Chapter 49: It can’t end

The support in my heart was in vain as His Highness Prince Claude’s gaze changed from Bridgette to me, so I decided to end this conversation.

After the duel, I threw out the phrase I usually throw at people who try to make things difficult for me to cut it off and leave.

To be clear, it’d be just a waste of time from here on, so I am sorry to His Highness Prince Claude. I hope you can accept the result which wasn’t what you desired.

“Wait a minute! Why are you trying to escape from this place? It must be because you have a guilty conscience!”

From my point of view, I haven’t brainwashed anyone, and I know Bridgette herself is a freak, but from His Highness Prince Claude’s point of view, I am like Schrödinger’s cat. As long as his suspicions are not confirmed, I am evil to him, and his eyes did not doubt it.

Then I thought of the solution which would be less troublesome, walking away now or clearing my suspicions? Walking away would make it more troublesome, right?

I stopped and turned toward His Highness Prince Claude.

“If so, please do whatever you can to find the issue right here and now. I will obey orders from the royal family even if I don’t have to fight a duel. But only if you promise that you will not give me any orders regarding this matter in the future.”

“Humph, acting tough now that you’re cornered. Very well, I’ll take your words. It’s too late to refuse now, you know? Hey, guards. Watch this guy and make sure he doesn’t escape.”

And when His Highness Prince Claude heard what I had to say, he said something as if to make light of me and called for the school guards to take me into custody.

Then, His Highness Prince Claude called Emily, the daughter of the Urbana family, a member of his harem and skilled in sorcery, and she casts various spells on Bridgette.

“Are we done yet?”

“Not yet! Bridgette, you must have been brainwashed by something! I can’t let you go until I get rid of it! I promise I’ll get you out of this!”

An hour passed before His Highness Claude and Emily cast various magic spells on Bridgette.

The bell had already rung to indicate the start of class, and most onlookers left after the tenth magic spell they tried.

The only people here now are me, Bridgette, His Highness Prince Claude, and his harem of girls.

As you can see from how everyone else disappeared, they have already tried all of the typical magic spells, and they are not trying all sorts of magic spells extraneous with mind control like [Heal] and others. I am starting to think that it is time for me to leave and go to class.

My attendance is in a bit of danger because I was too unconcerned before.
