Chapter 18: I must have looked more like a jerk than I was

I could collect evidence of Kaisar’s misdeeds and show it to the headmaster. Then, they would have no choice but to agree to my request.

It’s as simple as that.

I would be able to gather a large amount of evidence of Kaisar’s evil deeds in less than three days anyway, or so I thought.

But Kaisar was more cunning and sharp than I had expected. He did not let me get his tail between his legs.

I myself tried to make Kaisar angry, but it was all in vain.

I must have looked more like a jerk than Kaisar then.

After days with no results, the day of the exercise arrived.

Naturally, no one would want to work with Kaisar, and I decided to turn down all invitations and go on my own so that I could keep an eye on him more easily.

And sure enough, Kaisar moved suspiciously.

Although it was only a minor change that one would have to observe closely to find, I noticed that today, Kaisar was unnaturally directing his gaze toward his former finacée, Sufia.

I was the only one who noticed this because I was the only one who observed Kaisar on a daily basis, and even if I had, had I not observed him on a daily basis, I would have only thought that he was embarrassed to be alone or regretted breaking off the engagement.

However, from my daily observations, he prefers to be alone.

If he regretted breaking off his engagement to Sufia, he would have been giving her a longing look on a regular basis.

Moreover, the way Kaisar was looking at Sufia was like that of a kingsguard entrusted with someone’s protection, rather than one looking for an unfulfilled desire.

This made it all the more suspicious in my eyes.

[POV Change.]

At any rate, ever since this expedition began, I had [Map], one of my skills, always active while setting Sufia as a target of escort. I was also moving around while keeping a distance from the class group.

There were currently three red dots on the map.

And that, too, is a pretty good sign, judging by the flawless tracking so far.

It is as if they were kidnapping people on a regular basis.

It seemed like they were so skilled that it would not be surprising if they said they made a living from kidnapping women and children, especially those who just slightly deviated from a group that barely just entered the woods.

It was only natural that I found them since the difference between having the [Map] skill and not having it was like that between a car and a bicycle in a race.
