Zheng Jue leaned in and hugged him, "I will never leave you in this lifetime. I just don't want to see you alienated from your father, especially because of our relationship."

Finally, Han Jin's restlessness eased. He reached out and held Zheng Jue's waist, whispering softly, "Zheng Jue, in this world, I only want you. I don't want anyone else. Han Zizhang abandoned my mother, leaving her to die a miserable death on the streets. He should have known that one day this would happen."

Zheng Jue was slightly startled upon hearing this. Han Zizhang had done such a thing? He looked at Han Jin with uncertainty, hesitated for a moment, and finally said, "That doesn't seem right. Mr. Han doesn't appear to be that kind of person."

Han Jin sneered, "He's good at putting on a façade. It's normal for you to be deceived by him."

For a moment, Zheng Jue was stunned. He looked at Han Jin's gloomy gaze and suddenly realized that he didn't truly understand this person. He didn't know anything about his family. Previously, he had only seen Han Jin as a lofty and distant symbol, unaware of the pain and suffering he had experienced, just like any ordinary person.
