Chapter 43 - Against

Coven was stunned. He lowered his head and looked at the potion he had brewed. No matter the color or taste, it was no different from the finished potion described in the book.

‘Then what did Professor Snape mean by this?’

“Professor.” Coven said in a measured tone, “Can you give me some pointers on my mistakes?”

“The potion barely meets the requirements. You won’t die from eating it.” Professor Snape’s eyes slowly turned. After his gaze left the crucible, he stared at Coven and said, “Do you have a problem with my Potion class?”

“This…” Coven was stunned again. Where did this come from?

“You are very famous these two days.” Professor Snape slowly said in his very unique tone, “But tell me, why did you perform very well in other classes, but you just passed in mine?”

A burst of laughter sounded from the direction of Slytherin’s group of students.

Hearing this, Snape turned around like lightning and looked sternly at the source of the laughter.

When he turned around, the disobedient children from Slytherin were instantly silenced. Even Coven, who was beside him, was shocked because Snape turned too abruptly and too quickly.

At this time, Snape saw that the laughter had stopped. He continued to look at all the Slytherin students with a warning look. Then he turned back and stared at Coven. He said, “Then answer me, why is it like this?”

“This….” Coven hesitated and chose to tell the truth. “Because I am only responsible for stirring the potion and controlling the heat…”

“You mean…” Snape suddenly interrupted, “It is because of your classmate…”

At this point, Snape looked at Dana, who was beside Coven, and then continued to say to Coven, “Is it because he didn’t get the right amount of herbs?”

“No, no, no, no professor.” Coven quickly shook his head and denied it. Then he quickly said, “Actually, it’s my mistake because I don’t seem to be used to the measurements you said. If it were for me who threw the herbs in, this potion might have failed.”

“Measurements?” Snape continued to look at Coven with his unknown eyes. After a pause, he snorted, “Excuse me.”

Coven was speechless. He was clearly telling the truth, but he couldn’t stand Snape’s look of targeting him.

With this, Coven sighed in his heart and simply stopped talking.

“Gryffindor deducts five points.” Snape seemed to have seen through Coven’s silence and slightly raised his voice.

A short burst of laughter sounded again, but it soon disappeared. Obviously, Snape was also very intimidating to his students.

Hearing this, Snape ignored it but said to Coven in a flat tone, “Come to my office after class in the afternoon.”

“Uh, okay, sir.” Coven was stunned for a moment and then responded.

In the following course, Coven was distraught. Because not only Slytherin’s students were gloating, but also several Gryffindor students said a few sarcastic words because Coven deducted five points for Gryffindor.

Coven sighed in his heart. Initially, he had planned to gradually integrate into his classmates, but now that he saw the faces of Gryffindor students, Coven stopped thinking about the past and continued his lonely and carefree life.

This class did not teach new knowledge, and Snape still let all the students continue to brew potions.

Just as Coven was about to let Dana, who was in the same bed, brew the herbs, Snape came to his side again. Then, Snape used a toneless voice to appoint Coven to prepare the herbs for this class, while Dana went to control the heat and the stirring of the potion.

Coven felt like Professor Snape just wanted to embarrass him. But under Professor Snape’s gaze, he could only change positions with Dana and then look at the herbs in front of him.

Coven didn’t know what Snape was thinking. Was it just to avenge Slytherin House’s student, so it was against him? Coven felt that the other party should not be so petty.

Looking at Snape, who was standing at the side, Coven could only accept the reality in the end. He carefully recalled the order and amount Dana had allocated to the herbs during the last lesson.

Fortunately, Coven’s memory was not bad. Together with the amount of the herbs in the book and the scale in front of him, he finally threw all of Herbology into the crucible in order.

As for the result, of course, the potion concoction failed.

Snape used his wand to change the potion that was about to explode in the crucible. It was unknown where it was transferred to. Then, he deducted five points for Gryffindor first. After that, he pointed out the mistakes of Coven and Dana in a mocking tone.

Unknowingly, the class was finally over… Coven finally made it to the end. He packed up the crucible scale and the test tube beaker and left the classroom.

During lunch, the reason why Coven deducted more points for Gryffindor was spread out by the gossip.

After lunch, Penelope walked over worriedly and sat next to Coven. She asked in a low voice, “Are you alright?”

“I’m not that weak.” Coven rolled his eyes slightly. “It’s just a few things to deal with.”

“Then don’t take it to heart.” Penelope comforted her, “Professor Snape likes to pick on other House’s faults. He also likes to favor his students.”

“Did you hear it from your seniors again? Don’t worry.” Coven said indifferently, “At worst, I can just add more points in other classes.”

Coven meant what he said.

In the afternoon, Charm Class, Coven no longer hid himself. He used the silent “Fluorescent Charm” and adjusted the brightness of the fluorescence at will.

Professor Flitwick was extremely excited and almost jumped to add 20 points to Coven. Therefore, Professor Flitwick fell from the pile of books.

The Gryffindor students were like fish, completely forgetting their complaints about Coven in the morning. All kinds of cheers, praises, and voices of advice surrounded Coven again.

After class, Coven simply packed up and went to the door of Snape’s office alone.
