Chapter 34: Are you stupid?

After saying a few words to the old man who brought the food, 「Don’t worry, I’ll do my job」, I decided to talk to the adventurer sitting at the table.

「Let me introduce myself first. I’m Lars, a former adventurer who is now a vigilante in this village.」
「I’m sorry for hitting you earlier. I’m Hans. I’m the leader of the party and I’m a swordsman.」

I shook hands with the bear-like adventurer who introduced himself as Hans.

Now there’s no hard feelings between us about what just happened.

「The one to my right is Lutz, the scout, and the one next to him is Gotorf, the tank. Finally, the woman sitting to my left is Dare, the healer.」

When Hans introduced us, each of us bowed lightly.

The tedious but necessary introductions were over. We can finally get down to business.

「I’m sorry, but I want to go to bed as soon as I’ve eaten. If you have any questions, please let me know as soon as possible.」

That’s true, too. I’m also at work, so I will just skip the chat and go straight to the main subject.

「I’ve heard that Licht, who received the title of Hero from the guild, failed to conquer the dungeon. Is this true?」

Ever since I had a nostalgic dream about them in the dungeon, I had been wondering about them.

Once I emembered them, I couldn’t get them out of my head, just like the burnt food getting stuck to the pot. It’s not like I want to go back to the way things were or anything like that, but if you ask me what it is, I’m at a loss to answer. It’s just that I have a lot of vague feelings swirling around in my head.

I want to know the answer to this feeling. That’s why I decided to get information about them.

「So the story had spread this far? It’s a blunder by the Heroes that the Adventurer’s Guild admitted to. It would be strange if the rumor did not spread.」
「Well, yeah.」

It’s not easy to talk about something that’s inconvenient for the guild you belong to.

Hans had a bitter smile, but soon continued his words.

「As he was famous as an adventurer, it’s funny and spread in Kurt that hee sold a fight to a Knight and lost. That’s the rumor, but the fact is even worse.」
「You mean he didn’t just have a falling out with the Knights?」
「No. It’s an Aristocrat.」
「Oh, come on. I’ve got a bad feeling about this.」
「That’s a good sense of smell. I wish that Licht guy was as careful as that …..」

From the time I met him, Licht was like a mass of self-esteem, but no one cared because he had the ability to match it. I was the one talking to the Aristocrats who seemed to be a problem and I was avoiding fatal troubles, but … With only four people, there is no one to control Licht. Is that something?

That was a blind spot.

I’m sure it’s not a problem in terms of strength, but the rest of the party was devastated, too.

I’m afraid to ask what they’ve done, but there’s no turning back now.

「What did he do to the Nobleman?」

I didn’t want to know, but I had to ask.

Hans’ heavy mouth opened.

「He killed the baron’s fourth son.」

A commoner killed a nobleman, even a fourth son?

Are you stupid?

I was so shocked that my thoughts stopped for a few seconds.
