Chapter 48: You’re going to die!

After a long break, we set off for the dungeon.

The magic floating through the air thickens and a [Skeleton Knight] appears. Naturally, they attacked me, but thanks to the efforts of Christo, who had recovered from his hangover, I defeated them without much trouble.

It took me more than twice as long to reach the newly discovered dungeon than it would have taken me to walk it alone.

The tombs lined up in front of me. It’s the same as the last time I came here.

“So this is the dungeon. I didn’t realize that the scenery could change so quickly …… Seeing is believing.”

The members of the survey team stared dumbfounded at Christo’s murmur, as if agreeing with him.

Is it the first time they came to a dungeon and were surprised by the facts that are commonplace for us, Adventurers?

Gathering only inexperienced members to challenge a high difficulty dungeon is like asking them to die, isn’t it? I’m sure it was a ploy by the Erlers, but what a terrible thing to do. The enemy of the Nobleman is the Nobleman, right ?

Well, no matter. The only thing I need to think about here is completing the request.

“We will now enter the dungeon. Regina and the commoners will lead the way. Hurry up and go ahead!”

Christo gave the order, as if he was getting scared.

I couldn’t make a decision on my own, so I looked at Regina’s face.

When our eyes met, she nodded.

“I understand. Then let’s go ahead. Lars, let’s go.”

Surprisingly, she seemed to remember my name.

After a short reply, we walked next to each other and entered the dungeon area.

“Christo–sama has caused you trouble. Please allow me to apologize in his stead.”

When the distance between the two of us was established, Regina spoke up.

She was probably referring to the hangover and the high-handed attitude, but she didn’t actually care that much. I believe that Aristocrats are such creatures by nature, and above all, incompetence makes it easier for them to do their job. I even felt it was a good thing.

“I don’t mind it. I’ve made my peace with it.”

However, I couldn’t be foolishly honest, so I replied with a little spitefulness, but not to the point of being rude. This is just about right. If you say something as if you really don’t care about it, you might be questioned about it.

Eliminate one nobleman from the world. We have to erase any factor that could cause even the slightest failure. That is how I need to stand.

“All the nobles are like that. …… No no, that’s not it. Can you tell me what’s going on?”

I’m glad you’re so pure and straightforward that I’m worried about your ability to survive in the aristocrat world.

She is an unusually kind noblewoman. She seems to have trouble dealing with commoners, not only here, but in many other places. She has a difficult personality to live with. I’m sure she’ll have a difficult life in the future.

“Straight ahead, there’s a big hole, so we’ll use the stairs to go down. There’s a ruined city underground, and I think that’s the first floor of the dungeon.”

“I see, so the mansion over there is not a dungeon?”

The place that Regina pointed to was the Western-style house that we had found in our first exploration. As usual, ghosts and wraiths are flying around on the roof.

“Yes, it is. I’m sure there are valuable magic items stored there, but it has nothing to do with dungeon capture.”

I explained, raising the volume of my voice so that the entire survey team could hear.

“I see, it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with this investigation.”

“Regina–sama, that’s not true.”

I turned around. Christo was smiling happily at me.

He was glued to the Western-style house. His eyes are clouded by his immediate desires.

“If there are valuable magic items in there, it would be a shame to ignore them. I think we should investigate.”

I knew you would say that.

We don’t need to go into the first floor of the dungeon. I’ll have you die in the Western-style house.
